Title: RE: [RCSE] need G-10 for control horns, or suitable substitute You can get the board from radio shack or similar. I HIGHLY recommend getting some pre-cut ones, as cutting that stuff is extremely difficult. Yes There are many sources of this material. What you are asking for is a fibreglas/epoxy laminate. It is used for circuit boards for all kinds of electronics. You can purchase sheets from plastic suppliers in your area, look in the yellow pages. Or, look for a business that makes printed circuit boards, and contact them for scraps. You might even examine old circuit boards from electronic divices, as often you can find areaa of the borders that are useful for the horns and bellcranks you need. And, last but not least, you can make your own. West Systems or similar epoxy is best, but just about any epoxy resin and several layers of glass cloth can be laminated between two sheets of release film, or Monokote backing or even the 'plan rotector' from GP. Squeegee out all the air and most of the resin to make a very dense laminate. Cover with books or wood board, and add lots of weight. Ideal results can be had with vacuum pump. .bcAG4YQ Williamsburg, VA On Wed, 15 Dec 2004, D Hauch wrote: Hi, I need to make some horns, anyone have or know where I can get this material to make my own ? I make my own horns from carbon laminate. Use slow CA glue to laminate as many layers that you need. Glass laminate will take out your jigsaw blade in one minute. Carbon laminate will not kill your saw that fast. A laminated carbon horn will also outlast your sailplane. . RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Once upon a time, a long time ago, I heard of people using old CD's to cut horns out of. Anybody doing that now? They are pretty tough, but probably not as strong as G10.
