[Bug 260918] Re: needed: libv4l and associated application patches (or gspca stopped working in 2.6.27)

2008-10-24 Thread kmon
I've tried 0.5.2 with this webcam:
Bus 001 Device 007: ID 046d:09a4 Logitech, Inc.

and it works with cheese, so great!

I'll test with xps's webcam later and report.

[Bug 281771] Re: webcam doesn't work at 640x480, only resolutions lower than 176x144

2008-10-24 Thread kmon
I think the bug is introduced with gstreamer support for libv4l, since
the patch was dropped in a recent upload and when reapplied the bug came
back. I don't now why since gst-launch does work with lastest gstreamer
upload, but cheese doesn't.

I've writen about this in this other bug report:

2008-10-20 Thread kmon
With libv4l-0_0.5.1-1 from the PPA cheese still doesn't work. Player
does, as so does ekiga. Anyone knows why my webcam works without the
libv4l? As I'm guessing any app not using that library is working here
(mplayer, ekiga 2) but cheese that uses gstreamer doesn't.

The weird thing is that gst-lauch does work first. Then, if I launch
cheese (which doesn't work) it will stop working also. The gstreamer
patch is not good enough here.

[Bug 281771] Re: cheese doesn't work, only shows white screen

Hi

I think it's not cheese fault:

This works:
gst-launch-0.10 -v v4l2src ! video/x-raw-yuv,width=176,height=144 !

but increasing the size of the capture window fails, but --verbose

[Bug 275165] Re: gnome-main-menu should provide a button to shutdown

still don't know how to add it to the menu via gconf, so I've added with

I'm willing to create a path for this if someone can help me with some

option to log out, not to shutdown the computer. I think this is a patch
in ubuntu because in opensuse's implementation this option is visible:

[Bug 216197] Re: no weather information in gnome panel

2008-04-12 Thread kmon
Hi

Yes, I use network manager. My internet access is working berfore gnome-
panel starts. I get weather reports on my locations, but it seems that I
the Home location is not remembered anymore after the updates. If I set
the home location and re-login the bug reapperars and in the clock
applet I can only see the date/time. Once I set my home location the
weather info appears at the left of the date/time.

thanks

[Bug 202508] Re: ssh -X no longer works

2008-04-07 Thread kmon
No luck:

I've set:

# What ports, IPs and protocols we listen for
Port 22
# Use these options to restrict which interfaces/protocols sshd will bind to
#ListenAddress ::
ListenAddress 0.0.0.0

in the config file, and restarted the ssh server and the error persists.
However, the bindind error does not occur. I've tried again the test on
2 port and no luck, thanks

[Bug 32906] Re: sudo shouldn’t ABSOLUTELY NEED to look up the host it’s running on

2008-03-13 Thread kmon

Hi
Yesterday I did a dist-upgrade from gutsy, I haven't touched my sudoers file:

sudo grep -v '^#' /etc/sudoers | grep -v '^$'
Defaults!lecture,tty_tickets,!fqdn
rootALL=(ALL) ALL
%admin ALL=(ALL) ALL

I found the bug and had to add a manual entry in etc/hosts:
127.0.0.1 cube

This happens both on my laptop and desktop computer (both upgraded from
gutsy to hardy)

thanks

I forgot to say that this is a regression, since in gutsy it worked.

[Bug 150030] Re: Tracker Search Tool doesn't display 'Applications' results?

2008-02-03 Thread kmon
Hi

I'm using ubuntu gutsy and I still have this problem. Do I have to do
any workaround? I use the gnome-main-menu applet, but I assume it has
nothing to to.
