RE: Anyone had experience with the Bose Cinemate 1SR speakerbar?
I've heard it at Best Buy. I love the stereo image, but for surround sound, I prefer a real surround sound system. With 6 actual speakers. Or 8 for 7.1 which you'll need for some Blu-Ray movies. I'll reserve judgment on it since I havn't heard it with an actual movie. All though like I said, I prefer a real system. If we want to go with Bose, if I were you, I'd get at the very least the Lifestyle T20. Hi folks. I for a number of reasons am thinking of investing in the Bose Cinemate 1SR speakerbar. This item is rather expensive and although I listened to it in the dealers for around an hour, it isn't the same as personal experience. The product with it's Bluetooth subwoofer sounds very good and it is supposedly very simple to configure. If you have heard or had experience using it I'd be grateful for your comments. As I said, it is rather expensive and the model with the higher specs is nearly double the price. I read on review on line about it and it is impressively simple to set up and it can either be wall mounted or lay flat on the table without any deterioration of sound quality. The opinion of the reviewer was it was a bit over priced and the latest Yamaha equivalent was better. Opinions sought and welcomed. Walter. Re: Several questions regarding manipulating a file in mp3 Direct Cut
Hi, Tom, I'll take a stab at what you might do different. Control-P brings up the edit box with the time info in it. The first number is the total length of the file shown in minutes, seconds and fractions of a second. Hours would be shown if necessary. The second number is the current position also listed in minutes, seconds and fractions of seconds. It is the current time that you need to edit. Be careful not to remove the punctuation marks like apostrophe which delineate the minutes from second, etc. After editing, press Enter to jump to the new time location. Download it from http://www.mpesch3.de Here are some notes for keyboard shortcuts for basic operation of this program: Play and Stop by using the SpaceBar. During playback, the F8 key will increase playback speed and F7 will decrease it. Rewind and fast forward using cursor left and right or page-up and page-down. The latter two keys move in larger increments than the first two. The number of frames each pair moves can be set via the configuration menu. The Home key moves to the beginning of the file. The End key moves to the end. One can move to a specific location in a file by time. Use Ctrl-P to bring up an editable text box showing the total time of the file and the current time location. Edit the current time location to where you wish to move, then press Enter. How to mark beginning and end points of a selection for deletion, saving as a separte file, etc: While playback is stopped, Use the letter b to mark the beginning of a selection Use the letter n to mark the end of a selection When beginning and end points are set, use the Up-arrow and Down-arrow keys to jumpt to each respectively. The following commands use the numbers row above the letter keys, not the numeric keypad on the right side of the keyboard. These commands move by frame. One frame is roughly a 38th of a second: 1: Move the beginning mark of a selection one frame to the left 2: Move the beginning mark of a selection one frame to the right 3: Move the end mark of a selection one frame to the left 4: Move the end mark of a selection one frame to the right With the following keys, one can exactly hear, where the margins of a selection are: F5: Plays the two seconds before the beginning mark of a selection F6: Plays the first two seconds of a selection F7: Plays the last two seconds of a selection F8: Plays the two seconds after the end mark of a selection F9: Plays a portion of the file around the selection as if the selection had been deleted To remove a selection one can press the delete key. This does not touch the MP3 file. It just modifies an MP3DirectCut index. Therefore, deletes and cuts are made quickly. There are also menu options and shortcut keys to save a selection into a different file. For instance, Ctrl-E will save the selection with the opportunity to choose its own filename. and Ctrl-W will save the entire audio using the current name or edit it to something different. To split an MP3 file, which consists of a complete album, one can use the pause detection feature, which can be reached via the menu system. It will set a marker before each song. These markers are actually selections with a length of zero. To check the markers, one can go from one to the other with Control cursor right and Control cursor left. The file can then be split according to the markers. Or one can save a cue sheet file or an MP3 DirectCut project file. Both would contain the markers. With these marker files, one can easily find certain positions in an MP3 file. To go to a specific time position within the audio file, use Control-p. The displayed edit box is a bit odd. Don't delete the words in it, just modify the numbers

Re: Recording Via Computer?
Total recorder is much easier than audacity and alike, you must do a test recording from the build in low end soundcart and see if that is good enough. Otherwise, you might want a better external soundcard and you would then need to set it up and afterwords tel total recorder to record from that card. If you want to put tapes on your pc, another option could be to buy a USB tape player, they come in differend brands and forms. for example: "ion tape express" wich connect via USB. This way you can avoid an external sound card and tel total recorder to record from the USB tape device. If you have peaces of silence in the recording, or any unwanted audio, you can select the audio and then delete it. On 31/05/2013, Antonio Guimaraes wrote: > I would recommend Total Recorder. Re: Recording Via Computer?
I would recommend Total Recorder. You'll have to set things up to record from the line in, and run tests to make sure the recording levels are loud enough. You'll need some way to monitor the recording so you're not recording dead air after the tape is done. Total recorder does have a mode where it only records when there is sound streaming. This feature works well for recording online videos. It removes any cut outs in the sstream. Total recorder is a little hard to set up, but runs very well once you get it going. Good luck.
