That's it! It worked after I set the radio station timeout to 10
seconds.

TrackStat:MusicMagic: Import completed in 303 seconds.

Thank you thank you thank you!

This timeout can be changed by go into the Network settings page in the
slimserver web interface and then change "Radio Station Timeout" value.
I would appreciate if you could try to raise it and report back how
high you need it to be to make it work. If this solves the problem, I
will try to make this configurable in the TrackStat settings instead in
the next TrackStat release. This way it's only TrackStat that uses a
longer timeout while the rest of slimserver can use the shorter
timeout.

Is there an ETA when the XMRadio plugin will be ready for SlimServer

I can navigate through the XMRadio channels, but can't play anything.
If I click on Play or Add to Play list... nothing happens.

(And I can't find where any error logs are... SS 6.5 on Linux
w/SqueezeBox 3 and/or SoftSqueeze on Windows XP.)

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Softsqueeze 3.2

I just downloaded the new version of Softsqueeze for the Macintosh (3.2)
but it just hangs on the splash window and never starts up. I can choose
the various menus and quit but can not get the controller and display.
Version 2.8 still works fine.

I am running 10.4.8 on a PB G4. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Turning the MusicMagic plugin on and off did not seem to have any

It's actually not totally random, its sorted in the following order:
1. Ordered by play count (Most played at the top)
2. If two tracks are played equal number of times they are sorted by
random

But I can agree that it might be more suitable in this situation to
actually sort the tracks by track number. I will add it to the wish
list.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Trackstat confused by ' in title

2006-10-05 Thread ceejay

Hi

I've been playing with Trackstat, and one thing I thought I'd do was to
mark up my favourite albums with a rating in the web interface.

So I browse albums to get a list of albums: see an album I'd like to
rate: and press the TS Trackstat icon on the right.

This gives me the list of tracks, so I can rate the whole album in one
go, or the tracks individually: great !

However I have two problems.

One is that the list of tracks is in a random order - and if I rate a
single track, the list reshuffles itself! This makes it very hard to
work down the list to rate the tracks I want to.

The second problem - as per the title of the thread - is that not all
tracks make it to the list! It seems to be the case that track titles
containing a single quote character ' are omitted. On the other hand,
if I just use normal slimserver browsing into the album, I can see all
the tracks.

Trackstat 1.28.2, SlimServer Version: 6.5.1 - 10147 - Windows XP - EN -
cp1252

TIA

Ceejay

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: AlienBBC - works but starts to "stutter"

2006-10-05 Thread bpa

The bit rate limit will affect all streams from slimserver to the
affected player. This means all file type such as MP3, FLAC, WMA would
be transcoded to the lower rate.

Separately, if the BBC is choppy using the default FLAC setting, then
changing the RTSP->MP3 will only affect the BBC stream. However it
will be sent at a quality defined in you Player /Audio settings. I
guess the highest rate is about 320kbps.

If the BBC is still choppy then you could modify the RTSP->MP3 setting
in the slimserver-convert.conf (6.3) or custom-convert.conf (6.5) file
to choose a specific bit rate just for the RTSP streams this way it
would not affect your other MP3 streams.

However before doing that _ I would suggest doing a network test and
find out what the data rate to your player are as I suspect your choppy
BBC may be due to something else.

Ill have to retract that statement... MP3's just as bad as WAV or
FLAC. There seems to be a random factor at work here.

What i do notice, as with tracks which don't sync, from right of the
beginning of the song, SoftSqueeze has problems starting to play, when
it's playing, it does continue smoothly.
Also, when starting a song, when SoftSqueeze gets off sync with my SB3,
i notice following line in the console:
*
11781 [AudioDecoder-2] WARN  javasound.verbose  - audioDecoder did not
write (0) the same number of bytes as read (128000)
*
this last thing gets me wondering, is this what's throwing SoftSqueeze
off-balance? if so... how to fix ??

I just installed MusicIP 1.7 and it works perfectly with my slimserver
6.5.0. I had some problem first where the API servies inside MusicIP
seems to hang, but I then restarted MusicIP and now everything seems to
work perfect.

Do you get any timestamps in your log ?
I'm specifically interested to know the time between the:
TrackStat::MusicMagic: Calling:
http://localhost:10002/api/songs?extended

and the:
Failure answer from Music Magic songs

In my setup these lines are directly after each other with no
intermediate messages, but in your log there seem to be other messages
inbetween. This makes me suspect that there might be some timeout
problem or some conflict with the standard MusicMagic plugin.

I would also appreciate if you could try to temporary disable the
standard MusicMagic plugin and try to import ratings with TrackStat,
just to make sure there is no conflict between the standard MusicMagic
plugin and TrackStat.

While you are looking at this I have a feature request. It would be nice
to use the granularity between the numbers (0, 20, 40, etc) to
automatically raise or lower the rating based on how long the song is
allowed to play. For example, if I skip the song in the first half,
remove 1 from the number. If I let it play all the way through add 1 to
the number. Thus songs I listen to a lot would eventually gain in
ratings, and songs I skip all the time would lower in ratings.

This would probably work best if the stars became a range:
0 -> 0 - 9
1 -> 10 - 29
2 -> 30 - 49
3 -> 50 - 69
4 -> 70 - 89
5 -> 90 - 100

When you manually assign a rating put it in the middle of the range.
Press and hold 4 -> rating set to 80, press and hold 1 -> rating ste to
20.

Since changing from SS6.3.1 to 6.5.0, I have had to disable the Norton

Yes, just enter the groups in the "Groups:" parameter in the web
interface when editing a SQL playlist.

For example entering:
Group1, Group2/Group3

Would result that the playlist appears in:
Group1
Group2/Group3

If you edit the SQL file in a standard text editor instead of using the
web interface you add the playlist to groups by adding:
-- PlaylistGroups: Group1, Group2/Group3

The SQL playlist will only appear in groups in the Dynamic Playlists
menu/web interface, in the SQLPlayList web interface the playlists will
always be shown without groups.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: Announce: Moose 0.42

2006-10-05 Thread erland

Dr Lovegrove, I would like to change the CLI commands/notifications
towards TrackStat so the rating number is sent/received as number
between 0-100 instead of 0-5 as it is today.

The easiest way for me would obviously be to just switch the number and
start to use a rating scale between 0-100, but I am not sure how this
would affect Moose. I could also add completely new CLI commands and
notifications for the 0-100 scale, but that will result in more work in
TrackStat. Do you have any suggestion of how you would like the switch
to happen and when ?

The conversion between the old and new scale would be:
0 -> 0
1 -> 20
2 -> 40
3 -> 60
4 -> 80
5 -> 100

Right, 0.43 is now up.. Should fix the recent folder-scan problems..

* Fix for playing tracks via the songs list after a folder-scan
* Multiple-selections in the songs list now work for folder-scans
* Fix for displaying song artist name in VA albums
* Big speedup for DecodeUtf8String routine

Enjoy,

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: AlienBBC - works but starts to "stutter"

2006-10-05 Thread bpa

My knowledge is mainly mplayer, AlienBBC and to a lesser extent radio
streams.

MARTHA,
I am not sure what you are asking but here is some background info.

If a stream is handled directly by the SB (which is generally the case
for MP3 and WMA since SS 6.5) - the speed of the stream will be
determined by the URL of the station and it cannot be changed by the
user. Although some URLs return a playlist with many URLs, each for a
different speed. I'm not sure how the SS & SB select an URL from a
playlist - possibly the first one.

An example of simple single speed URLs - For the same station somafm
groovesalad there are 3 choices of the mp3 stream:
128kbps - http://somafm.com/groovesalad.pls
56kbps  - http://somafm.com/groovesalad56.pls
28kbps  - http://somafm.com/groovesalad24.pls

If a station is not a format supported by the SB natively (e.g.
RealAudio) then transcoding will be performed in the Slimserver. This
can also happen if it is necessary to force Slimserver to handle a
format such as WMA by disabling the "built-in" In these case the
format and speed of data sent to the SB is controlled by Slimserver and
Filetypes settings.

Under Player Settings/Audio - there is the Bit rate Limiting setting
which will force streams from the Slimserver not to exceed the limit.
This is achieved by transcoding a stream which has a high bit rate into
a lower speed MP3 stream using lame. This feature is designed to work
with files. This limit may also work with some internet radio stream
which are handled by slimserver such as RealAudio with AlienBBC
although there have been some changes in this area in 6.5.

DIANA
The directory structure of Bin is mainly for distribution of Slimserver
for different OSs so relevant .exe are put into the right directory in a
single distribution for all systems.

AFAIK once installed Slimserver will look for .exe in the standard
Path, the Bin dir and then the OS specific dir. So putting lame in Bin
or the MSWin32.. is equally good since you are not re-distributing your
installation.

I have just tried the MySQL route and it stops at R.E.M. for some reason

I've seen this happen a couple of times when the scanner's not finished
a full scan, or is doing some kind of tidy up at the end. It may be a connection
limit as well - there are a few settings in the my.tt file which may help
here - max_connections et al..

I notice that the []'s are present using this method too. However it
doesn't stop you adding tracks.

Ahh, the []'s are meant to show track artists (ie for va compilation albums).
Obviously with folder scanning this could be tricky.. I'll get it sorted..

But, yes, playing single tracks via folder scanning seems broken.. I'll try
and work out why and get that fixed asap..

I will confirm here and then raise a bug. It sounds very similar to a bug I
reported just before 6.5 went live. It was to do with renaming an album.
