[Talk-gb-westmidlands] Talk about OpenStreetMap by Andy Robinson
Hi all, Andy Robinson will be giving his famous talk about OpenStreetMap at a Coventry Linux Users Group meeting. The talk, on Tuesday 1st March 2011, begins at about 8pm, though people arrive from before 7pm for a drink and meal. However, there is no obligation to even have a drink. The venue is The Castle pub, Little Park Street, Coventry, near the Council House (it used to be the 'varsity' pub). To get to the meeting room: once in pub, turn right, up a few steps, turn right again, ahead, then left and straight ahead. -- Peter Millar ___ Talk-gb-westmidlands mailing list Talk-gb-westmidlands@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-gb-westmidlands

Re: [Talk-gb-westmidlands] Mappa-Mercia social - July 1st - Bedworth
Andy, How about Atherstone? There are at least 4 villages within three miles of the town. Trains from Birmingham via Tamworth or Nuneaton, about two an hour. We could meet at the cafe in the Co-op Superstore in Station Street, by the railway station. An alternative would be Rugeley to the NW of Cannock Chase. It also has a few villages not too far away. I hope a few of us can meet up. -- Peter Millar - "Andy Robinson (blackadder-lists)" wrote: > Peter, > > I'm still up for mapping somewhere in the Midlands this Saturday. > Don't mind > where really but a more rural mapping experience would make a nice > change > from Walsall! Re: [Talk-gb-westmidlands] Police Stations
Brian, Only one of the three police stations on Coventry is mapped. I'll visit the other two as soon as possible. The substations are not mapped either. There are two other police 'places' in Coventry I know of. One is no longer open to the public and is still used by the police and currently mapped as a amenity:police. Another is some kind of police office on a housing estate, open a few hours a day, some days a week (not currently on the map). I think it is where you might them by appointment. Any ideas for how to tag these? -- Peter Millar - Original Message - From: "Brian Prangle" To: "Christoph Böhme" , Talk-gb-westmidlands@openstreetmap.org Sent: Friday, 4 December, 2009 20:16:46 GMT +00:00 GMT Britain, Ireland, Portugal Subject: [Talk-gb-westmidlands] Police Stations Hi Christoph It appears the police are pretty well organised on their web site with google maps ( http://www.west-midlands.police.uk/maps/index.asp ). But we have a challenge - he has phase 1 of a West Midlands wide project to deliver by mid-December to Sandwell MBC so it would be great if we could fill in most of the blanks within Sandwell MBC boundaries by then. What we've noted from experience is that it's important also that the place isn’t too noisy, otherwise it's too difficult to get a discussion going beyond a one to one. Also it needs to be safe for locked up bikes. Any comments on these two points? I'm happy to give it a try.
