Mike C Mike, just to get it clear in my head, are you saying that when you open the Mail & Newsgroup portion of SM, all you see are the listings of all your mail and newsgroup accounts down the left of the screen, but no Headers pane at top right and no message at bottom right?? I was going to suggest that you may have un-ticked all the column heading in the Headers pane, so SM was not showing anything, but, in checking, I see you cannot de-select "Subject", so, if nothing else, that should be showing. In reading my reply to you, Mike, it just occured to me that maybe you have the vertical divider set to the right hand side of the page. Do you see a "grippie" anywhere down the right hand side of you SM screen?? I created a new profile and it works perfectly. Does anyone know how to find out what's wrong with the original profile? I'd like to fix it instead of migrating all the data to the new one. Is there such a thing as "repair"? Does anyone think it would have made a difference if I had uninstalled SM 1.1.18 first and then reinstalled it? No, I guess ths wouldn't be a big difference. I'd suggest you create a new profile with the Seamonkey profile manager, recreate your mail-acount(s), close down SM, copy your mailbox files (inbox, sent, trash, etc.) from the old profile over the new (empty) ones and see if that new profile looks fine then.
