Grumpy Dave gets Blessed

2016-04-02 Thread via Talk
Hello,

Through some unexpected circumstances, I now have a new machine. It is
an older Used system, but new to me.A lot newer than the old bomb I
was using for the last several years.

However, this new system has Windows 10 Pro on it, and so now I am
learning Windows 10. Honestly, so far I like it. have not had a
Stitch of Trouble out of WE 9.4!No lock ups, or Speech going away,
not slowing way down, so far WE 9.4 has been working well.

Been installing software for the last 3 to 4 hours, which we all know
can be fun fun fun!

But so far, all has gone well.

I know there has been a million questions posted to this list about
Windows10, and not thinking that I would ever have Win 10 any time soon,
never read that many of them.

So here I am now having a few questions, but do not wish to bore the
list with Toddler questions.

I'll take a look on the Window Eyes web site for any Tutorials about
Windows 10 and hopefully that will at least take care the first wave of
questions.

I do have one small question though-

I found System Info, and it told me the manufacturer of the OS, and the
various Hardware components. However, I could not find any where that
told me the amount of RAM Memory I had installed, and it is something I
forgot to ask about the System.

Anyone know how to locate this info?

Thanks,

Grumpy Dave

Re: Grumpy Dave gets Blessed

2016-04-02 Thread Tom Kingston via Talk

Hey Dave,

The memory and processor information is in system info. Here's the trick.
Windows-R to open the run dialog.
Type msinfo32 and hit enter.
* Close the tree view you come in on.
* Press Windows-Up arrow to maximize the window. The memory is not shown
on my system unless I maximize the window.
Now read the window and you'll see all the information on the
processors, memory, etc.
You can just search for memory with the mouse if that's all you want.
You should find something like the following:

Installed physical memory (RAM) 8.00 Gb.

Hth,
Tom

using Team Viewer with Window-Eyes

2016-04-02 Thread Mike Bernard via Talk
Hi everyone,

Is there anyone on the list who has ever used Team Viewer with Window-Eyes?
If so, how would I go about connecting to another person's computer, so that
I can provide remote assistance? And once I'm finished, how do I close the
connection and restore our private machines back to their normal state? A
friend of mine is having a little trouble using Winamp, but since he doesn't
have Window-Eyes, I'll have to use Team Viewer to gain access to his
computer in order to help him fix an issue. If any of you have ever used
Team Viewer from the (support) side of the desk, meaning you're the one
connecting to the other person's computer so that you can control their
computer, will I still have access to Window-Eyes on my own machine even
while the contents of my friend's computer is in focus on my screen? I'm
using Windows 8.1. My friend Jay has Windows 7 and he'll be using a laptop,
while I'll be using a standard pc. Will the slight differences within our
operating systems and type of computer make any difference as to how Team
Viewer works? Also, he's using NVDA at his end of things, while I'll of
course, be using Window-Eyes.

I don't have any experience with teamviewer, but if you install nvda, you can
use the nvdaremote add-on. With nvda you can reotely connect to another nvda pc
and you have speach.

To Find Information About Your Computer

2016-04-02 Thread Rebecca Lineberger via Talk
To find information about your computer:

In the search box type

As much of the word

system

as you need to for Window-Eyes to say:

"System information, desktop app."

Press enter.

Window-Eyes will say:

"System summary, expanded."

Press left arrow to close the tree.

Window-Eyes will say:

"System summery, closed."

Press tab once and Window-Eyes will say:

"No selected item."

But you are in a list view at this point, and if you arrow down with your
regular down arrow key, you can read through a list of items about your
system

I have 38 items. Using the regular "T" down arrow key, the screen does not
have to be maximized. If I used the Window-Eyes mouse, however, it did.

The amount of RAM will be listed, along with the total value, and the
available value.

Just another way of accessing information. For those of us who forget about
the run command. Smile.

Internet Explorer and Brows Mode Freezing Issue Progress

2016-04-02 Thread via Talk
When using Facebook chat, it's a good idea to delete your conversations
every so often. Otherwise, Facebook chat seems to use up a lot of resources
for some reason. I guess if you check your e-mail online, you should
occasionally do the same for similar reasons. Whether e-mails or conversations
via Facebook chat, I do understand that some people, including myself, like to
keep record of their messages, conversations, etc. to see their progress over
time. But I guess if your system is going to crash, you won't be able to do
that forever.

Hope this helps,
