Hi Uncle Steve,

Hope all's well and fine with ya. To answer your question, yes, SF6 does
have limitations of opening up wav files for more than 2 gigs. If you want
to use SF to open files more than 2 gigs, u got to go for SF9D and above.

Hope it helps.

I recorded a wave file, standard ready-for-CD-type wave file
parameters, but I wasn't watching the clock and let it run over 2gb in
size (ran to 2.28gb to be exact). Now, when I want to open it in
Sound Forge Version 7, I get an error that tells me it can't do it. Is
it because the file is too big? Was this fixed in Version 8? Should I
use a file-splitter to cut it down to manageable sized pieces, and if
so, which one? Or will some other editor handle a big file like this
properly, and if so, which one?

 Thanks in advance.

I use JLC's Internet TV with Jaws. Sometimes it is hard to get Jaws
focused
in the right area. Understanding the layout of the screen helps. I wish
 it
used the control tab or f6 to switch tabs. Instead, I need to use the
 jaws
cursor a lot to switch areas.

It's free but it installs a community toolbar. It won't work if you
uninstall the toolbar and you can not choose not to install the toolbar in
 the first place.

It does have system wide hot keys but you need to turn on numlock to make
 it
 work.

Have no other issues with Jaws or my computer so far.

 Hi Lisa,

You might wish to try JLC's Internet TV. You can get it from
 www.jlc-software.com/index.php?page=internet_tv.html

It works well with JAWS and on the page it states:

JLC's Internet TV is a FREE program for watching and browsing thousands
 of
TV channels freely available on the internet. It's
probably the biggest and most up to date database of channels ever, and
users are able to submit, rate and flag channels. And with
the new flagging and rating system you'll easily see which channels works
and which is worth to watch and our goal is to bring you
the best online TV experience out there!

 Hi everyone,

I had a sighted friend who showed me a program that allows you to view
 3000
television and radio stations around the world. I think this is really
 cool.
Does anyone know of an accessible software that would work with JAWS in
viewing many of these channels? He says that the program he installed on
 a
laptop computer is only usable with a mouse and not a keyboard. Any
 suggestions?
Thanks for your assistance in this area.

A note for those living outside the U. S. If you have had occasion to
attempt to stream a Clear Channel station but found it impossible, where
 you
live might be the reason why.
Clear Channel blocks non U. S. residents from listening to all of their
streams including HD2 stations. To my knowledge, they are the only radio
station streaming company who impose this restriction. If you notice CC
Tuner as part of the stream's url and you live outside the States, you
 will
 be excluded.

Needless to say, I am not a big Clear Channel fan.

Re: JLC's Internet TV was: accessible software to view 3000 television or radio stations?

2008-05-31 Thread Mike Pietruk
Folks

Before spending money on one of these programs or investing time in
learning a new piece of software, you may wish to visit

tv stations streaming worldWide
http://wwitv.com/portal.htm

Here, you will find links as to what tv is streaming which you can access
with players you may well already have on your pc.
You may still decide that purchasing or downloading one of the dedicated
players may make sense as a convenience; but just remember these players
are just organizing things for you and are finding what already is out
there.
Also, with one of these dedicated players, is someone minding the store,
so to speak, as links can and do change.
If no one is updating the database, then you could eventually have
problems.

Most people who try internet tv of this type end up disappointed as they
aren't all that likely to find the content they were hoping for.
The major exception are those seeking foreign language stations from
homelands as this is the type of station one is most likely to find.

Looking at the link I provided above, I note that there are 30 listings
from Greece, 41 from Hungary,
Korea (one from North and 25 from the South),
43 from China, Colombia 14, -- well, you get the drift.
So unless you understand those languages, much of what is available is
pure numbers of stations, not stuff you will be able to use.
For those fluent in a language, this could conceivably be a treasuretrove.

A Question about Differences in the responses of cd players.

2008-05-31 Thread Vinny Samarco
Hi,
I have a bit of a dilemma. A local restaurant wants to play cds of my
musical group as background music. These would be sold to the public also.
Their system (I don't know what kind it is) won't play the cds at all, it
could be as old as fifteen years, and it might be older. Yet, the cds will
play on any other unit, in a car, or portable unit that we have tried. This
large player in the restaurant easily plays commercially made disks. I
recorded them using Goldwave at 44100 using.wave files, of course.
I have made the master cds using Premier Cd recorder.
Could their be varying bit rates that I am not aware of, or some setting
in the premier cd recorder or Goldwave. that I might need to alter so these
will play on an older machine?
By the way, I don't understand anything about bit rates and why any
other machine but this older large commercial unit
 won't play these particular disks.
Thanks for help and suggestions.

2008-05-31 Thread constantine (on laptop)
Hi,

I've got a cd walkman here from Panasonic which will play cds just fine; its
from 1992 or so, the same time as that cd player your talking about. When I
make cds, I use nero or, in some cases, easy cd creator. Not really sure
what bitrate would have to do with it; aren't cds always burned at 1124 kbps
or some such? So it should be universal- for audio cds anyway. Your making
an audio cd right? When I first used nero I kept making data cds until I
finally found the combo box for data, audio, etc. Frustrating...programs
like to hide things. Anything odd in the options diologue? Is this program
free? If so, I'll see what I can do with it, and see if cds burned with it
will work on my walkman, if that would help?

Re: trying to listen to this station

2008-05-31 Thread Larry Naessens
What you're saying makes sense, Mike. If I lead you to think that i believe
CC was trying to inconvenience anyone or any group of anyones, then I
unintentionally mislead you. I really don't believe that at all, nor do I
pretend to know what's behind their decision to block streaming access
outside the States. But if there were prohibitive costs associated with
streaming U. S. product outside American borders, why wouldn't it affect
other large radio station groups? Take CBS for instance, which has, of late
been invoking many cost cutting moves, while still streaming world wide. Or
how about Citadel? Lots of stations, all streaming worldwide.

Really my comment was just sort of an off the cuff thing which is probably
dangerously close to being off topic. But the point does remain. Of all the
American megga-station groups that stream CC is, to my knowledge, the only
American company that restricts the ability to access. If that is incorrect,
I would be pleased to stand corrected.

Meanwhile, ou clearly like and enjoy aspects of how CC streams. And by all
means, their many streams are available to you, so why not enjoy them. I was
just offering another point of view concerning CC practices. The why that
surrounds those practices is someone else's to sort out. Their reason may
well be perfectly legitimate. Still, as I'm sure you can understand, those
of us who are left out have little reason to applaud them. For us, Clear
Channel stations are silent.

Subject: A Question about Differences in the responses of cd players.

 Hi,
I have a bit of a dilemma. A local restaurant wants to play cds of my
musical group as background music. These would be sold to the public
 also.
Their system (I don't know what kind it is) won't play the cds at all, it
could be as old as fifteen years, and it might be older. Yet, the cds
 will
play on any other unit, in a car, or portable unit that we have tried.
 This
large player in the restaurant easily plays commercially made disks. I
recorded them using Goldwave at 44100 using.wave files, of course.
I have made the master cds using Premier Cd recorder.
Could their be varying bit rates that I am not aware of, or some
 setting
in the premier cd recorder or Goldwave. that I might need to alter so
 these
will play on an older machine?
By the way, I don't understand anything about bit rates and why any
other machine but this older large commercial unit
 won't play these particular disks.
 Thanks for help and suggestions.

Re: JLC's Internet TV was: accessible software to view 3000television orradio stations?

2008-05-31 Thread Mac Norins
That's kind of a brief explanation, after your long treatise on the cursor
use and such, don't you think? Since you were so verbose, in your
explanation, why don't you, at least, attach some importance, to the fact
that you were talking about an entirely different program? It seems, that
it would be common courtesy to do that, after you led some people off in a
blind direction!

I have not tested this program here with JAWS 9 but letting you all know
about it. For those who have a test machine or use VMWare might want to try
the free trial on this product and let us know.

Audials One

Version: 5.1.145.0
License Type: Trial
Trial Length: 30 days
Price: $60
Operating Systems: Windows Vista, Windows XP

This do-it-all multimedia program finds music and videos for you,
downloads them, plays them, and organizes them. It lets you handle
them in a variety of ways, such as by burning CDs and DVDs and editing
music ID3 tags. And that's just the start. It also synchs the files
with your mobile device, and converts media between a variety of
formats. You can also record Internet radio and save it as files, and
even remove digital rights management (DRM) from files.

Re: A Question about Differences in the responses of cd players.

2008-05-31 Thread Vinny Samarco
Hi,
The program is called premier cd-dvd creator. Someone sent me the link once
and I downloaded. The first 30 data or mp3 burns are free.
What I have never understood about that program (though I have tried to make
sense of the manual) are the three writing options of Track at once, sesion
at once, or disk at once.

Thanks for your help.

 Hi,

 I've got a cd walkman here from Panasonic which will play cds just fine;
 its
from 1992 or so, the same time as that cd player your talking about. When
 I
make cds, I use nero or, in some cases, easy cd creator. Not really sure
what bitrate would have to do with it; aren't cds always burned at 1124
 kbps
or some such? So it should be universal- for audio cds anyway. Your making
an audio cd right? When I first used nero I kept making data cds until I
finally found the combo box for data, audio, etc. Frustrating...programs
like to hide things. Anything odd in the options diologue? Is this program
free? If so, I'll see what I can do with it, and see if cds burned with it
will work on my walkman, if that would help?

Re: trying to listen to this station

2008-05-31 Thread Mike Pietruk
Larry

I can only make some intelligent guesses as to why CC blocks its streams
internationally and other major U.S. players don't.

(1) Their attorneys have advised them to do this. Keep in mind that
different lawyers have different legal opinions. These opinions may also
be a result of a company's past history or aversion for lawsuits.

(2 cc MAY HAVE reached an agreement with certain royalty organizations to
do this in exchange for some concession.

Short of a definitive statement from the company, all we can do is play a
guessing game which really isn't all that productive.

Out of curiosity, have you seen the same blockage with talk, news and
sports stations as with music ones?

Re: A Question about Differences in the responses of cd players.

2008-05-31 Thread constantine (on laptop)
Hi,

Try track-at-once. It burns each track, stops for a few seconds, and burns
another track; whereas disk at once and session at once are mostly for data
cds; however, they can also be used for audio cds. I think that track at
once will work with all cd players, and disk at once with newer once.
Probably wrong, though.

 Hi,
The program is called premier cd-dvd creator. Someone sent me the link
 once
and I downloaded. The first 30 data or mp3 burns are free.
What I have never understood about that program (though I have tried to
 make
sense of the manual) are the three writing options of Track at once,
 sesion
at once, or disk at once.

 Thanks for your help.

 Hi,

 I've got a cd walkman here from Panasonic which will play cds just fine;
 its
from 1992 or so, the same time as that cd player your talking about. When
 I
make cds, I use nero or, in some cases, easy cd creator. Not really sure
what bitrate would have to do with it; aren't cds always burned at 1124
 kbps
or some such? So it should be universal- for audio cds anyway. Your
 making
an audio cd right? When I first used nero I kept making data cds until I
finally found the combo box for data, audio, etc. Frustrating...programs
like to hide things. Anything odd in the options diologue? Is this
 program
free? If so, I'll see what I can do with it, and see if cds burned with
 it
will work on my walkman, if that would help?

 Hi,
I have a bit of a dilemma. A local restaurant wants to play cds of
 my
musical group as background music. These would be sold to the public
 also.
Their system (I don't know what kind it is) won't play the cds at all,
 it
could be as old as fifteen years, and it might be older.

2008-05-31 Thread Larry Naessens
Yes, the same message pops up on sports, news, and talk stations as well,
which I guess negates my theory that the conflict is music related.

A message pops up which states that they can not serve my Ip address because
it is in Canada. They also offer a form in which you can declair yourself to
be U. S. military or dispute their claim that you live in Canada. They offer
no exceptions for people like me who are U. S. citizens with permanent
residency status in Canada.

As I have seen no outlet for inquiry to CC, I can't ask the question as to
why they're doing what theh're doing. Now, when I encounter a link with CC
Tuner in the address, I just skip it. And fortunately, there are plenty of
less restrictive choices out there.

RE: Streaming Clear Channel Stations

2008-05-31 Thread Tony
A number of Clear Channel stations stream on the web. Many choose not to
stream because they have to pay the internet rates for any music they
stream.

Rush Limbaugh said the other day that his stream blocks all music, including
parodies, because of the cost. Said the stations have to pay the royalties
if they want to broadcast any music he plays.

High Vinny,
It is neither.
The CD rom drive in your computer, burns CD's differently then the way a
commercial CD burner.
The CD rom drive in your computer, only changes the collars of the CD.
While the CD burners that professional people use, punches holes in the
layers of the CD.
You may also want to keep in mind, some older CD players don't play CDR's.
This really has nothing to do with bit rates.
Hope this helps.
My best regards.

It won't work if you
uninstall the toolbar and you can not choose not to install the toolbar
 in
 the first place.

It does have system wide hot keys but you need to turn on numlock to make
 it
 work.

Have no other issues with Jaws or my computer so far.

It works well with JAWS and on the page it states:

JLC's Internet TV is a FREE program for watching and browsing thousands
 of

probably the biggest and most up to date database of channels ever, and
users are able to submit, rate and flag channels. And with

One other thing. In terms of accessibility, their web site

Which update pop up are you talking about? If it's the one that let's

I recommend winamp, for all filetypes. It plays a lot of them, and a
personal favorite format of mine is .ogg. You can get 64 kbps with no
problem, it sounds like nearly 96 kbps mp3 quality.

Have a good day from Tyler C. Wood!

Subject: Which Players do best with which players

 Hi
Can someone please tell me which types of files play best on which
players. For example, which play best on WMP? Thanks for all past
and future help. Sometimes I really am forgetful.

 Marsha
