2009-10-17 Thread albertd...@gmail.com

Hi,
I found that when I imported all my Reminders that it seemed the desk
script gave me problems. It appears that it has to read through all
the reminders before filtering. I ended up getting an "unresponsive
script". You can experience this yourself by simpling importing all
the reminders (Holidays and all) from the Reminder plugin into the
tbGTD.

Also, for me at least with my poor eyesight, I would like to be able
to change the theme to allow a lighter shade of black as when I look
at the calendar, I can't make out the dates that have reminders.

I tried that myself and ...honestly, that is because those standard
examples are not well formulated. They are repetitive reminders
omitting an important piece of information... a leadtime, which
restricts the display of these for a given number of days in the
FUTURE.

My showReminders call in the desk tried to fetch all past reminders up
until 1 days ago and sure, that was a bit exaggerated :-)

Now, think about what that would do if weekly repetitive reminders are
to be displayed for that timeframe! I guess I will mod ReminderMacros,
so that such a behaviour is not possible by default, meaning... any
repetitive task will have a standard leadtime applied to it ...while
also suppressing that rather useless message of "Couldn't find a match
for @@color(red):August 17th@@ in the next 14 days.". I changed the
timeframe anyways, so that reminders will only show up for at most 14
days into the past and 7 into the future (as for the desk). It looks
like reminders deserve much more attention, in terms of their own
category etc... I will look into that.

As for the calendar, you can always change the colours in:
DatePlugin and / or CalendarPlugin

Well, I didn't yet pay too much attention to these colors, but I now
finetuned them to a better visual style, I guess.
(see for the updates).

If you want to change colors in general, let me suggest you use Eric's
PaletteMaker:

Once you have come up with a nice alternative palette (or discover
problems on your way) please post it here!

SinglePageModePlugin always applies to all tiddlers: when a tiddler is
opened, all other tiddlers are automatically closed.

To get the same behavior only for specific tiddlers, instead of using
SinglePageModePlugin, you can use
   http://www.TiddlyTools.com/#CloseOtherTiddlers

After importing this tiddler (note: it's *not* a plugin... do not tag
it with 'systemConfig')... simply embed the following in the desired
tiddlers:
   <>
This will trigger the 'close others' action each time any of those
tiddlers are opened, but not when other tiddlers are opened.

The problem is that, when loading all tiddlers, the core triggers a
complete page refresh (most often because the PageTemplate is
updated). Of course, since you are currently displaying a tiddler
that automatically invokes <>, the refresh will cause
the macro to be re-invoked, resulting in re-importing all the
tiddlers, which triggers another refresh, etc.

One way to work around this is to use the 'label' param to make the
macro into an 'onclick' command link:
   <>
This way, *rendering* the macro doesn't automatically *trigger* an
import, which is only invoked when you actually click on the "get
updates" command link. The subsequent refresh after importing only
redisplays the command link, rather than attempting to trigger another
import right away, thus avoiding the endless loop.

[tw] Disabling plugins browser specific / loading plugins on demand.

Two plugin related questions:
1) I've noticed YourSearchPlugin is broken in Opera. Is there a way I
can stop it from loading for Opera users so that the rest of my site
works fine?

2) I am interested in loading plugins on demand for my TiddlyWeb - is
this possible? Has anyone done it? I've noticed that there is a
loadPlugins function in the TiddlyWiki core but this seems to target
all tiddlers tagged systemConfig. I am hoping to pull down a
systemConfig tagged tiddler from my site, then add it to the store and
load it. Would I need to write my own loadTiddlerAsPlugin code?

Thanks a tiddlybunch

   http://www.TiddlyTools.com/#LoadTiddlersPlugin
includes an 'init' option that will invoke a plugin as soon as it is
loaded from a TiddlyWiki document

   http://www.TiddlyTools.com/#LoadRemotePlugin

2009-10-17 Thread Eric Shulman

> 1) I've noticed YourSearchPlugin is broken in Opera. Is there a way I
> can stop it from loading for Opera users so that the rest of my site
> works fine?

Some time ago, there was a problem with Opera not being able to handle
tiddlers larger than about 32K. This is because of the way that the
browser processes large adjacent text nodes. TiddlyWiki reads these
nodes to extract the tiddlers from the document's 'storeArea' element
and build it's internal data 'store' object, from which it then
invokes the plugins.

However, because of the internal memory architecture of some browsers
(e.g., Opera), large blocks of text are often read in and created as
multiple text nodes, each of which is no bigger than 32K. Typically,
adjacent text nodes are then 'normalized' to merge them into single
nodes of any size, which can then be extracted and used as plugin
source code (i.e., by passing it to the browser's eval() function for
parsing and processing).

The problem is in the way that Opera 'normalizes' the adjacent text
nodes. It seems that after merging all the nodes to create a single
very large text node, it is *truncating* the result to just the first
32K!!

As a result, the remainder of the plugin's source code is missing,
which will almost always create some kind of error when attempting to
load that plugin!

Unfortunately, I don't know of a viable solution at this time... but
I'm looking...

By changing the two color params here you can change the gradient of

You can leave out the gradient macro altogether and insert a style

The default core behavior for search results is to display all the
matching tiddlers, by invoking the core function: story.displayTiddlers
(). SinglePageModePlugin **momentarily bypasses itself when
displayTiddlers() is called**, so that all the matching tiddlers can
be displayed as expected. Note, however, that single-page mode is
still enabled, so subsequently opening any other tiddler *does* close
all the others.

[tw] Re: tbGTD

2009-10-17 Thread albertd...@gmail.com

Hi Tobias,
May I suggest that you either allow the user to set a (past/future)
reminders horizon (with a warning when the value is high enough to
trigger an unresponsive script message) or set a maximum of 7 days
lead-time (which I personally prefer)?

I think you are being generous with 14 days in the past and 7 into the
future.

To me, ideally, in a GTD environment, once the reminder has fallen
due, it should be placed in a tiddler containing tasks done as
appropriate or reset if necessary.

BTW I really like the look and idea of tbGTD.

[tw] Export to Evernote?

2009-10-17 Thread Lee

I would like to export a few hundred record tiddlywiki file, and
import into Evernote. Is there an easy way to do this?

I looked at tiddlytools export, but didn't find an export format that
would work with Evernote. Copy and paste from html works, and retains
the rich text formatting, which is great, but this is tedious.

Can you export in formatted html, with one file per tw record? Not
sure it this would work, but it might be a less tedious way to copy/
paste into Evernote. Thanks.
