and thanks for having been back on the code.
Thanks as well to Jaromir for the debian packaging.
I've been testing it and it does look to be working well (ie : not 
strangly broken GUI anymore).

I believe you are mistaken, Jaromir: According to 
https://release.debian.org/ we just entered "soft-freeze" where no _new_ 
packages are allowed, and on February 5th (minus 10 days to migrate!) is 
the full freeze.

So assuming the new release of abGate do not require introduction of new 
binary packages, I believe there is still time to get this new upstream 
release included.

It is my understanding that new versions can still be uploaded. New
packages are not acceptable anymore.

Thank you Anastas! Unfortunately at the moment debian is in "freeze"
state (from yesterday)
and new upstream releases are not accepted :(
Anyway immediately when debian will be released I will update abGate!

Jalv 1.6.0 has been released yesterday so it might be worth to test
against the new release.

Sorry that I haven't replied for a long time. Now I have looked at the
bug report and it seems like various lv2 hosts are adding some menus so
the background is repeating. I will try to fix it this weekend.

Hi again,

As a workaround it would be possible to let user choose or simply force
Qt UI to be used. This can be done in deb post install script.
UI options are specified in /usr/lib/lv2/abGate.lv2/manifest.ttl file.
Simply removing last 5 lines of the file would leave the plugin with Qt
UI only and it should work fine even with jalv.gtk

Hi,

I have looked a little more into the issue here. As abGate was
developed using Qt and gtkmm libraries, hosts that support any of those
should load it fine. This is why somebody mentioned that it works in
Qtractor but not in Ardour. 
jalv actually supports many libraries and it seems to load abGate's UI
as it supposed to look like. You can try loading it with jalv.gtkmm and
jalv.qt
With jalv.select it is possible to choose which libs should be used so
it can be loaded there correctly. Too bad jalv does not detect the
correct one itself.
With jalv.gtk3 plugin's UI is not loaded but instead host provides the
default one and in my opinion it is quite usable in this case.
So what I will try to do is to make abGate display the UI with jalv.gtk
which is default in jalv.select
