RE: [ql-users] Q-Starter

2005-04-07 Thread Darren Branagh

And what cruel devil put as s in lisp?

A thermos flask keeps hot things hot and cold things cold - how does it
know?

Or if you unwrap some cling film from a block of cheese, then eat half the
cheese, even though there is half as much the cling film still doesn't cover
it?

Why did the chicken cross the road ?
What came first, the chicken or the egg ?
 What do women want ?

Or:
Why is abbreviation such a long word?
Is there another word for synonym?

etc ;)

Cheers, Wolfgang

Thanks, John.

It's a Toshiba T1910CS (from memory at least)

Trouble is, we don't know if the laptop itself is still working.

It had been stolen and after it was recovered the power supply no longer works,
so he's not prepared to invest too much in case the laptop is now broken too.
I've told him I'll try for a few days to get things working for him, after that
he's on his own.

http://www.laptopsandspares.com have a replacement for about the third of the
 price.
Failing that the best bet is probably a computer spares show. What model of
 laptop is it for?

Thanks for this offer David, but someone has also offered a cheap laptop which
I need to discuss with the owner of the laptop. As it's not mine, I don't want
to get into too much DIY if I can help it. I'm hoping to speak to him tonight
or tomorrow night to discuss the various offers people have made and see how he
wants to proceed.

Once again, the generosity and helpfulness of the QL community continues to
know no bounds!

Does anyone have a 15 Volt power adaptor (UK voltage of course) to sell me

I have a couple, a little higher current rating, but only wkat is demanded
 is drawn.

Voltage 19v I believe, not at home at the mo. A small chain of diodes could
 be used to drop potential.

Input is dual, usual figure of eight two pin.

A tenner in a jiffy bag would cover it.

You bet! Besides, with all the work George put into Turbo it might
start being a real alternative. I've never been a fan of Turbo but
I think he's really moving something.

The latest beta test version of Turbo, v4d21, should soon be on the SQLUG
site. This one has compiled QPTR's demo_bas (after some modifications).
