I can't reproduce this issue when 'Times New Roman' is not actually installed on the system. In that case it defaults to 'Liberation Serif'. Upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04 - login loop every single time - login screen showed up after a black screen blip. Shows a cl login prompt with the "correct" login ID name that disappeared right away. Up pops a login screen. I login in, it takes the password, it starts to do something, the screen blanks and serves up the login screen instead of the deaskthop. it didn't matter if it was a dual boot with windows XP AND Breezy, because I deleted them, reloaded 9.10 successfully and tried to upgrade again = login loop it didn't matter if I loaded 10.4 with or without partitions because I deleted them. Another install, another login loop. it didn't matter if I repartitioned the drive using Create Partition from the 9.10 ubuntu live cd and loaded 10.04 from a restart or a total shut down. I am trying the shred command to see if maybe there was some kind of boot sector thing going on, the only thing I will know after that is my data is as gone as it can be and I truly regret hitting that little Upgrade Now button. [Bug 587356] [NEW] Alsa not working properly on Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Xa 1526 with Ubuntu 10.04
Public bug reported: Sound is not working properly on my Fujitsu Siemens Xa 1526 laptop with Ubuntu 10.04. I used to be able to set "options snd-hda-intel model=3stack-dig" in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf with Ubuntu 9.04 (and I had quite acceptable sound, both from internal and extermal speakers), but it no longer helps. I tried many other models as well, but to no avail. Sound from built-in speakers now sounds like it's being played through tweeters (no mid-bass), or it is completely muffled, depending on the model I set in alsa-base.conf. Currently I am using "options snd-hda-intel model=fujitsu-xa3530", but that's not any better than a lot of other models. Other models that dont emulate tweeters tend to provide louder sound from one channel (cant remember if it is left or right). I played a lot with alsamixer, and I figured out that I have to set a model with a lot of speakers (5+), and then alsamixer can help my built- in speakers play make-believe-stereo sound. It's actually far from stereo, because, actually, I have to set mid and subwoofer to high gain to get left and right mid-bass sound, which is, btw spilling quite noticeably to the other channel. So, I would have to say it is far from proper. Also, microphone is not working at all. When I click the speaker in the indicator applet, and choose sound preferences, then select input tab, it shows no input hardware at all. When I use the old 3stack-dig setting, I cannot get any midbass sound, but I DO have input hardware, although I didn't test if it actually works. In 9.04 with 3stack-dig, microphone worked acceptably, both internal and external connected to the front mic jack. Since my built-in speakers and microphone didn't work, I didn't even test the connectors. Laptop has 3 sound jacks in the front, nothing else, no digital either. Could someone try to do something about this situation? [Bug 579117] Re: Wireless blocks USB-Audio, leading to dropouts
Three more things to add. First, I have a very similar, slightly older laptop than this one. Same model number etc but about an 8 month earlier build with a slightly slower processor. It's a kind of "spare". It has 10.04 on it, but otherwise nothing much in the way of installed stuff. So I installed latencytop and ran it; very similar (long) latencies on it. Second, I disconnected the USB audio card, activated the internal sound card, played some music, and a few minutes later got an underrun. So it's not related to the USB external sound card thing. [Bug 263779] Re: Evince hijacks global multimedia keys
This misfeature irritates me every time I have to use Evince. I can understand having the thing skip pages when it's ALREADY in fullscreen mode... but consider the current behavior: I'm reading a PDF document while listening to music, and try to skip tracks what happens? Evince goes to the next page, so I have to manually go back, and possibly lose track of where I am reading. Now, I try to pause the music, and Evince hijacks my whole screen so I have to press F11 to un-fullscreen it. And when I try to resume the music, Evince does it again. What I think it should do: NOT take over play-pause, and only act on track-skip hotkeys when already in fullscreen mode. That way, you can still use it for "presentation mode". The ability to change pages with a remote makes sense. The ability to change from windowed to fullscreen (and not back again) does not make sense -- why not just start the presentation with the PDF fullscreen already? -- Evince hijacks global multimedia keys https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/263779 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
