[tw] Re: Grounded Theory Coding

2012-07-27 Thread Niklas Wagner
I have been using Tobias Beers hastags plugin for Grounded Theory Coding. I
saved my Interview transcriptions as tiddlys and put an ! before each
timestamp so that each timestamp would make a section. then i coded(what
grounded theoy calls coding we call tagging) for categorys and put
everywhere where my informants spoke about snails a #snail, weeds a #weed
and so on. for apreciated values i put an $ like $order $beefreindly $eco.

when i am using th hastag macro i get an overview about all the sections
with the hastag orderd

hastag x
  tiddler i
section a
section b
section c

This is great and much better than WerftQDA, not to mention useng a very
expensive non free program like MaxQDA. I want to Thank Tobias for this
great Plugin,

For even better usage i would propose to have the following additions

1) an option would be good that only shows the hastags of a certain
tiddler, so i can see the hastags in only one interview. like hashtag
TiddlerA

2) my sections a to big to see in on glace without scrolling the position
of the tag, an extra option of the hastag macro would be great that only
lists the paragraph where the hastag is in instead of the whole section.

2a) (low priortiy) it would be very great if by clicking on the section,
first the pragraph comes an by clicking on the paragrap the section opens.
and py clicking on the section then the whole tiddler opens on the position
of the hashtag

2b) (low priortiy i use the hastag plugin to find interesting sections in
my interview transcriptions that i can use for citation and writing about.
when i mark text to copy it i have to mark the text and leave the
mousecoursor outside of the textbox or it closes.
solution would be that the opening n closing of the sections is not done by
clicking on them bot by a button.

3) the ordering of the sections in the listing of the hastag macro dont
make a tifference between ! or !! or !!!

when i have an subsection !!2:00 in section !003 then it is listed before
!!3:00 in section !001 .

hastag x
  tiddler i
section 2:00
section 3:00

so it would be usefull to have the hieracy of sections in the list of the
hastag plugin like

hastag x
  tiddler i
section 001
   subsection 3:00
section 003
   subsection 2:00

[tw] Merging tiddlers within one Tiddlywiki

2012-04-13 Thread Niklas Wagner
Is there a way to merge two different tiddlers of one Tiddlywiki
similar to the the merging option when you import a Tiddler of the
same Name from another Tiddlywiki file, so that one new tiddler
emerges from two having one title and texts, tagging and tags list
from both?

is there a way to find and replace through all tiddlers?

i searched the group and found:

Normally i just open the TiddlyWikiFile in an editor and do the find/

[tw] Re: Find and Replace in all tiddlers

2012-04-12 Thread Niklas Wagner
I dont think that will work

I what i need is:

for example i have links to the tiddler HardwareStore and to the
tiddler LokalFarmersMarket in a tiddlers which contains an Interview
about where People get their Plants from. Also i have somewhere some
tiddlers that are tagged with HardwareStore.

now i decide for example, that i dont want to have two tiddlers
LokalFarmersMarket and HardwareStore but that i only want to have one
Tiddler called Market.

so i need a find and replace option like it is in every editor that
doesn't care where in the tiddlywiki file the word should be replaced,
and just simply replace LokalFarmersMarket and HardwareStore into
Market everywhere. I am aware that this could destroy the tiddlywiki
System.

[tw] Re: Grounded Theory Coding

2012-04-11 Thread Niklas Wagner
Thank you,

now it works and its great! The overview where the tag occours is very
helpful for my purposes.

But i have pretty big tiddlers, which i want to hashtag, containing
the transcriptions of the interviews. they are up to 1 words/
30pages big

i would have to make lots of sections so that i find the location of
the hastag fast.

Also when i put the same hastag more than once in a tiddler or section
it is not shown

but i think you already have thought about that in this post:

You wrote: Mar 13, 2:10 pm

the http://tiddlywiki.abego-software.de/#YourSearchPlugin plugin does
something like that when you are searching.

2012-04-11 Thread Niklas Wagner

i sometimes make spelling mistakes or just put a second hashtag to the
same subjekt, because, i dont remember that there was already one
hastag for that subjekt.

in normal tagging the autocomplete of the
http://tiddlywiki.abego-software.de/#IntelliTaggerPlugin
prevents that pretty good.

to tidy up the mess i have made,
is there a relplace plugin for tiddlywiki, that i can replace wrong
spelled hastags with the right spelling?

i searched the group and found:
http://groups.google.com/group/tiddlywiki/browse_thread/thread/cfcec80f3c62d0f/896da7a59fef94e9?hl=enlnk=gstq=replace+search#896da7a59fef94e9

but the SearchAndReplacePlugin is not there anymore.

Normally i just open the TiddlyWikiFile in an edtor and do the find/
replace there.

Should I make a new Discussion for this?

if a #tag is a # and a already existing TidllerTitle then it doesent
become a tag?

I dont know if it is so useful to make a distinction between hastags
and tiddlers. i mean when i tag something with #compost the tiddler
compost should be connected with it. the concept that a tag is a
tiddler is so simple and powerful. didnt TaggelyTagging introduce that?
(i dont know, because i only found tiddlywiki in 2008)

What I do is break a longer text down into smaller chunks, what I call
nodes, in such a way that it's easy to view the whole work in sequential,
  section/chapter whatever order.
However because the nodes are now individual tiddlers, they can also be
assembled for viewing according to other criteria, including your topic
  tags.

Ho do you view it then in sequential order?

i tried that and created the sequential order through this plugin
http://sunyit-plugins.tiddlyspace.com/#[[PopTag%20PlugIn]]

this is very nice to make sections of tiddlers into tiddlers and still
keep them transcluded, but for that i need to

cut the section
create a new tiddler
paste the section
name the tiddler
tag the tiddler with the title of the source tiddler
and write in oldtiddler at the position of the cuttet section the popt
makro

cant that be made in one click?

i made an copy of my Tw due to your Experimental Waring Infos an

the #words are now bigger and links, but the Tiddler Search results

only contains

Error in macro hashtag

which is:

Error while executing macro hashtag:
TypeError: store.getTiddlerText(cmt.exclude) is nul

:(

I believe your HashTagsPlugin could be used very good for my purposes
of Grounded Theory Tagging, because it is very fast in handling.

right now i create of each section, which should be tagged, a new
Tiddler and use the PoptPlugin(taken from http://stevesuny.tiddlyspace.com/)
to transclude this new tiddler into the old place of the original
tiddler. this takes long time of copy and paste and typing compared to
your solution.

I am sure there are many people here who could do it (I couldn't), but
unless you can find someone with the same desire to scratch that particular
itch, you'll probably have to offer to pay for the work involved in
developing such a custom plugin. If you indicate a willingness to do so, I
would think you'd likely get followups via private email to discuss further
 details.

right now i have no money for that.

also i am indetermined if i should tell the community all my ideas or
save them for when i have enough money to buy programmers free from

[tw] Grounded Theory Coding

2012-02-24 Thread Niklas Wagner
Hello,

I would like to use Tiddlywiki for Coding in Grounded Thory.

Coding here means to tag certain parts of a text.

For my example, in my interviews on Neatness in Gardens I have a tag
Snail, I want to mark all sections of in the transkrips with this
tag. And then when i open this tag i want to see an overview of all
the section i marked with this tag.

I could just simply copy the whole trancript in a tiddler and copy
paste all the sections in which there is talked about snails into
the tiddly snail. After a while a I would have all snail sections
of all lnterviews in the tiddly snail

But i would be nice to have it more dynamic:
That I can tag sections inside a tiddly. And then have all these
sections listed in the Tiddly of this tag, in such a way, that they
are linked to the original text tiddly and that by one click I can see
what is written before and after the tagged section.

Are there any plugins which can do that?

I hope I did formulate in english what i want to say in such a matter
that you understand it.

sincerely,

Niklas wagner

i am so happy to have found tiddlywiki because it is close to exaclty
what i have ben searching for for years. An hypertextual

Thank you both for the fast Answers.

Eric you schould put your explanation about how to download a remote
wiki through save target as on

You must *never* use the browser's FileSave as... command to save a
TiddlyWiki document.  This is because the browser does *not* save the
original document source as *read* from the stored file, but rather a
re-generated version of the document source based on what is currently
loaded into the browser and, because all TiddlyWiki document
content is being dynamically-rendered after loading the file, the
browser's version of the document source is different from the actual
 stored file.

To properly save a *local* TiddlyWiki document, you *must* use the
save changes command in the sidebar.

To properly download a *remote* TiddlyWiki document: starting from a
link to the URL, *right*-click on that URL and use the Save Target
as... command... this directly downloads and stores an exact copy of
the document on your local system, without any intervening re-
 interpretation by the browser.

Javascript is an interpreted language;  as such, errors in the code
are not reported until that piece of code is actually invoked.  Thus,
the 'fact' that your document seems to be working OK after dismissing
the message box is an illusion... your document was *not* correctly
saved and the TW core code in the file *has* been munged up.  As a
consequence, even though you might not have encountered any errors
yet, you may still get a potentially fatal error when a damaged part
of the TW source code is called.

Note: for the specific file in question (TiddlyTools' TW
+ImportExport.html), you can also go to:
    http://www.TiddlyTools.com/#Download
and then *left*-click on the link there.  Those links have been
specially prepared to use a server-side script (download.php) that
automatically downloads the file instead of viewing in your browser.

[tw] Vocab Trainer

2008-12-18 Thread Niklas Wagner

I came to Tiddlywiki through the Search for a Zettelkasten engl
slipnotebox.

With a slipnote Box you can learn Vokabular very good. You write on
one side the english word and on the other the forigin and grammatical
codes.

For learnig you take a bunch of cards. seeing the english word you try
to remember the forigin and check if you were right by turning the
card, when you were right you put the card away, if not you put it
again at the end of your pack.

You can also learn building sentences by randomly picking cards and
trying to build a sentence from the words.

I think one could modefy Tiddly for this purpose.

- Instead of title, text and tags one sould have fields for english,
forigin language and grammatical classification

- An option that the other side of the card/other language is hidden
and shown throug a klick.

- An option to randomly pic tiddlers for sentence building practice.

[tw] Plugin for writing text on connection of Tiddlers

2008-11-29 Thread Niklas Wagner

Hello,

I need a add on that I can write a text on the connection of two
tiddlers...

I need this because it is very useful to write about relations of
concepts.

The normal tiddlers have the title for the word describing the concept
and the text for description or definition of the concept. now i would
like to have the possibility of writing a text about the connection of
the two titles.

For example i have a tiddler on Frame Analysis and one on Narration
Analysis. i want to write about their differences. so i want to have a
tiddler connected to both Titles.

Anone knows such a plugin or want to program one?
