Ooh. Is that new Opeth album finally out? Is it worth buying for
somebody who liked watershed and heritage as well as their heavier
releases?

Re: Another question about plugin presets

2014-08-31 Thread CHUCK REICHEL
Hi Krister,
Save your self the guesswork and save them while you have the plugin up in PT.
Just make sure to use the same naming of folders & presets and then you can
share them with other pt users and know with out a doubt! YMMV
That they will work on there system.
If you half to, contact the Nectar support teem and do a remote "teem viewer"
session and have them or somebody sighted click on the load button and do each
one just like most of us have been doing for a while! :)
Also take some time and look at the stock pt plugin presets and how they are
organized & just use that as an example.
Thats what I've been doing with waves for the past several years because a good
tool should be used!

Re: Another question about plugin presets

2014-08-31 Thread TheOreoMonster
Most plug ins store their preset files ina n XML format. In fact some of te
more nerdier among us use in accessible plug ins by opening up those xml files
changing values and saving it out as the same name as the default preset for
that plug in, so when it loads it will load taht preset. I haven't used Nectar
alot in pro tools yet, but i know it doesn't show its presets in the reaper
default drop down menu for presets., so i assume its teh same for pro tools. If
you navigate around through the Nectar window you should find a place in there

you try to load the xml files through the default Pro TOols or Reaper presets

DAW's may store them in their own format.

Re: Slate Trigger 2 on sale and I have the presets.

2014-08-31 Thread Kevin Reeves
I know you guys have mentioned discussing making buttons accessible with Slate
plugs and the like,
so here's my question.

If someone somehow labels or defines non automatable buttons such as "Browse,"
or "open," Are we absolutely certain that VO will somehow see it? From what I
gathered when PT was first made accessible, there was no way to define those
buttons to voiceover because of the incompatibility of the qt floating window
inside of the plugin framework.

Has this changed with AAX? Really curious to know if anyone has any further
insight into this, as getting debs to do this will truly revolutionize our use
of Pro Tools.

Thanks.

Anyone happen to have the presets for Necter 2 production suite?

2014-08-31 Thread Krister Ekstrom
Hi well, as we often say, subject line says it all. I wonder if someone has the
presets for Nectar 2 Production suite in a format that can be seen in the
librarian menu of the plugin in Protools? There is a folder with ready-made
presets but it looks like PT can’t read them because they’re in .xml format.
Any assistance will be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Slate Trigger 2 on sale and I have the presets.

2014-08-31 Thread 'Hi' via Pro Tools Accessibility
I completely agree and we get a great live sound which is a selling
point out here. The real shame of it is that we do so much cookie cutter
pop and rock that everything has a deadline of yesterday. Honestly the
pop genre doesn't even care about what a mix sounds like as long as it's
loud and on time. Last year we worked with members of the Stones, Police
and Talking Heads and I couldn't believe that even they cared less about
the mix and just wanted quick product. One day this 75 year old producer
was working with a big pop artist. He was an AM radio guy in the early
70's who mixed almost everything back then. I was using the Trident
board and he directed a comment towards me which was "Jesus, are you the
only one that knows how to use a board in here?" Everyone else was doing
digital stuff around me while they were shooting a video and I really
thought about what's happening in music these days. His comment rang
true to the fact that many studios don't even have analog boards
anymore. We still have a 2" machine and I think anyone under the age of
30 thinks that's super retro and always want to know how analog stuff
works. In the past 5 years or more I've never done a complete analog
session where at least some part isn't rendered digitally either for
mixing or mastering purposes. That is very sad to think about. As fun as
it is to edit 50 takes together, automate, use plugins, amp simulators
etc, there's still a lot to be said for teaching young engineers that
not everything has to sound like what's on pop radio. The money and
greed is what keeps that side of the business going.

Re: Slate Trigger 2 on sale and I have the presets.

2014-08-31 Thread CHUCK REICHEL
Hi Scott,
As for the ilok?
Thats why I posted the phone # for Slate.
I had them do the ilok while educating them on voiceOver. :)
Yes always get the best drum sound from the start and just enhance when needed
like getting some guys tracks to mix that need the help!
YMMV!

Hey Joe,

I'd say yes and no to that. On the one hand, it's bound to be nice to
fly through getting a decent kit sound and work less. On the other, so
many people are using it, that the sound/feel of uberly processed
slamming drums is starting to wear very thin over here. Same thing
happened to me with everyone quad-tracking guitars, it got very old
very fast. I'll definitely grab the demo and take it for a spin next
time I've got someone around to give me a hand with the iLok stuff,
but think it's likely to turn out to be more of a demoing tool to
salvage horrible rehearsal space drum recordings and generate a bit of
extra excitement at that stage for me. In proper mixdowns, I'd sooner
spend the extra time to get a kit sound that nobody else has an exact
replica of for better or worse, because I still feel like I'm learning
stuff each time I do that.
