RE: Wierder! was-- EC with TTL Flash on ist D?
I did a similar experiment. The result was that there are only small differences visible. However, they are there! The difference between -1 and -2 is just visible to the eye. Take a look: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bladt/1906936/ Jens Bladt mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://hjem.get2net.dk/bladt -Oprindelig meddelelse- Fra: Don Sanderson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sendt: 4. december 2004 03:46 Til: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Emne: Wierder! was-- EC with TTL Flash on ist D? Here are 7 small pics taken with the ist-D and 500 FTZ: http://www.donsauction.com/pdml/flashtest/FlashTest.htm The chair is light/medium brown. They are 1 stop of EC apart from -3 to +3. No difference appears until you reach the plus side, +1, +2 and +3 show an increase in exposure. The -3, -2, -1 and 0 are all the same. These are at 1/150th, Manual mode, ISO 400 with a Vivitar 70-150/3.8 set at 150mm/f8.0 at 20ft. Any ideas on why +EC makes a difference and -EC doesn't??

RE: EC with TTL Flash on ist D?
I Just tried the RTF: Same result, just a bit greater variations, thoug. I got one tiny overexposure (still within the acceptable) at f4 (open). This is not an issue to me. I would never use the RTF for anything else than a fill in flash. Never as the main light source (I own more TTL flashes than cameras). I have made some test shots (emailed to a list member) with my *ist D and the AF500FTZ flash, using TTL-flash metering. I have used P, P(Tv), P(Av) and M settings. And quite frankly, I can't seem to get one faulty exposure no matter what I do, except perhaps from shots where the flash is out of range (long distance). I have even tried to set the camera to "Auto Sensivity Correction if out of range" - which means auto ISO setting if necessary. What am I doing wrong here? What must I do to get some wrong exposures, like everyone else seem to get? Am I the only one who has a *ist D, that works just like most other Pentax cameras, manufactured after 1983 (P-series exempted)? I guess I'll have to do more tests with different flashes. Just to make sure it wasn't lack of caffiene this morning, I tried this again. This time at f8/150th, ISO 400, 10ft (3 Meter) distance. Built in flash, Manual mode, f8 set via aperture ring. The histogram at -3.0 EC is virtually identical to the one at +3.0 EC. Wierd! RE: EC with TTL Flash on ist D?
It does. Z-1/Z1p did too. I don't understand all this exposure failure talk about the TTL-flash and the *ist D. My *ist D works pretty much exactly like any other TTL-flash system I have used (Super A, PZ-1/PZ-1p and MZ-S). I have noticed small diffrerences depending on which FLASH I use. My AF280T over exposes just a little, but my all my different Metz flahses hit bulls eye IMO. So I can't really complanin about the camera. Works fine for me! Could there be any custom setting, that will influence this - perhaps an auto sensivity (ISO) setting ? - Original Message - From: "Don Sanderson" Subject: EC with TTL Flash on ist D? I just took a series of shots using an M type lens at f5.6 and TTL flash on the D in Manual Mode at 1/150 second and ISO 400. I was about 4.5ft (1.5M) from the subject. Used the pop up flash, room was very dimly lit. At EC settings from -2.5 to +2.5 all of the shots are *uniformly* overexposed. What gives, does EC not affect TTL flash in manual? What does one do in this situation? Welcome to the wonderful world of TTL flash, Pentax style. William Robb
Re: EC with TTL Flash on ist D?
What gives, does EC not affect TTL flash in manual? Exactly my experience... however I've found that it's generally pretty accurate. It's just those few situations where it refuses to cooperate! What does one do in this situation? If you're using the inbuilt flash... cover part of it up or similar. If using an off-camera flash, point it partly away for example... pretty crude but hey, what's the review screen for (-:
EC with TTL Flash on ist D?
I just took a series of shots using an M type lens at f5.6 and TTL flash on the D in Manual Mode at 1/150 second and ISO 400. I was about 4.5ft (1.5M) from the subject. Used the pop up flash, room was very dimly lit. At EC settings from -2.5 to +2.5 all of the shots are *uniformly* overexposed. What gives, does EC not affect TTL flash in manual? What does one do in this situation? TIA Don
