The log files are quite evident - your Radio thinks the connection dropped (it had a timeout for one request) thats why it switches to fallback alarm to prevent you from not getting up. As for the other bug - I'd suggest opening a bug-report on bugzilla for this. [SlimDevices: Radio] newbie question: remote, types of streams, log-in to webpages
Hi, I'm considering getting the squeezebox radio. I just have a few basic questions: 1. Remote Can you use a universal off-the-shelf IR universal remote in place of the over-priced logitech remote. I assumed you can, but what are some of the technical information you'll need to do this? Remote codes? 2. Log-in If you're in a place that has a webpage login prior to internet access (like a hotel), is it possible to get this to work? Lets say you have the Squeeze server installed on a laptop, and you can install apps/whatever. Is there an app that helps you "log-in" when you're at a hotel's wireless connection, and then for the rest of the night, you can use the SB? 3. webpage streams Some sites don't have dedicated streams. They have a flash object on the webpage and you click on the play button and it starts the stream. Are there Squeeze apps you can installed to handle these? For example, many NPR programs, like All Things Considered, is like that. -- leafygreens leafygreens's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37588 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77426 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Usually all information in the database are re-generated automatically but if you use TrackStat third party plugin and want to keep its ratings, you probably want to make sure to do a TrackStat backup through its settings pages. You can restore the TrackStat backup after the downgrade. After installing, connect the Radio towards the new Squeezebox Server installation, this will trigger a firmware downgrade on the Radio. Please note that if you use MySB.com, running something else than 7.5 may be complicated because the Radio will try to upgrade to 7.5 as soon as you connect to MySB.com. Instead of downgrading, I would focus on making sure Logitech has enough information to solve the 7.5 problems as soon as possible. For example, by voting on important bug reports at http://bugs.slimdevices.com or by registering new bug reports for bugs that aren't registered already or by adding more information to existing bug reports that you think might help Logitech. -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77217 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] dropping connection after firmware update
I've noticed that my SBR at my office and SBR at home exhibit the exact same behavior. They both drop the connection with mysqueezebox.com but are solid on Squeezebox Server through my laptop. I listened to Slacker all day at the office and all evening at home. Between home and office, I have two different brands of wifi routers and different ISP's. I used my laptop at the office and at home to test SBS. I'm pretty sure the problem has to do with mysqueezebox.com and 7.5. Have any of you had reproducible problems with SBS? -- egarc egarc's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37345 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=76938 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
[SlimDevices: Radio] The last 2 firmware updates were horrible
Got this radio last Black Friday. I haven't seen a product with buggier software. However, I managed to get the machine work fairly reliably with the original firmware. After 2 recent firmware updates, the thing got really screwed up. 1. Sleep function doesn't work right (even after multiple factory reset and reinstallation of the firmware): radio just abruptly turns itself off after 5 minutes or so instead of fading out at set time (15', 30', etc.). 2. If you set its alarm, it doesn't use your selected wakeup sound at your selected volume, but an annoying loud synthetic music. There is no problem with my internet connection or router. -- gooseduck gooseduck's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37587 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77422 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Alarm fade-in not working if connection has dropped before.
Thanks for taking a look! The connection on the first one was definately not lost. At least my ISP was stable, and I can't think of a dropped mysqueezebox.com for just a few seconds. The second alarm was just some minutes later. Well, I upgraded to 7.51 - the logs were already done with this version. Didn't help woth this aspect, but generally the connection is much more stable for just playing music. Haven't had a drop since, as with 7.50 it stopped playing usually after one hour maximum. I did some further checks. Every time I cleared the playlist, the fade-in worked properly. Unfortunately, there is no direct function for accessing the playlist if you're on mysqueezebox.com and playing a stream. I set a user definable keystroke for this function (The "Beta functions" menu) When I delete the last played stream, then the fade comes okay. So, if the alarm sound is the same stream you played before the alarm, then fading won't work. If you choose a different stream, then it's working. Looks like the radio will try to continue the stream where it was left, which of course is impossible with a stream. Some other curiosity: I have "Radio Paradise" in the favourites and on the quick acess key no. 1. When I set the alarm to some other radio station and the alarm rings, it shows the right track information, but still "Radio Paradise" after that. I even deleted the station from my favourites and from the quick acess key - it still get's displayed even when there is no single reference anymore. ; ) Michael -- Loom Loom's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35285 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77210 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

[SlimDevices: Radio] Workaround for too loud fallback alarm: change volume
The fallback alarm is ringing the last week many times. This alarm is too loud. One option is to change the alarm.mp3 file, but another one is to change the volume setting: 1. Log in to the radio using ssh 2. Edit the AlarmSnoozeApplet file: vi /usr/share/jive/applets/AlarmSnooze/AlarmSnoozeApplet.lua 3. search for volume (/volume) You will find this function: function soundFallbackAlarm(self) log:warn("soundFallbackAlarm()") self.localPlayer:volumeLocal(43) self.localPlayer:stop(true) self.alarmInProgress = 'rtc' self.localPlayer:playFileInLoop(self.alarmTone) end 4. change the value of 43 to a lower one, e.g. 20: self.localPlayer:volumeLocal(20) 5. save the file and you don't wake up with a heart-attack-alarm Hopefully you don't need the fallback alarm. -- gerko gerko's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=34933 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77403 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] When browsing for music the radio starts from the top each time?
Good reasoning, could very well be the correct explanation. Since it is suppose to connect to MSB.com (or at least based on the no of posts here re inaccessible servers it seems like that is what it is used for) no point in storing the state on a local server... To bad - will probably have to live with only listening to artists starting with "A" (yes, I am the lazy type... ;<) -- getprogs getprogs's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=753 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77289 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Squeezebox Radio is quite buggy
No problem here, not before and not after the infamous 7.5.0 upgrade (at least not with the radio). I am running off a QNAP 439 Pro, and the service autostarts (did not even have to change any ports - SSOTS does this for me). Not using the alarm feature so I can not speak for that, but everything else seems to be functioning correctly. -- getprogs getprogs's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=753 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77314 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

I couldn't stand the stupid update messages so I gave in, reluctantly. Updated all my SB's. I downloaded the latest daily 7.5.1 r and the "add to favorites" issue was corrected very nicely. However, the update had other stability problems so I went back to 7.5.0. I am certain that 7.5 will be tweaked promptly and will be better than we could imagine. I believe that Logitech has a team of ITs that are knowledgeable and dedicated to make it right. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Squeezebox Radio is quite buggy
Hello, I have quite the same configuration as you have: - Music is on my WHS (HP Mediasmart server) that is connected via CPL to my router - Router is a Dartybox - One SB radio connected by wi-fi, one by ethernet to the router (no CPL use here) - One SB Duet connected by ethernet too For everything to work properly I had to open port 9000 (used by SBS) in my router and allocate it the IP adress of the WHS server. I also had to change the twonkymedia port from 9000 to 9100 in order not to interfere with SBS (after doing that I restarted the twonkyserver service in order to take the changes into account). I do not have the startup problem you mention, the SBS server service starts automatically with the server, to do that I had to: - install SBS through the WHS console (I use SBS 7.5.1) - Remote connect to the server and go to administrative tools - services, then change the Squeezebox server service status to start automatically, then restart the service once I would recommend for the RFM wake-up to put RFM radio in your favorites and to set-up the alarm using the favorite and not the last playlist used. Is there some kind of DHCP allocation time limitation in the SFR box configuration ? Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Alarm fade-in not working if connection has dropped before.
Hi Bluegaspode. here are the logs. the first one did play my radio station for 2 seconds without fading, then stops for 2 seconds and finally playing the upbeat riff. The second one did just play the station. Both times there was no fade at all, even if set in the radio or on mysqueezebox.com +---+ |Filename: nofade.zip | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=9625| +---+ -- Loom Loom's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35285 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77210 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Squeezebox Radio is quite buggy
Wifi router is fine. It's an SFR box, and it's working flawlessly (my laptop connected through VPN to my corporate network is always connedcted, and so are my other systems - Window Home Server and MCE unit). I use both mysqueezebox.com and local server (Windows Home Server is where all my music is stored). My WHS has a fixed IP adress, but not the SB Radio, will try that, although I do have a few spare CPL plug anyway. So technically I know the rest of my infrastructure is up and running perfectly. It's just this damn SB Radio which is causing me problem. Could be a compatibility issue with my wifi access point (the SFR box), I have seen that in the past. Note: the squeezebox server on my WHS setup does not start automatically, despite the service being set to automatic: it reverts back to manual at every system reboot. Painful, as I have to log in to the WHS and start it manually. Apparently a known problem to some, with no solution yet. -- VincentNguye VincentNguye's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37544 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77314 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
