start out with 44.1khz on the sample rate side and 24 bits on the bit rate side. Hi, I usually go to 24 bit 96 KHZ the highest that Pro Tools supports with my digi 003 as my point is I want to get the most out of my equipment. I almost always record to an external drive unless it is just a recording I am not planning on doing anything major with or just practice editing with. The reason i suggest starting at 44.1khz is that unless you have a high end interface chances are your interface while capable may not perform its best at 88.2khz or 96khz.
