[Samba] Rejecting auth request from client xxx machine account, win7,
Hi All, I have a strange problem with my SAMBA server as PDC. I have some win7 machines joined to my domain but when I try to access some folders on the server I get messages like these: Authentication for user [machine$] - [machine$] FAILED with error NT_STATUS_WRONG_PASSWORD [2012/01/17 11:34:52, 0] rpc_server/srv_netlog_nt.c:_netr_ServerAuthenticate2(555) _netr_ServerAuthenticate2: netlogon_creds_server_check failed. Rejecting auth request from client machine machine account machine$ I have added the machine to the LDAP, I have only the problem with the win7 machines. I think the problem has begun some days ago. Before It works fine (win7 update perhaps?) I have checked this url: http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Windows7 But it does not solve the problem. I have samba-3.3.7-1 installed. I have not idea which can be the problem, any help from there? Thanks in advance ESG -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: https://lists.samba.org/mailman/options/samba
Re: [Samba] Rejecting auth request from client xxx machine account, win7,
I wonder if this is following Windows Active Directory update KB2621146. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2621146 and http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/Bulletin/MS11-095 On 17/01/12, ESGLinux (esggru...@gmail.com) wrote: Hi All, I have a strange problem with my SAMBA server as PDC. If so the machine password update can cause this. I believe if no user is logged in and a machine password update happens from the client, samba will not accept the change. At work I had to disable machine password updates on all windows 7 machines to avoid this. http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2010-October/158590.html John John -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: https://lists.samba.org/mailman/options/samba

I have logged out from the domain an rejoined the machine and now it works, I have changed this in the registry: Windows 7 Registry changes to avoid a 30 days password change problem Client-Registry: [HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Netlogon\Parameters] DisablePasswordChange=dword:0001 Now it´s working, and I hope that after 30 days it will continue working ;-) Thank you very much for your help, ESG John John -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: https://lists.samba.org/mailman/options/samba

How many of the files, for example, in /var/lib/samba are critical to operation? I assume most but I figure that files like wins.dat and wins.tdb aren't maybe that important and get regenerated if necessary. Just thinking that maybe there was something cached from before the crash that might have caused the problem. But I did reboot several times, restarted services and I overwrote everything in both /etc/samba and /var/lib/samba from backup so I figured it would have put everything back the way it was the previous day. And I didn't mention it earlier but none of the XP clients crashed as they were off at the time, just to rule out corruption on the Windows clients. Although they've been known to get corrupted just sitting there. -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: https://lists.samba.org/mailman/listinfo/samba
[Samba] Rejecting auth request from client error after power outage
We had a power failure in our small test lab and the samba server crashed after the UPS shutdown procedure didn't work quite like it was supposed to. Upon reboot, the services started fine but none of our 3 XP test machines were able to login to the Samba PDC. The Samba logs showed the following... _net_auth2: creds_server_check failed. Rejecting auth request from client FLUENT02 machine account FLUENT02$ No problems at all in the previous 6 months with the same setup other than an older samba version, even surviving a few power outages along the way. Since this is a testing setup I tried restoring all the samba files in /etc/samba and /var/lib/samba from last night when everything was working and then restarting the services but we still couldn't login. Finally just removed and readded the machines to the domain. Is there something obvious that I missed? I would have thought that restoring the files would have worked but no luck unless I missed a critical file or something. Like I said, this is a testing/staging area so it was no big deal but I'd like to find out if there's an easier way than readding all the machines in case it happens to our production server. We're a pretty small shop with only 23 client machines but I do the admin stuff plus my engineering duties so I try to be prepared as best I can for disaster but apparently I failed this time! And I will test the UPS shutdown procedure so hopefully this won't happen again.
