Re: [RE-wrenches] Corrugated Roof Brackets

2015-03-06 Thread Luke Christy
Adam,
I'm a big fan of the Corrubracket. We've installed hundreds of them on a whole
range of different types of corrugated roofing, with zero problems so far.
The peel-and stick sealant that comes attached to the bracket works really
well, but it can get pulled aside as the fastener goes through and grabs the
sealant. I always try to check the bracket after attachment to make sure that
the sealant is fully between the bracket and the roofing, and often I will daub
polyurethane caulking on top of the fasteners.

The only thing I don't like is the price point and the fact that the span of
the four mounting holes often necessitates some form of blocking.

Re: [RE-wrenches] Corrugated Roof Brackets

2015-03-06 Thread william
Adam:

We used the Corrubracket, I thought they were sub-standard in many ways. I
dislike that the penetration is in the low point of the profile. Also, the
threaded hubs stripped easily. The overall feel was that it was flimsy.

We subsequently tried the SnapNRack Corrugated Roof Block and found it to be
quite adequate. It is displayed on the web page with the 500 series product
line. The SNR product works on industrial corrugated metal (narrow ridges
and wide valleys) and historic barn corrugations (sine wave profile) alike.
They are priced at less than $5.00 each (not including fastener).
Coincidentally, I am placing an order for a quantity of them today.

We are waiting for a sample of a product made by EJOT. This is a bolt that
penetrates through the high point of the corrugation (always a better
option) and includes a rain guard of some sort. The rain guard is pictured
on industrial roofing and I am not sure it will work on barn corrugation
profile. The product has threads for wood or metal. I always like to touch
hardware to get a better feel for the quality and usability. I will report
when I get my hands on a sample.

Anyone have feedback or preferences on mounting systems for corrugated
roofs? I'm looking at the S-5! CorruBracket

concerned about leaks over time. Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks

Re: [RE-wrenches] Corrugated Roof Brackets

2015-03-06 Thread Mark Westbrock
Hi Jay,

Just use your roofing sealant of choice: fill the pilot hole, leaving a
nice big dab on the surface. Because all holes are in the peaks of the
corrugations, the penetration point should see very little water there. In
my opinion, this is less risky than trying to seal the corrugations with a
dynaflash.

Although the manufacturer's literature also shows using this product with
pro-panel type roofs, for those we prefer either standoffs with dyna-flash
or Schletter Fix-Ts.

Cheers,

Mark

Our S-5! friends have come up with a new bracket for sinusoidal, corrugated
roofs with the penetration points being ON TOP of the ridges and not in the
valleys, which is a more bettah design (as we say here in Hawaii). S-5! is
only now supplying them to their distributor chain, so you may want to
contact S-5! directly to get them. They're in the ~ $10/piece (ouch!)
range.

Re: [RE-wrenches] Corrugated roof brackets

2014-01-24 Thread William Miller
Jeremy:

We used them on one job and did not favor them for these reasons:

1. Don't like having the penetrations in the valleys

2. The adhesive is fragile and either peels off or significant amounts
wrap around the drill or fasteners

3. The threaded connections felt fragile and I recall a few stripped

The next job we used Snapnrack corrugated roof brackets and were very
pleased. http://www.snapnrack.com/series-500-metal-roof-mount-system

Can anyone comment on the S-5! CorruBracket?

Any other recommendations or comments appreciated.
