Re: [talk-ph] Fwd: [OSM-talk] Bing aerial imagery priorities
The list are good. Can we add this to the wiki: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/WikiProject_Philippines/hires_imagery#Imagery_Request Perhaps along with an osm shortcode uri to the approximate city center, some of the place tags may not be the actual city center. +1 for Vigan and nearby towns of Ilocos Sur...I can complete the street map once it's there...for now I can interpolate with my traces and just adjust later when i took note of the missing streets on OSM...intend to re-visit it next year Daet, been there couple of times sans gps and will re-visit in a few weeks (for rizal@150) Surigao City On Fri, Jun 17, 2011 at 10:17 PM, Eugene Alvin Villar wrote: > Of course, by basing it on population, we lose out on more "popular" > cities and places. > > So other suggestions are: > > * Vigan > * Tagaytay > * Boracay > * Tuguegarao > * Naga > * Tagbilaran/Panglao > * Dumaguete > > > On Fri, Jun 17, 2011 at 10:10 PM, Eugene Alvin Villar > wrote: > > To be objective about it, I suggest the most populous cities in the > Philippines. > > > > Looking at this list of cities (sort the table by population): > > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_in_the_Philippines > > the top 5 most populous cities that don't have aerial imagery yet are: > > > > 15. These are very good candidates. I'm also thinking of the provincial capitols of each province. Re: [talk-ph] Fwd: [OSM-talk] Bing aerial imagery priorities
Of course, by basing it on population, we lose out on more "popular" cities and places. So other suggestions are: * Vigan * Tagaytay * Boracay * Tuguegarao * Naga * Tagbilaran/Panglao * Dumaguete On Fri, Jun 17, 2011 at 10:10 PM, Eugene Alvin Villar wrote: > To be objective about it, I suggest the most populous cities in the > Philippines. > > Looking at this list of cities (sort the table by population): > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_in_the_Philippines > the top 5 most populous cities that don't have aerial imagery yet are: > > 15. Re: [talk-ph] Fwd: [OSM-talk] Bing aerial imagery priorities
To be objective about it, I suggest the most populous cities in the Philippines. Looking at this list of cities (sort the table by population): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_in_the_Philippines the top 5 most populous cities that don't have aerial imagery yet are: 15. General Santos 31. Butuan 38. Cabanatuan 42. Lucena 51. Ormoc We have mappers in Cabanatuan (G-eMapper), Ormoc (axk), Lucena (miamuy), and GenSan (kirkrhean), so having aerial imagery in these cities would prove useful. (And yes, 46 out of the top 50 most populous cities in the Philippines (at least the downtown/poblacian areas) are all covered by aerial imagery. Yay!)
