Oh, no need for more precise measurements. Thanks, though! Thinking about it more, I think that there are simply too many variables. I think my long-term best hope (and this is long-term... a couple years, maybe) would be for my wife to look at / try on a Betty in person. The paint job alone would help a lot. Having seen one, I know they look even better than they do in photographs. If she happens to land on a 58, I think I could enjoy riding it some times, even if it is a bit small. However, if she lands on a 52, well... then I guess I may have to get a 62 later, even if it is some large while later. Meanwhile, I think I could suffer along, being forced to ride my Hillborne for a while. Maybe two or three whiles. Man, it is a sweet bike. If I was getting the Betty just for me, then I'd have gotten the 62 as it fits me better. However, save for the fact that I too would like to be able to raise the bars a bit higher and at this point cannot (Nitto stem is at maximum extension) it's still a pretty good fit. I'm 5'11" with a PBH of about 89. I can't recall what my daughter's PBH are, but they are about 5'7" and the saddle comes almost all the way down into the seat post so it fits them well. Yeah Thomas . it appears the top of the head tube is about the same height as the top of the seat tube on the Betty maybe a touch higher. If you can extrapolate from there what you'd need in stem height you'll get a good idea how it may or may not work for you with a tall technomic. My view on fit may not be anyone else's here I don't know. I like a high bar too, but I don't really like technomic stems. On my 60cm. Bombadil I have a 130mm 90 degree stem that gets the bars 1-2 inches above my saddle. It has a much higher front end that allows me to use a stem of modest height. Man ... Oh, bummer. If the 62cm isn't tall enough for you in the front, I have little hope that I'd be happy on a 58; I ride with an 80cm saddle height and I like my bars *high*. Oh Betty !! Betty's are so cool looking thanks for the detailed photos. I'd love to get one too, but I see by the proportions that even the 62cm wouldn't be tall enough in the front end for me. (I use a 82cm saddle height) I thought these would have that, as they are intended for Albatross bars, but no such luck. I would buy one in heartbeat if they had a higher front. Hi! Your Betty is indeed a beautiful bike. And set up in the same general way I'd do it, I think. I like the idea of the Quickbeam crankset especially. Seems right for the bike's aesthetic *and* 'round-town intent. I'm curious... you got a 58cm, to fit both you and your daughters. What is your PBH and their PBHs (or height)? I'm contemplating a Betty at some future point. I have a 90 PBH and am 6' tall. In an ideal world, I'd probably ride the newly available 62cm Betty. But if there's a chance that the Betty could be my wife's main bike and that I could also ride it comfortably... well, that's an enticing scenario, even if it would require a change of stem/bar to prep for each rider. My wife's 5' 5" and normal-legged and -armed. Normally it'd never occur to me that she could ride a 58cm. But at least one person on the list who's even shorter than that indicated she was comfortable on the 58cm. So... I'm curious. Again... beautiful bike! Love to see it with rear rack and fenders!
