Re: [QUAD-L] My new chair was approved!
I'm happy for you Bobbie. I hope you make a video about the chair so we can see how it works for you. Dana Congrats Bobbie, I'm curious about the headrest, never knew they had that...please let us in on how well it works. Hi All, Today a nurse from my HMO came to evaluate me for approval or denie me for a Quantum Q center wheel drive (never had one before) chair. I was approved! Including a power headrest. Not the kind of power headrest that oporate's the chair's movements but a power headrest that I oporate from the joy stick where I can comande it to raise up into any position I desire and ten tuck away. It is a Motion Concept power headrest. My vendor said this will be the very first power headrest to be approved that they have done or have EVER known to be approved. There most likely will be wanting to do a short video of me demonstrating it and they will put it on their web site and YouTube … I'll keep you all posted. My turning radius will shrink down 18" because of the poor seating my chair now has and going to center wheel drive. I live in a 400 square foot apartment, so this is going to be a BIG deal. Also, this chair is going to be 3-4" lower and narrower. The chair I have now has been a complete nightmare ever since I sat in it because of the hight and width being WAY to big. There will be somethings I won't be able to reach but I will be able to get back under tables again. Bobbie Smile Everyday

Consider sending an email to Mark Smith at Pride. He's a Quantum Manager and Edge User, regarding your order and its progression. He may require the provider's order number. He can follow the progress and address any question you might have before or during construction. Best Wishes In a message dated 3/19/2013 8:06:31 P.M. I take a 5 mg each morning and another during the day if needed, which isn't often. Re: [QUAD-L] vegas vacation
That Vegas Tram only goes to a few of the hotels, but it's a good option for easy travel [although it seemed a bit pricey to me.] If you're staying on the Strip and don't plan to go anywhere off the Strip you can get around just fine taking an accessible cab from the airport to your hotel and then just walking [rolling] up and down the Strip. There are so many things to see along the street you will not get bored. You can catch an accessible cab at any of the big hotels. Just look for the taxi line in front of the main entrance. Go to the front of the line and let them know you need an accessible cab, as you'll get priority. Kind of like going to the front of the line at Disneyland. A few free things you should see: Fremont Street [the old downtown strip] Bellagio dancing fountains Treasure Island pirate battle Talk to your hotel's concierge to get special deals and learn about other happenings you shouldn't miss. If you plan to see shows be sure to get tickets ahead of time. If you want to eat at specific restaurants call and make reservations the day before. Have fun!!

Re: [QUAD-L] vegas vacation
You just might meet several Quads while you are in Vegas. The city is quite friendly and many of the new hotels have battery operated ceiling lifts. I would talk directly with the hotel you are planning to stay at and ask them all the questions you want. The streets of Vegas can be narrow with all the traffic and construction going on, so plan on taking the overhead train. I know they have one taxi but I also think they have several cabs that are accessible, if needed. What month are you going? Best Wishes In a message dated 3/19/2013 5:16:38 P.M. Re: [QUAD-L] Florida?
I don't know about Florida, but there are a few of us on the quad-list who live in Arizona. I moved to AZ from snowy Wisconsin in 1986, four years after my spinal cord injury. I completely understand your feelings about the cold weather, and frankly don't know how any of you cold state quads survive (you're stronger than I am!) I have no idea how AZ benefits compare to NY, but I can tell you it's 86 degrees here today and forecast calls for 80's for the next 10 days. Of course, we'll be above 100 F for about six months, starting in late April and going halfway through October. I happen to LOVE the heat, but most people here don't. I'd be happy to answer specific questions about Arizona, if you're considering it.
