[SlimDevices: Touch] SB Touch requires DNS?
So, yesterday my Internet connection went out... and I found out that my SB Touch would barely function, even though I have a local Squeezebox Server installation. It'd make sense to me that anything Internet wouldn't work, but why would it block the UI with an error about no DNS server when all I want to do is play music locally from my SBS? FYI... I have two Touches and this happens periodically but not too often. It only happens on one of my players, though (the most often-used one). Are you sure it's not related to power outages? I am running the latest non-beta firmware and this happens on both of my Touches when the power goes out and comes back on. When the power goes out and the player is in an "Off" state, when the power comes back it ends up in an "On" state (which is usually Now Playing) and I have to turn it off. [SlimDevices: Touch] Power outage behavior
I have two Touches and have the screens turned off when they are not in use. However, if I have a power outage, when the power comes back they end up in the UI and eventually to the clock screensaver. Is there any way to make the Touch stay "off" when the power comes back after an outage? Not completely sure, but you may be able to use the transcoding support (i.e. convert.conf, custom-convert.conf) along with the appropriate transcoding binary to play the audio stream of a video file. [SlimDevices: Touch] Applet reinstall after upgrade -- normal?
I haven't had the Touch very long (have had Classic and Boom for awhile, though), but it seems like whenever a Squeezebox software update comes along, I have to re-install one of my apps else it doesn't work after the upgrade. The app in question is the Custom Clock applet. Does anyone know if this is normal, or whether it's app-specific? Agree with others -- you are sending a fixed stream over a data connection. As long as you aren't getting rebuffering where the stream stops and has to catch up, it should be the same quality. Also, it's not using UDP so dropping packets to keep things moving isn't an option. When I first setup my Squeezeboxes, I was having problems with Wi-Fi but would also have periodic problems with my notebook, too. Upgrading to a better router fixed this. I can't remember having a Wi-Fi problem since I got a better router (D-Link DIR-825 rev A, FYI). It also had better range. When I had problems, these weren't quality problems. The stream would just stop because the wireless connection would get reset or the router would reboot itself. [SlimDevices: Touch] New to Touch: less configurable from Web UI?
Hi, I have been using Squeezebox for a number of years, but only with SB3 Classics and a Boom. I just added a Touch to my collection and have noticed that it seems to be a lot less configurable from the Web UI -- a lot more seems to take place on the device itself. Am I missing something, or is this just the way it is? I ordered mine through the Canadian Logitech site, where it was just recently added. It said "In Stock" when I ordered it, but after not shipping for a week I called them... apparently it's out of stock and they are expecting a shipment in the first week of December.
