Urgent Urgent Plz Help

2002-05-07 Thread # Lalit Nagpal #

i have set multipart/form-data tag in my html form
tag. i need to get a form filled in by the visitors
and also an attachment on the same form (file upload).
i am using oreilly classes. problem is when i try to
get data + file on the server using MultipartRequest
class of oreilly i get the error "content type is not
multipart". I am using MultipartRequest class
getParameter function to get the data, and the file
upload works as usual. Any Ideas why this error is
occuring.

This error occurs in IE, On Netscape it works quiet
fine

Plz help.
Thanx in advance.

I am currently caught up in a dilemma , for some reason i was using 3.1
version of tomcat and my web app , which was basically a jsp and simple bean
oriented was working fine but i had to shift to 3.2 but know nothing is
working , i am getting strange errors like "can't write jsp etc " plus other
errors like bean as illegeal argumnets and when sometimes the "can't write
error was solved by simply copy paste the code into a new page or by
changing the directory of the jsp" there are problems even when there is no
code in the called jsp. I am really confused what to do please help me

IMO, PWS can hardly be called a web server...
Download Apache for windows, it's easier to run than personal Web Server.
And you can always get an ASP module for Apache. There's one for unix, so
there's surely one for win32.

Ciao. AD.

API is available on a per cpu basis at 2,500USD/cpu. Checks can be
made out to Michael Wentzel and sent directly to ME! ;)

Seriously though obviously you didn't check out the tomcat website
before posting this message. If you had you would have realized that
tomcat is released under the Apache license which is open source.

In the future please read up on tomcat before asking questions here.
The volume is quite high on this list and therefore the individuals
on the list do not typically care to get messages such as this.

Feel free to send me my fee and you can use Tomcat to your hearts
content though. I look forward to receiving your check in the mail!)

www.coreservlets.com Is an excellent book for people starting out with JSP and

Tomcat Kickstart by Sams is a great book for starting out as well.

I haven't looked at the documentation that ships with Tomcat in a while but I

3. In my web.xml file i have only servlet mapping. I'll use this mapped names in JSP's
to call the servlets. I am mentioning a tld file there

i dont know what the DNS people have done there in their server.xml file. Any way we
have a seperate dir under webapps just like

Assuming the web-application is properly designed,
put it under the webapps folder, and Tomcat will
detect it. If it is in a WAR, Tomcat will expand
it first.

If you want to develop a web-application, see

Put the content under the web apps.

Create a new folder which says ur application name
.
Put ur Jsp  under the application and create w
web-inf and place all the class files.

This will work and we have tested a application

Dear Sir/Madam,

We are running into setup problem when trying to run tomcat 4.0.3 with

#Software: Microsoft Internet Information Services 5.0
#Version: 1.0

#Fields: time c-ip cs-method cs-uri-stem sc-status

We have tried many different versions on different machines. Some
machines accept tomcat 3.2.3 with IIS 5.0. But most of the newer
machines do not accept tomcat IIS combination.

This is very important to have smooth integration of both for our
project.

Please help. If you need more information to help us, please let us know.

liberation of Angola, for which my father has been fighting for since 1966 has no
future.

President Dos Santos, remains a colossal failure since he assumed
office. He is running a government of greed and gross marginalisation.
The United States of America, the United Kingdom and other Western
powers, are aware of this glaring fact, and have done nothing about
it. It is most unfortunate and disheartening that my father has died.
Now UNITA is like a herd of cattle without shepherd. Prominent members
are now lobbying to assume office as leader to enrich themselves
and some of them who see me as a threat to their ambitions, are
even plotting to kill me. However, I am a young man who has ambitions
and is not in any way interested in wars.

I write to seek for your urgent help in respect to safe keeping
of some of my father's money(US$25.4Million) that arose from Diamonds
sales. This money(US$25.4Million) was already on its way to my father's
Swiss bank account and is in transit with a safe deposit company
in Amsterdam, Netherlands. We used major part of our money in prosecuting
the war. It is very clear with the way things are now, that President
Dos Santos will freeze my father's assests and accounts in this
country to ground UNITA. I wish to use this money to safeguard my future.

It is paramount that you understand that the kind of trust and confidence
being reposed in you is extraordinary, and that this is an act of
desperation. ALSO, THIS CONTACT WITH YOU SHUOLD BE TREATED WITH
UTMOST SECRECY AND CONFIDENTIALITY.

The help I need from you is clearing the money which is deposited
with a security company in Amsterdam, after which, a professional
banker, who is an attaché of IMF will join you and assist in depositing
the money and lodging into an account in your name. The money shall
remain in your custody till I decide to leave Angola. In the interim,
the money can be invested into riskfree profitable ventures, and
there will an agreement by my lawyer to protect my interest. I have
all the documents that will enable you claim the consignment from
the security company. I will reward you with 20% of the money.

I to thank you in advance in anticipation for your assistance in
enabling me achieve this goal.

Please contact me whether or not you are interested in assisting
me. This will enable me scout for another partner in the event of noninterest on your
part.

With best regards,

Mr.Thomas Savimbi.

urgent help please!

2002-08-02 Thread Richard Diaz

I hope this is formated well for this list-serv...

problem: application scope objects launched by web.xml

In my Tomcat boot sequence (web.xml file) I am
launching a servlet called InitTwc.

This servlet creates and sets the values for an
application scope object called TwcMaxes. I have
verified that my TwcMaxes object is created in the
application scope and its values are set
(TwcMaxes.iMaxBookmarks = 3).

However once TOMCAT is done booting and when I go to
reference the value in a JSP page OR in another
servlet the value for TwcMaxes.iMaxBookmarks is 0
(zero).

My guess only is that I cannot set values during the
web.xml boot up servlet launch, I hope I am wrong. Any
help is much apprecited. I have been stuck on this for
days =p

Re: Urgent help

2001-04-09 Thread Kenneth Westelinck

Hi,

I don't think you can use Apache as a real FTP server. You can, of course,
download and upload stuff to your server via HTTP.

If you want to us a real FTP server it depends on your OS which server to
use. If you're using a UNIX like operating system the best choice (I think)
is to use wu-ftp. You can download this server from www.wuftpd.org . If
you're using Windows you can search www.download.com for an FTP server to do
the trick.

Hope this helps.

regards,

Kenneth Westelinck

Difficult question Urgent!!!

2001-05-17 Thread mohamed imdadullah

Hhi all,

I have Tomcat running under apache, i have been able to have same
authentication for both apache (serving perl) and tomcat(serving jsp).

The problem is , after authenticating user in jsp, i need to get the user
name of the person who has logged in to make further queries with the
database.

I dunno how it is done, i dont even know whether it could could be retrieved
from the http session.

iam pretty sure that the user name can be extracted as the apache maintains
a different session for the perl part and another for the jsp part

any ideas would be appreciated

URGENT !!! Please HELP !!!

2001-11-21 Thread Renato Romano

Hi,
I succesfully configured my webapp for login authentication, but I get
a "Page not Found" Error, when a user access DIRECTLY the login page,
(and not a protected area!!) and correctly gives his username and
password. Probably Tomcat simply doesn't know WHERE to forward the
user, because he didn't request a protected page!!
When using Tomcat 3.2 I solved this by looking at the
"tomcat.auth.originalLocation" parameter in the session object, and
then defining a "default" value for this attribute when it was not
set.
How to do this with Tomcat 4 ??
Thanks.

Getting java.io.StreamCorruptedException (URGENT).

2001-11-27 Thread Narinder Singh

Hi

I am using tomcat 3.2.3.
I am getting java.io.StreamCorruptedException while trying to read objects
from servlet.

Here is the Exception (stack trace)

java.io.StreamCorruptedException: InputStream does not contain a serialized
object
at java.io.ObjectInputStream.readStreamHeader(Unknown Source)
at java.io.ObjectInputStream.(Unknown Source)
at com.quark.client.Connect.uploadObject(Connect.java:229)

and the code for getting the object follows

   outputToServlet =new
ObjectOutputStream(urlConnection.getOutputStream());
   outputToServlet.writeObject(objectToServer);
   inputFromServlet = new ObjectInputStream(urlConnection.getInputStream());
// Exception occurs here

I have narrowed down the problem to the 'ObjectInputStream' class's
readStreamHeader() method.
the exception is throws on STREAM_MAGIC mismatch.

Also this exception occurs only for some particular objects (i.e for
particular state).
Can any one please tell what might be the possible cause of problem.

Narinder

 Jovie,
you need the Java Secure Socket Extension (JSSE) which you can get at
www.javasoft.com. If you have it, then you read the SSL Configuration How To
off of the tomcat install.

LoadModule webapp_module modules/mod_webapp.so
AddModule mod_webapp.c
WebAppConnection conn warp localhost:8008
WebAppDeploy examples conn /examples
WebAppInfo /webapp-info

¿Why don't you try to put the LoadModule and the addModule in the same
place than the others?. Or delete the line LoadModule weapp .

The else seems nice. Here you are an example working the loadmudule
and addmodule are with the others...

## Confituración del conector WARP para Apache

#AddModule mod_webapp.c
WebAppConnection conn warp gallegos:8008

WebAppDeploy examples conn /examples
WebAppDeploy pruebasconn /pruebas
WebAppDeploy managerconn /manager

Also, ensure that you have this in your server.xml.

in which conn is the connection name defined in http.conf to tomcat.

Anyone has any idea? I can not get Tomcat running on Appache!!

LoadModule webapp_module modules/mod_webapp.so
AddModule mod_webapp.c
WebAppConnection conn warp localhost:8008
WebAppDeploy examples conn /examples
WebAppInfo /webapp-info

¿Why don't you try to put the LoadModule and the addModule in the same
place than the others?. Or delete the line LoadModule weapp .

The else seems nice. Here you are an example working the loadmudule
and addmodule are with the others...

## Confituración del conector WARP para Apache

#AddModule mod_webapp.c
WebAppConnection conn warp gallegos:8008

WebAppDeploy examples conn /examples
WebAppDeploy pruebasconn /pruebas
WebAppDeploy managerconn /manager

Also, ensure that you have this in your server.xml.

1. I want the Jakarta service keep functioning when an user logoff from

2. I want to set the timeout of the session to 1 hour or more (now, if
I let any webappication open without doing nothing, after 30 minutes I

session object [urgent!]

2002-04-02 Thread Nancy Crisostomo Martinez

Hi everybody!

I need your help..
I'm trying to track some attributes I added to the session object, but I
can't...

I have an html file (main.htm) which opens a new window browser
(validate.jsp) when you press a button to access to one service...
Then when the user is validated in the validate.jsp file, I added two
attributes to the session object like this:

 ...
 <%
 if (validUser(id_Usuario)){
session.setAttribute("numero",id_Usuario);
session.setAttribute("edad",num);
 ...

and finally the window is closed and another new window is opened (
portal.jsp ).

 %>

window.open("portal.jsp","","top=0,left=0,width=791,height=520,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,status=yes")

 return eval('close()')

 <%
 }
 %>

The portal.jsp file is formed by frames:

   Su browser no acepta Frames.

In the left frame (FrameIzquierda) I have a jsp file (izquierda.jsp)
that reads the new session's attributes (numero, edad) and they are
displayed perfectly when the
portal.jsp file is opened. Moreover, in the right frame I put a jsp file
(blanco.jsp) that also reads the attributes 'id' and 'ag' and they are
perfectly displayed too.
But the problem becomes when I click a link placed in the izquierda.jsp
file :

 .
 test
 or
 test
 .

The top.jsp file also reads the attributes (numero, edad)...
In both cases the session's attributes are not displayed, they only
return a "null" value, and the session id (session.getId()) is
differtent because when the link is
pressed, a new session object is createdso.. I don't know how to fix
this
I really need to get the two attributes I stored previously in the
session object...

Could you please help me???
I'm desperate!!

Thank you in advance..
Nancy.

2002-05-03 Thread Laura

Hi all,

please help me!! I'll explain you my problem.

I have a servlet which has to recognize two ip addresses. If the servlet
finds that the request is from the IP1 (server1), it sets a shop login
variable to x, else if the request IP is IP2 (server2) it sets the shop
login to .
The problem is this: the ecommerce page is on a machine 1 while the pay
gateway is on the machine2 (my servlets).
The user buys something on the machine 1 and when he has to pay he is
redirected to my servlet on machine 2.

I use this instructions for distinguishing the request IP:

String senderIP = request.getRemoteAddr();

BUT THIS IS THE HOST IP AND NOT THE IP OF MY SERVER (server1 or server2 with
two shop login different).

How can I know the request ip of my server?

Please help me!

Thanks for your help

Session Problem - URGENT!!!!

2002-05-10 Thread Rajesh Harikrishnan

Hi All,

I am having a problem with the session objects, let me first explain how we have used
the session object in our application

we have an application which is initalizing an 'SESSION' object when the user log's
into the system.
This object is used to store three attributes,
1) we have used 'session.setAttribute()' and 'session.setValue()' methods for creating
key pair value objects in the session.
2) We have also used the 'session.getAttribute()' and 'session.getValue()' for
retriving the data from the session object.
3) We have not used the 'session.removeAttribute()' any where in our application.
4) But in all pages, to check the session object validity, we have used
'request.getSession()'.

Does calling this creates a attribute set in a old session object to be incorrectly
re-written?.

The problem:
We are getting this following problem randomly,

The session object exists, but the attributes inside the session object unbinds and
returns a null value!!.

We are using 'Apache1.3.20+Tomcat3.2.2' for our application. we have also set our
'setMaxInactiveInterval(3)' when creating the session object for the first time.

What is the cause of the attributes being removed from the session object, or in case
is the session object itself is created as a new object during 'request.getSession()'
calls and causing this problem.

Have you people faced similar problems??.

Please post your reply on this issue, this is a very urgent issue to be solved.

Thanks in advance

Regards
H.Rajesh

Automatic update... Urgent!

Hi, all. Here is my question:

I am doing some online transaction systems. A sub-module call funds transfer

in the next 10 days. However, I do not have any idea for the system after 10
days. (E.g. automatic update the data on the above transaction when the
specific date is coming.). Is there any code to enable automatic update on
the transaction when the date is matched? Currently, I wish to develop such
system using JSP together with Apache Tomcat 4.0.3.

Your help is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What "javax" classes are you trying to access?

There are a lot of jars that include the javax package and
a lot of classes "under" this package. servlet.jar contains
"javax.servlet" and is already available to all web
applications since is is located in lib/common.

Cheers,

If you put the classes into the /lib directory, they should be

You can place the jar package under "\web-inf\lib" if you want available to
that application only or you could also place it in the \lib
directory for all apps under Tomcat to access it.

Btw, what does "10x2 all" mean??

It means "thanks" as in "ten-x" (say it, then realise how lame it is).

Path Problem- URGENT

2001-02-27 Thread amitabh dubey

Hello,
   I am using Tomcat 3.1 on a win2k platform. I am
able to access my servlets from a browser, but am
unable to access my html and jsp pages from within my
servlets themselves. If i choose a path like
"index.htm", the complete path assumed is
c:\jakarta-tomcat\bin\index.htm. If i change it to
/index.htm, the assumed path is c:index.htm. If i
choose the path as ./index.htm, the path assumed is
c:\jakarta-tomcat\bin\./index.htm.

Please can someone tell me hoow do i access a file say
"error.jsp" from withing my servlets that are
installed in
c:\jakarta-tomcat\webapps\LDS\WEB-INF\classes

Thank you
Amitabh

servlet context, urgent !!!

2003-01-15 Thread Peng Annie
Hi,

I am useing Apache2, Tomcat4. Now I got a problem about the servlet context.
I have an main application which was configured to the DocumentRoot in
httpd.conf, and the alias of this main application is just under the url
root (http://servername/index.jsp will direct user to
webapps/MainApplication/index.jsp). The programe need to redirect user to
another application webapps/SecondApplication/, so in a servlet of the
MainApplication, I use the following statements:

ServletContext sc =
this.getServletConfig().getServletContext().getContext("/SecondApplication")
;

sc.getRequestDispatcher("/servlet/ControllerServlet").forward(request,
response);

But it doesn't work, I always get error

The requested resource (/servlet/ControllerServlet) is not
available.

It seems Tomcat4 tried to find this ControllerServlet in the
MainApplication. How can I get the context of SecondApplication? Should I do
sth with the web.xml?

By the way, the above way works fine on Tomcat3.2.

Please help, many thanks!

Annie

URGENT: Tomcat crash

2003-03-11 Thread updates
We are running Tomcat 4.1.18 on windows 2000 sp3. Our backend database is D3NT (Pick
variant). We are running JDK 1.4.1_02 and using the JDBC-ODBC bridge to connect to
our database (no JDBC driver is available). Frequently throughout the day, we get the
following error trace (always under very heavy load). After the errors occur, tomcat
has to be restarted. The database continues to respond to requests properly. Please
help if you can. Thanks.

Hi,

I don't have a precise answer, but you can look in the jakarta projects
list. There might be a utility that evaluates performance of a java program.
There might be a utility that monitors memory usage. I am sure a tool exists
out there to do this kind of thing. Sorry I can't help more.

See ya

RE: URGENT: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError

2003-03-31 Thread Shapira, Yoav

Howdy,
First, you need to tell if you're really leaking memory. You can do
this with a Profiler, e.g. OptimizeIt or JProbe.

It may be that you're not leaking memory, you just need more than the
default 64MB. There are many JVM runtime parameters available for
tuning the heap, the key of which is -Xmx. Look at the VM Options page
on java.sun.com for details.

Place a simple JSP that just displays the Time/date/a simple string.
Try contacting this JSP.

If this does not work, then there's something wrong at the service provider's
end.
1. Do they provide servlet/JSP support at all ?
2. Are you required to pay extra for servlet/JSP support ?

If this sample JSP works as expected:
1. Have the files been uploaded without errors ? Were there any errors reported
during upload ? I knew a case where two new recruits ignored transmission error
reports.

2. Does your service provider require you to use a complete server.xml ?
Tomcat let's use mention just as much as we need. I do not know if this a
feature with all servlet containers.

3. Do they support the serverlet API spec that your are working with ? i.e. if
you are using 2.2, do they support 2.2 ?
