Not unless you train them yourself.
Most doctors don't have a clue about paralysis so it's no surprise when
caregivers don't either.
I have a great dr that actually listens to me and that's pretty rare now a days.

Ok, I know most of you can do background research on people. One of my first
aids from an agency didn't show up one day and there was the woman's picture on
the news. She had been a fugitive on a murder charge for the time she worked
for me. Well, she is out now.
You need to make the bowel regime a requirement and post it as a quadriplegic
needs assistance with daily living nessesities. When they send you a
housekeeper you have to insist she/he be trained to perform these intimate
functions.
If you keep going without a schedual, in all likelyhood, you'll have a stroke
or heart attack. If nothing else, see if you can get Roy's PIE Machine's there
in OZ. It really is all he said it was. Clean, simple and almost idiot proof.
I wish you the very best at finding an aid that cares.

I think the counting of absentee ballots is like most other things, it
differs from state to state.
I know that in many counties in Florida they began counting the absentee
ballots as soon as the polling stations close. They are very simple to
count since they are Scantron's.

Flying international, is more exciting and adventuresome than flying domestic
for an TAB or a DAB.
Consider the daily services you require and hope that you've planned ahead when
you arrive in Finland and hope they speak better English then you Finnish.
Besides the good time and all the fun you will have, make sure that you have
back up medicine, just in case or know where you can purchase in Finland.

Expect to have a great time and I hope you let us know.

Lost your mind, is past tense. Losing your mind, is more present. (lol)

I didn't want to give you the impression that your endeavor would be
trouble-free as you ventured from your secure, comfort zone.
You have quite a bit of homework ahead of you to cement the paperwork,
before you leave the safety of your home. When traveling abroad, make sure
that
you have a copy of your health records and doctors and hospitals in Finland,
don't know you from Chris Reeve and there is always a chance that you might
become a visitor to one of Finland's hospitals.
I can't imagine you casing your fate to the wind but I don't know you
well enough. I'm sure that others are also wondering about your goals and how
you hope to achieve them in Finland, besides vacations and having a great
time.
I am surprised that you have committed yourself to a voyage to Finland and
still don't know some of the guidelines established by the air industry for
safe passage. Best to ask your airline their policies, and who will have the
pleasure of transferring you from and to your airchair and what you should pack
and what you are required to leave at home.
Keep us informed and hope you bring your computer with you so that you can

Flying international, is more exciting and adventuresome than flying domestic
for an TAB or a DAB.
Consider the daily services you require and hope that you've planned ahead when
you arrive in Finland and hope they speak better English then you Finnish.
Besides the good time and all the fun you will have, make sure that you have
back up medicine, just in case or know where you can purchase in Finland.

Expect to have a great time and I hope you let us know.
Best Wishes

As you know that once you begin to departure this country for international
waters, you won't have all the great protections and coverage you have here.
I don't know if you have been in contact with any organizations in Finland
that can advocate for you, while offering you some suggestions about life
abroad in Finland.
Congrats on your new European Wife and I wish you both the very best. Your
homework remains ahead of you.

Best to ask your airline their policies, and who will have the
pleasure of transferring you from and to your airchair and what you should
pack and what you are required to leave at home.
Keep us informed and hope you bring your computer with you so that you can
write back and tell us all what a great time you are having.

Best Wishes

[QUAD-L] Tomorrow on FX Network - 30 Days in a Wheelchair

2008-06-09 Thread KK
Hopefully this will be a true life episode of someone in a wheelchair.

*

PARTICIPANT - Ray Crockett, 41
RESIDES - Dallas, Texas
OCCUPATION - Retired NFL Cornerback/Real Estate Developer
AIRDATE - Tuesday, June 10, 2008
Ray played football for Baylor University from 1984-88 before his NFL
draft in 1989. He won two Super Bowl rings in 1998 and 1999 as a
starting member of the Denver Broncos. During his fourteen years in the
NFL, he also played for the Detroit Lions and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Today, Ray and his wife April have three children, a 20-year old
daughter named Joi and two sons, 13-year-old Ray Junior and seven year
old Darryl. Ray now works as a real estate developer and coaches his
older son Ray Junior.
In 1991, Ray was on the field with the Detroit Lions when his
teammate and friend, Mike Utley, was involved in a play that left him
paralyzed from the chest down - an event that has not dissipated from
Ray's memory. In fact, it is this incident that made Ray want to
participate in 30 Days.
