That's quite odd. SQLite support is part of the Python 2.5 distribution. Of course, it is possible to build Python without SQLite support and that's probably the case here. There's no way around this (SQLite support is essential) - would your hosting service be willing to install SQLite support? Since you have python 2.5, you should also have the python module sqlite3. It seems Pootle is falling back to pysqlite2 which is only supposed to be needed with older versions of python (like 2.4).
