Even by restarting all the services (NC, NC-publication, SC, SC- publication), UEC wouldn't clean the missing volumes. I went back and retested this and it has already been fixed and released (commit fcbc05a1be0a7600153e78207dcb8b62fe753a4a), it was just not properly closed. mapl, If you are running an updated hardy guest running the 2.6.24-29 kernel this bug should not be a problem. Can you please provide information on which kernel you are using. Hi, I'm trying to figure out if there is anything else that I'm supposed to do to get this fix into lucid-updates. When I look at the web page for Pending Ubuntu stable release updates (at http://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/pending-sru.html;) I see, in the lucid section, that qemu-kvm is listed. But the bug #719448 is highlighted in purple which means bugs in purple are verified for a task but need verification for another task. What is the other verification that is needed? Is that something that I'm supposed to do? I can't reliably reproduce this bug. But it always happened in combination with SQLDeveloper from Oracle. I can work with it for hours without this problem coming up. Sometimes it comes up during normal usage of the app, other times when closing it (but not always). I started with Kernel 2.6.38-7, which produced the same bug. I work now for 2 days with classic w/o effects without problems. [Bug 474258] Re: Extremely dangerous! cryptswap killed my partition
I agree with Johnny's analysis here; any crypttab setup done via the Ubuntu installer should use UUIDs, not partition names, since the latter are not guaranteed to be stable. I disagree with the original suggestion to check the partition type, as I don't think that's a reliable check in general. It could prevent this issue for some users, but for others it would just cause silent failures to enable crypted swap at boot. And if crypttab were using UUIDs to begin with, this should be a non-issue. I'm sorry it's taken so long for this bug to come to come to anyone's attention; unfortunately I don't think anyone was tracking cryptsetup bug reports at the time it was filed, and afterwards it seems to have been lost in the mass of untriaged bugs. Now that it's on our radar, we should be able to fix this in much less than two years... :/ Surbhi, do you think you could take a look at this to make sure the installer is using UUIDs anywhere it touches /etc/crypttab, and possibly fix cryptsetup to migrate /etc/crypttab from partition names to UUIDs on upgrade? (There's code about that's been used to do this in various other packages before, for /etc/fstab and the like.) Yes it did. Seems the repository did not have all the Samba4 files and y.x was conflicting. I uninstalled Samba comoletely and it works fine. Now, to figure out what happened with Samba. You should be able to use the M key to unmute/turn on S/PDIF. If that doesn't work then there is a deeper problem in the driver somewhere I suspect. It was an upgrade Maverick = Natty Following your request I made some more tests and report the following : - It doesn't PLOK ! when booting from an USB key of Natty live. - When booting Natty from HD on this machine : - It doesn't PLOK ! when performing drum sound on GDM - However it DOES PLOK ! immediately after user login : a) Regardless of which user logs in b) Regardeless of whether user logs into KDE or Gnome = In all cases it PLOKs ! loudly before emitting the first in-session sound. Same problem. On screenshoots (i have attached ) you can see that dead area is vertical and thin.
