[Bug 1768230] Re: Long time booting : Failed to connect to lvmetad. Falling back to device scanning.
Then I tried to download ubuntu-18.04.2 LTS Desktop image, and did a fresh installation. Over there I couldn't find the lvmetad problem during startup. Then I checked the kernel it installed with HWE - 4.18.0.15 and initramfs-tools - 0.130ubuntu3.6 version. Then tried to download 4.15.0.46 generic kernel and removed the HWE kernel and then rebooted and see the issue persists. Then tried to install initramfs-tools - 0.130ubuntu3.7 version with 4.15.0.46 generic kernel then the issue resolved. But in my #92 , i tried with ubuntu-18.04.1 LTS desktop image and installed only initramfs-tools - 0.130ubuntu3.7 over there the delay issue still persist. So my question, even in my case fresh installation of 18.04.2 works fine even after installed initramfs-tools 3.7 vers. But in fresh installation of 18.04.1 failed after installed initramfs-tools 3.7 vers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1768230 Title: Long time booting : Failed to connect to lvmetad. [Bug 1768230] Re: Long time booting : Failed to connect to lvmetad. Falling back to device scanning.
Issue still persists in initramfs-tools - 0.130ubuntu3.7 version $18.04.1 LTS (Bionic Beaver)" $4.15.0-46-generic $dpkg -l | grep initramfs-tools ii initramfs-tools0.130ubuntu3.7 ii initramfs-tools-bin0.130ubuntu3.7 ii initramfs-tools-core 0.130ubuntu3.7 $cat /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume RESUME=UUID=115a16f5-bb9a-4ff2-a7b7-cf143deefcd4 RESUME=auto / none works fine as a workaround. Also removing this file "/etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume " also fixed the issue. @kai I tested by switching from UEFI to Legacy mode. There is no problem at all. No need to switch to noacpi mode while installation. After booting everything got worked. lspci listing properly. [Bug 1818816] Re: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS + "lspci: Cannot open /sys/bus No such file" on Dell 5820 Tower
Hi Kai, If I use GDM, I can see display blinking aggressively. And for LightDM the service itself not starting getting below error lightdm:1284): CRITICAL **: x_server_local_get_authority_file_path: assertion 'server != NULL' failed update-alternatives: error: no alternatives for x86_64-linux-gnu_gfxcore_conf lightdm[1484]: message repeated 3 times: [ /etc/modprobe.d is not a file] Even I reinstalled lightdm packages and rebooted, still no luck. As a workaround for now, I use acpi=off in grub to make machine back to graphical mode. But in this case also, if I reboot the machine hangs somewhere else, then hard reset is required. @Kai do you need any specific logs or any command output for your investigation?
