monthly updates

Hi,

I am attempting to install the monthly updates on my W 7 HP 32 bit 
system and it keeps trying to download W10.  There are 12 or 13 updates 
for W7 and after checking all the boxes, pressing space on OK, I am left 
with a "get started" option.   This is the only option available as the 
'install button" is no longer to be found.


Pressing enter onthis options starts the download of the monthly 
updates but it also says at the top, "downloading Windows 10".


As I am not ready to install W10 as yet, turning off the modem stopped 
the download of all updates. Checking the update history, it showed that 
the intended updates failed but the first entry mentioned that the 
download of W10 also failed.



Has anyone come across this one  and figured out how to get the monthly 
updates without triggering a W10 invasion?

I am not aware of any WordPress training materials that are tailored 
specifically for Window-Eyes users or users of any screen reader for that 
matter. But if they do exist, maybe others on the list can point you in the

I'm typing on the chat session some letters are not feeld in. 

There are any clients that accessible to we and supporting fb chat? Can

COPYING MUSIC FILES FROM DRIVE E TO DRIVE F

Hello, I need to copy music files from Drive E on my pc (it is 
using Windows 10 64 bit and the latest version of Window-eyes) to 
a pen drive which has become Drive F and which is essentially a 
pen drive inserted into a bub connected via lead to my pc so I 
can listen to this musia jhen I'm on the train on my Apex 
Braillenote as my fingers are not sensative enough for an iphone 
or other device (I need a keyboard with large keys which the Apex 
has).


I've tried Control A and then Control C AND Control v on the pen 
drive but nothing copies. Any thoughts anyone?

Any chance that we staff will put into an email or a very defined the steps
to install windows 10?

Not just an email with a line or two with a couple of hints.

 

My friend who runs a computer tech and repair shop has 15 computers between
hp and dell computers that after having been updated to windows 10 have
black screens. 

Now I hear that this months window update has windows 10 in the download
without asking for permission.

Also, looks like there is a charge for some type of email.

In the upgrade to windows 10

 

We have spent a lot of money on our computers and win eyes to be floundering
around in the dark without some very clear instructions as to using windows
10 with we.

 

Yes, support tells us to look at some info on the web site of ai squared but
it is in dribs and drabs, how about a straight forward one document with all
the info.

 

How to prepare our computers

What to do with the edge, will it work or can we use something else?

Can we still use ff or are we stuck with internet explore which is poor at
best

What do we have to change in order to make we work with windows 10

Do all of the apps work with the upgrade or do we delete some of them

What happens to all of the computers that have not been updated to we 9.2

To my knowledge, this is the first time that we have been forced to upgrade
in order to work our computers

Now, we could with no warning, wake up with a whole new operating system

Of course, we all don't have the same computers, but, shurley some general
info should be given 

Just a jittery old time user of window eyes

Don,

Before you update to windows 10, you must install WE 9.2.  I have 
updated several computers to windows 10 and had no problems.  I actually 
love windows 10 and 10 is much faster and responsive than previous 
versions of windows.


When windows 10 first installs, Edge will be your default browser, but 
if you tap the windows key and type in
"default browser", you can change that browser to internet explorer or 
whatever browser you want to use.

Sonya, one Caveat, this method only works in files where brows mode is 
used, otherwise you can use the old shift+arrow keys to perform this 
function.

At first, you might wonder why this should be so necessary, or at least 
convenient. One way I find this method to be useful is when I wish to 
select text from a web page, say from header to header or from link to 
link. The F8 method locks the selection in place so that you don't have 
to move manually through so much text in order to make that selection. 
You don't even have to worry about accidentally losing your selected 
text along the way, which can get quite frustrating. Instead, you can 
just press the h or shift+h keys and voila, you have made your 
selection, and you can once again press the F8 key where there will be a 
dialog box with the option to copy the text to the clipboard where from 
there you can copy your selected text to an  editor or what ever. I 
really hope the people at I Squared never do away with this new method 
of selecting because it works so well, even though occasionally I forget 
to press the button to copy selected text to the clipboard.

I have noticed that Amazon has changed it site, again. Now I can't get past the 
second page. When I go to Amazon, I hear, 15 links. That is fine, that is what 
it used to say. But now, a lot of small things are different. There is a lot of 
junk at the top. The items in a search result are no longer numbered, and there 
are several things besides the name of the item and the price before I get to 
the next item. Then, when I get to the end of the item list, I hear the word, 
next. There is no longer a list of pages to choose from. I have to turn on 
forms mode, or whatever it is called, in order to be able to enter on next. 
Then I have to turn it off again when I get to the next page. When I finished 
going down the item list on page 2, I hear, top of page. There is no, previous, 
or list of pages to go too. Before this change, I could browse through 20 pages 
of choices; now I only have 2 pages, regardless of the item in the search 
result.
This is quite frustrating! I want to be able to browse multiple pages like I 
did before last Thursday! Please help.

Amazon problems

I sent this to Paulette, but am forwarding it to the list in case others
have solutions or comments to send to Amazon.

I have a similar problem with the stripped down version of the Amazon site
for screen readers, the one with 16 links.  On the second page of results,
there's no next or previous link.
If you delete the cookie for Amazon, the next time you go to Amazon, you
should be taken to the full site with 261 links.  I can no longer use this
to purchase items because I have to fill out a captcha to sign in, which I
can't do.  
There is a link at the top of the page though for screen reader users.  This
site, unlike the stripped down version you mentioned, has 77 links.
Everything works as it should on this site.  However, at least on my
computer, once I close the site, the next time I try to go to Amazon,
because there is now a cookie on my computer, I'm taken to the stripped down
site, the one with 16 links.  So round and round we go, removing the cookie
to gain access to the full site, going to the intermediate site, and
eventually, back to the stripped down one.  The intermediate site at least
has a link to the full page, which the stripped down version does not.
I sent Amazon an e-mail, telling them about the broken next and previous
links, but never heard anything back.  Here's the information, should you
want to add your comments.

That is because of the way that AISquared has the email set up. I also think
that the posts should not be addressed to the person and the email list
both. This causes the person to get two copies.

When replying to the List, go into the to: box and delete either the persons
address or the email list.

If you delete the person's email, the message will go to the List and the
person will get it.

If you delete the List address, then only the person will get the message,
not the entire list.

Amazon problems: was, RE: facebook chat and window-eyes

Hi all,

I have noticed that Amazon has changed it site, again. Now I can't get past
the second page. When I go to Amazon, I hear, 15 links. That is fine, that
is what it used to say. But now, a lot of small things are different. There
is a lot of junk at the top. The items in a search result are no longer

Hi Steve,

Please be certain that you are actually within the folder in which you are
selecting files before you press Control-A.
This is done by pressing Enter after you have highlighted the folder whose
files you wish to copy.
Then, after pressing Control-C to copy, you must actually open the pen drive
before you press Control-V to paste the files.
Again, you open the pen drive by highlighting the drive and pressing Enter.

I am running Windows 10 and have not had any problem using cut copy or 
paste.  Also, Windows 10 is faster booting up, more responsive in 
switching from task to task and comes with Cortana too.  I am a very 
happy windows 10 user!

Maybe you could use firefox and webvisum and do the captcha once and
maybe you would never have to do it again -- I have not had this happen
to me for years using the full site.

amazon problems

when i use firefox ESR 38.4 and go to m.amazon.com which has 16 links, i 
can do a search, go to the results 1 through 5 page which has 22 links 
page 2,3 etc no problems. also when i click on your account and am asked 
to sign in,  i am not presented with a capcha.
