1. I'm not a Geordie. They live in the Tyne valley; I live in the Wear
valley. I won't tell you what the Geordies call us..
2. I presume you mean haar. Otherwise known as sea-fret. A good Viking
word for the mist that rolls in off the sea on nice, warm summer days,
thereby causing them to become cool, damp summer days.

All the above with a wacking big grin (wbg).

WRT electricity, Catherine is visiting the gym three times a week and I
am converting an old exercise bike into a rather effective generator.
Spouses do have their uses..

Of course, this all assumes that NTL can get off their collective
backsides and produce a correct set of paperwork instead of the three
sets of defective stuff they have sent so far. I have given up
contacting them and am just waiting for the engineers to call. Let them
waste some of their time for a change.

Off to trim some wicks.

 I keep getting rejections

We know, we know. 8-)

I think I will have to apologise generally for the error message people
will get if they email me.

The mail account I am using is routed through JANET, the Joint
Academic NETwork of the UK. A local router in the University of
Sunderland has suddenly decided to start producing spurious extra copies
of mails sent through it to any local address. My record for individual
mail copies is over 120 at the moment. I am still getting copies of
mails sent in the middle of August. As you can imagine, this leads to a
situation where my mail box may fill up over, for example, a weekend,
resulting in fail messages. This has already caused me to be
automatically unsubbed from PDML.

Confusingly, this fail message may refer to a mail that I have already
replied to.

The situation has been ongoing since about mid July. Says a lot for the
state of our academic system that a simple fault like this can be left
for so long. It has caused me finally to take action to buy internet
access from home and I will be resubbing with a different address asap.

Once again, my apologies to anyone who has been inconvenienced by this.

OT: message for Mike Wilson

2003-09-14 Thread Cotty
Hi Mike,

Seeing as you'll eventually read this on the web archives, I figure it's
a good way to catch you, as I keep getting rejections from your Citysun
email account, like this:

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

  [EMAIL PROTECTED]

and then it chicks the email back at me. This has happened loads of times
and i keep meaning to do something about it.

There, I did.

Cheers,
  Cotty
