[Bug 841872] Re: Using the task switcher, hard to cycle through different terminals
I like the ALT + ` switching...I didn't know about it either. But I have an issue that seems to fall under this bug. When I have several windows open including multiple terminal windows, if I alt-tab to the terminals the wrong one is active. Terminal A sits behind Terminal B, but Terminal A has the active cursor and accepts keyboard input. I use transparency in the terminals, otherwise I probably wouldn't have known what was going on. The ALT+` switching lets me pick the proper one--when I switch between them with this key combo the active one comes back to the front. Also, when I use ALT+TAB to pick a specific instance of the terminal (Hit ALT+TAB, pause on the icon for the terminals and wait for the multiple ones to show up or press the down arrow to get to selections, then select the one I want) they end up in the correct z-order with the active one on top. To recreate: open a few windows (I have chromium, "home folder", and Geany open) along with two terminal window instances. Go to the browser and ALT+TAB to the terminal icon. The active terminal is not in the front. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/841872 Title: Using the task switcher, hard to cycle through different terminals To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/841872/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 855943] [NEW] Installing then uninstalling FGLRX makes Oneiric's Unity unbootable
Public bug reported: I was attempting to test this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/781384 by installing FGLRX via jockey- gtk. After I found that there were no fixes (still), I went back to jockey and uninstalled FGLRX. However, upon rebooting, I found that Unity would not load. Applications had their title bars, however and were able to be moved. I ran a terminal and ran "unity" and was received various "Compiz couldn't load plugin X : could not locate libgl.so.1" etc. I checked on a live USB of mine and this file doesn't exist in a standard install. The only way I could find to fix it was to reinstall the FGLRX driver to get things to work temporarily. (Which i did not want to do because of aforementioned bug). [Bug 779639] Re: gnome screensaver activation is hindered by unobscure routine
Truth be told, I never understood what Shih-Yuan Lee's patch did or how it addressed this bug. My patch is much simpler, but it only addresses a symptom of the bug (the unobscure routine deactivating the screensaver) rather than the underlying bug (why is the obscure/unobscure routine called at every invocation of the screensaver?). Of course, a patch of a particularly annoying symptom is still better than no patch for the underlying cause... To apply the patch, you must use the Debian package building system to rebuild the gnome-screensaver package. It's very easy to apply if you are familiar with that system, but it's beyond the scope of this bug tracker to provide directions. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/779639 Title: gnome screensaver activation is hindered by unobscure routine To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-screensaver/+bug/779639/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 745836] Re: soffice.bin crashed with SIGSEGV in cppu::throwException()
From: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ecryptfs/+bug/509180 Linux linux 2.6.38-11-generic #47-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 15 19:27:09 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Description: Ubuntu 11.04 Codename: natty After months of kernel and application crashes and corrupt files, I was ready to abandon Ubuntu 11.04 and go to some other distribution. Before doing that, I wrote a script to repeatedly md5sum the files in my ecryptfs directory and compare the results. I went single-user to ensure that nothing else was running and, sure enough, the script showed that md5sums changed randomly on files that I never touched. I went looking today and found this launchpad entry indicating that you have known for 18 months (since 9.10!) that ecryptfs is broken and is not suitable for production use. Why didn't you disable it in recent releases? My 11.04 install offered to encrypt my home directory during installation, yet you've known for 18 months that to do so would corrupt my system and crash it. [Bug 855932] [NEW] Intermittent freezing
Public bug reported: I was told I may have a possible kernel regression and that I should file a bug report. I'm running a clean install of Ubuntu 11.04 on a Thinkpad R400 purchased new in 2009. (Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2) Symptoms: The display freezes at random; it will often start being laggy, and then freeze up all together. when this occurs: I can't switch to console mode I can't move the mouse Any on-screen animations freeze. Audio continues to play, at least for a bit. Toggling the wifi switch on my laptop sometimes un-freezes my computer, usually only for a moment, sometimes all the way. I managed to get into console mode just as my computer started freezing, before it locked up all the way, and when I toggled the wifi switch I got the following output (preceded by some numbers that I suppose represented time): iwlagn :30:00.0: Error sending REPLY_RXON: enqueue hcmd failed: -5 iwlagn :30:00.0: Error clearing ASSOC_MSK on BSS (-5) Those two lines repeated a number of times. This problem doesn't occur if I have Ubuntu 10.04 installed. I had a clean install of 10.04LTS for a while, with no problems, and I never used 10.10, but when 11.04 came out, I wanted to try out Unity, so I did a clean install. I had this freezing issue. I later partitioned the drive and installed 10.04 on the other partition to check if it would work, and it did. Someone suggested I try upgrading (rather than doing a clean install) to 11.04, so I did that and had the freezing problem again, now on both 11.04 partitions (ridiculous, I know). I made a live USB of Fedora 15 with GNOME 3 and had the same issue (but I didn't really play around with it much, so it's possible that was something else). Yes, as I said, it's not a problem to change anything (BTW thank you to check our code and test it carefully!) but don't hesitate to report these changes, questions or bugs to us ;) > Hmm? We have not provided cairo-dock-data package. > We will change it like that if you want to divide it as cairo-dock-data > package. No it's not a big deal. It's just because Cairo-Dock packages have been created first for Ubuntu (it was a choice of a former contributor, sorry for that) and it seems the packages have been totally rewritten and we don't know why. > The up stream was cairo-dock-plugins. We only just use it. > If you need , I will change. It's maybe a good idea to fix this bug. [Bug 855887] Re: smart does not gracefully handle invalid Releases/Packages files
There is a smart package currently in {lucid,maverick,natty}-proposed that catches http error codes. One such case was a 401 error (unauthorized), which was also being downloaded as a Release file. You nominated this bug for oneiric, are you sure it happens there as well? [Bug 855921] Re: does not honor netcfg/choose_interface in preseed
** Description changed: if you pxeboot an image and hand it a preseed file, and in that preseed - file you have netcfg/choose_interface=eth0, it doesn't work and it pops - up a menu and asks you what interface you want as your default - interface. + file you have: + + d-i netcfg/choose_interface select eth0 + + it doesn't work and it pops up a menu and asks you what interface you + want as your default interface. If, however, you pass netcfg/choose_interface=eth0 to the kernel as a boot option - it works as expected and does not display a menu option for this value.
