Re: [Bug 497296] Re: juk crashed with SIGSEGV in QObjectPrivate::deleteChildren()

2009-12-29 Thread Tai133
Not currently. Juk now acts the same as Amarok and Dragon Player since
my upgrade to Karmic: MP3 (and other media types) files simply don't
play. I don't believe this is a problem with Juk.

(Media files DO play in vlc and totem)

I'm going to try a clean install. Thanks for looking at this.

Xubuntu 9.04, Firefox 3.0.16 here with same problem, and:

SO:

Please start Firefox from the command line with "firefox

persists.

[Bug 501356] Re: [Karmic] No sound on Toshiba Satellite U300

2009-12-29 Thread Shang Wu
Sorry if I was not being clear. The previous kernel (and even the
current kernel) was working without the parameter. But now, even if I
boot into the previous kernel, it doesn't work either without the
probe_mask option.

Thanks Daniel

[Bug 485108] Re: [IBM 1834RTG] late resume failure

2009-12-29 Thread Prof Shadoko
It looks like, on my Fujitsu T5010 at least, the suspend and hibernate
work (almost) perfectly if I unmount or remove the SD card from the SD
card reader slot prior to suspending/hibernating. I found that trick on
some ubuntuforum thread. I always had an SD card in the slot (it's the
best way to not loose it!), and never thought that could be a problem
(it was working fine on Jaunty).

There is still a problem though: the wireless card doesn't wake up. But
that's outside the scope of the present bug report.

I am also affected by such a bug,

but mine is caused by changing power sources (EG from AC to battery)

The desired affect is the computer to act the same regardless of power
changes during the sleep state, unless the battery is dead.

Sorry but all that did was remove all my favourites. Put favourites back
and same crash when trying to move an entry up the Bookmarks list.

This problem does not occur for me if I move a bookmark entry that is
normally visible on screen.

This problem does occur for me if I have to scroll down the bookmarks
menu then try to move an entry up the list.

This problem does occur with both single entries and entry groups.

that you reported reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop
CD of the development release - Lucid Lynx? It would help us greatly if
you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next

[Bug 500226] Re: Jmonkeyengine demo causes system to freeze

2009-12-29 Thread Sami Pietila
I don't think X crashes. It just freezes (or freezes mouse/keyboard)
until the java process (or other OpenGL application) is forcefully
killed. That is, if I use ssh-session to kill OpenGL app, the X starts
to work again.

[Bug 501391] [NEW] df Plugin sends Warning Mails for tmpfs Filesystems

2009-12-29 Thread Betz Stefan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: munin

Greetings,

i am using Hardy Heron on some Server systems. Whenever i monitor this
Systems with munin, munin master sends me Mails for Filesystems (type
tmpfs). The Graph shows "nan" as Value.

The df Plugin itself make a config for these Filesystems, but never
return a value to the munin master. I think this should be easy to fix
(especially for Hardy).

[Bug 151674] Re: compiz+nvidia: tearing in xvideo (totem/mplayer/VLC/XINE)

2009-12-29 Thread Murky
I was searching for a solution for more than one year and I was very
frustrated about all these "Enable Sync To VBlank in Compiz"-Answers. So
I started to get into this Compiz- and nVidia-Constellation and searched
for a solution on my own. And I finally can say: I found it. The Problem
is, that Ubuntu is starting Compiz with the session immediatly and is
ignoring the VSync of Nvidia. So you have to start Compiz after 'nvidia-
settings -l'.

Let's Start.

(I am using the german version of Ubuntu 9.10, so the names of programs
can be different, than explained)

1. You have to disable Compiz in Appereance by turning off the Desktop Effects.
2. Create a new Entry in your StartUp-Programs with the command:
nvidia-settings -l
3 Create another Entry in your StartUp-Programs with the command: compiz-wait
4. Now open your Terminal and type: sudo gedit /usr/local/bin/compiz-wait

Now copy this text into the Editor:

#!/bin/bash
sleep 3
compiz --replace --sm-disable --ignore-desktop-hints
emerald --replace

Save & Exit.

The last line is optional, it is only necessary, if you are using
Emerald.

5. Type in the Terminal: sudo chmod a+x /usr/local/bin/compiz-wait

You can try the command "compiz-wait", if it is not working you must customize
the parameter after
compiz. In my case, they are dong the job.

Now restart your computer, after logging in it takes 3 seconds before starting
compiz, so wait for that. You can
change the amount of seconds in the script above, if your computer is slow and
is showing the Ubuntu Logo, when
compiz starts. In some cases its breaking the script.

I hope, that will help some of you, and even the developers.

[Bug 501343] Re: firefox 3.5.6 does not have an "options" in tools

2009-12-29 Thread kogevni
My mistake, YES In windows its under tools"options"(Because of continual freeze
i add to switch to windows). What prompted my question is that i tried to
download a linux-image.deb from an Apache server for trouble shooting purpose
and after 5 minutes of activity and the message "done" there is no file on the
desktop or anyware else. I tried to add this comment from karmic but after 3
freezes while tipping i have rebooted to winxp.
i monitor bug#456902 and that was an attempt to download new compiled kernel.
This bug title is no longer valid but the uploaded system status maybe can help
with the freeze problem. i usually have only one freeze per hour its the first
time that i realize that tipping into launchpad is impossible.

[Bug 501393] [NEW] Integrate Firefox notifications with notify-osd bling

Firefox currently provides its own notifications, such as "All downloads

I can log in with a local account (one of the two that is suggests), but when

I do not get prompted for a password.
The screen may go black then bring up the defaul login screen again, with
2 local accounts as suggestions for usernames.

I can log into the machine via ssh from another machine using the same
DOMAIN\first.last account proving that the Likewise-Open software is
installed and running correctly.

I have the same problem here one Karmic. I have a PVR 150 card and an
analog bt484 one. When the PVR 150 card device is created by udev under
/dev/video1 the audio does not work. Forcing udev to put it under
/dev/video0 fixed the problem for me.

eclipse (3.5.1+repack~3-0ubuntu1) lucid; urgency=low

  * Rebase to packaging from pkg-java/eclipse:
+ Stopped using special hacks and work arounds to find JVMs.
  (Closes: #353360)
  - This removes the need for ~/.eclipse/eclipserc (Closes: #402077)
  - This makes eclipse read eclipse.ini (Closes: #491334)
+ Moved the executable to eclipse-platform from eclipse.
  (Closes: #358594)
+ Put the osgi jar-files into its own separate package. (LP: #102717)
+ Added workaround for gtk problems. (Closes: #552480)
+ Added missing API references. (Closes: #376850)
+ Moved org.eclipse.ant.ui to eclipse-platform. (LP: #477944)
+ Added information about how to create the orig.tar.gz.
  (Closes: #505553)
+ Rewrote symlink script to handle folders that are renamed on different

+ Move eclipse.ini into /etc (LP: #43162)
  * Drop versioned dependency on libcommons-el-java, libjetty-java,

[Bug 424655] Re: using module-udev-detect leaks memory

2009-12-29 Thread valindil89
gpstar,

I have already done that, Reverand_of_War proposed that alternate option
which would be fine for the select few people that were not having the
CPU issue because it does fix the leak until you restart the computer.
But for the CPU issue being there also it is best to revert to the older
udev like in post #73 instead of just stopping and starting audioPulse.

[Bug 501376] Re: E: /var/cache/apt/archives/mysql-server-5.0_5.1.30really5.0.83-0ubuntu3_i386.deb: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1

2009-12-29 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Thanks for your report.

It seems that you're trying to install MySQL 5.0 while having 5.1 already
installed. Downgrading from 5.1 to 5.0 is not supported.
Could you try to uninstall 5.1 first (backup your database and completely purge
the 5.1 packages) ?
PS: Doing so may result in a data loss.

cheese is in main and not in universe. Therefore I removed ubuntu-

[Bug 501202] Re: Firefox doesn't save current tabs

Operator error. In Preferences-->Privacy, "Clear history when Firefox
closes" was checked. This overrides the "Save my tabs" option.

[Bug 495973] Re: low graphics mode after today's update

2009-12-29 Thread C de-Avillez
OK. I have this issue (ATI X1200). What I did to bypass:

1. copied the default XOrg configuration from /var/log/Xorg.*.log (it is
printed there) into /etc/X11/xorg.conf;
2. Edited /etc/X11/xorg.conf, and disabled the ATI driver section;
3. bounced X.

Now I am running with VESA, and can work nicely. Of course, I do not
have whatever fancy thingies I might had before, but it works.

[Bug 288496] Re: package winbind 2:3.2.3-1ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2009-12-29 Thread Aquina
I have the same problem.

"sudo dpkg-reconfigure samba-common" doesn't work and returns the
message "/usr/sbin/dpkg-reconfigure: samba-common ist kaputt oder nicht
komplett installiert" ("/usr/sbin/dpkg-reconfigure: samba-common damaged
or not installed completely")

Further I executed "sudo winbindd -SF -d 10" and received the following
output:

winbindd version 3.0.28a started.
Copyright Andrew Tridgell and the Samba Team 1992-2008
lp_load: refreshing parameters
Initialising global parameters
params.c:OpenConfFile() - Unable to open configuration file
"/etc/samba/smb.conf":
No such file or directory
pm_process() returned No
lp_servicenumber: couldn't find homes
[..]
error opening config file
aqu...@tron:~$

The only thing I did was uninstalling the samba package on my client
because I don't need it anymore. I later realized the winbind fail
message on system boot.
