That's good news. In fact, I downloaded the latest source this morning
to do just that. After about the 5th thing I needed to install, I think
it was Pango, there was another thing and I just gave up. I think Gutsy
has 0.6.4; so when I upgrade to that, I reckon I'll get it.

Do you have an alternate solution for installing it on Feisty?

Thanks for this and for the tip on deleting the database. I did that
and reindexed. Oddly enough there is one directory of images with exif
Comments that are not getting picked up. Is there a limit on the amount
of material it will index, or some other limitation that would cause
this? The directory is in the same directory as others which have
images that are getting found. I know: Install 0.6.4 and see if it
works. :-) Maybe tonight I will have more time and energy than I did
this morning before work.

Thanks again for a fantastic program!

Anita

I am convinced now that this is expected behavior. I realized that
adding metadata to the image did not really change the file. I
discovered to my delight that if I edit a text file and immediately do a
search on the term, I find that file. It only makes sense that just
adding a tag or metadata would not make a change that gets picked up in
the same way.

I did not find anything in the manpages that tells me how to do a new
index like tracker does when it first starts. I assume that doing that
might pick up the added comments in exif on images.

Is there a way to create a fresh database?

Thanks,
Anita

Ok, a little more on this. The directory where the image is:

/home/ajlewis2/media/pictures/

/media is a separate partition, but was mounted at boot and therefore
when indexing was done initially.

I added the metadata after the initial indexing was done.

Now I have found more. If I move the image from that location to my
Desktop it is now found as Image. If I then move it back to the
original directory it is still found.

So, if I tag or edit the exif comment on my images, what would I do to
get the information reindexed so that it can be found with tracker. It
doesn't seem that moving the files would be optimal. I could move the
pictures directory to my Desktop, edit the metadata and then move it
back. Does that make sense, or should it be necessary.

Thanks again. At least I think I have a solution, even if it is not the
best one.
