[Bug 1382190] Re: LXCs assigned IPs by MAAS DHCP lack DNS PTR entries
I agree: this is a clear-cut case for the request-an-address API, but we still lack a request-a-hostname API. Out of curiosity, how did the existing setup(s) obtain these generated hostnames in the first place? To my knowledge they were neither exposed nor documented. MAAS never had much control over which non-node client got which address from DHCP, and that's why we had to re-work DHCP management. These old generated hostnames were no more stable than the IP addresses were: if the container moved to a different IP address, it would also move to a different hostname. So if at all possible, I would address the problem in two discrete steps: 1. Use the container's IP address, not its hostname. It should be about as stable as the hostname was. 2. Request a static IP through the MAAs API, and configure it statically on the container. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to maas in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1382190 Title: LXCs assigned IPs by MAAS DHCP lack DNS PTR entries To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/maas/+bug/1382190/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1382190] Re: LXCs assigned IPs by MAAS DHCP lack DNS PTR entries
Out of curiosity, how did the existing setup(s) obtain these generated hostnames in the first place? To my knowledge they were neither exposed nor documented. As Jeroen said, we need to understand this in order to suggest a solution that fits CTS' needs. My guess is that they where deriving the hostname from the IP address manually, having observed the pattern that MAAS uses. Agreed that the path of least resistance at this stage is to improve the new reserve IPAPI to include a hostname and use that in Juju.

[Bug 1382632] Re: Insecure key file permissions
The secret_key file is created when python manage.py collectstatic is run, it seems. We have two packages that run this command in postinst: openstack- dashboard-ubuntu-theme and openstack-dashboard. In this scenario, -ubuntu-theme is installed first. It runs that command in postinst, the file is created, and apparently with the incorrect permissions: 0644 Then openstack-dashboard runs it again, and this time the secret_key file already exists, and it complains about the incorrect permissions. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to horizon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1382632 Title: Insecure key file permissions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/horizon/+bug/1382632/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1380095] Re: Gnome Fallback[s] don't work in 14.04. Work once ONLY if reinstalled
Not sure if there is easy way to repair your sistem. I would suggest to try clean install. You have log file full of warnings about missing programs. You have put many launchers on panel, bet programs does not exist for them anymore. This is what I see from log messages. You say that clicking on panel makes it crash/disappear. It could crash because panel fails to find program you try to launch. If so this is definetly bug as panel should not crash in such cases (I have no time to verify this). If you run programs from terminal and then close terminal it won't close only terminal, it will close all other programs you launched from terminal. Add ' ' at the end of programs names when you launch applications - 'gnome-panel --replace ' . And if you want close terminal don't do it by clicking close button but type 'exit' command in terminal.
-- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1382190 Title: LXCs assigned IPs by MAAS DHCP lack DNS PTR entries To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/maas/+bug/1382190/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1380095] Re: Gnome Fallback[s] don't work in 14.04. Work once ONLY if reinstalled
Are you using default theme - Ambiance? Then panels should not be black. I wanted that you change back to system theme to check if problem is in custom style. I know one person who had problems with transparent panels. Problem disappeared when he changed settings back to system theme. Transparency does not work fully anyway so I would suggest to use system theme for now. I have plans on fixing panel background, but that probably wont happen this year - so background probably will be broken even in ubuntu 15.04 version. :( Reinstall wont solve anything. You can try to reset gnome-panel configuration (see accepted answer): http://askubuntu.com/questions/125662/how-to-reset-gnome-panel NOTE: It will remove all your customization to panel and will reset to default. Then try if now gnome-panel starts every time you login. If all good try to start customize it step by step: 1) Add custom launcher - do several reboots. 2) Try to customize panel style - do serveral reboots. This way you will find what part is causing problem or you will be lucky and problem will disappear. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1380095 Title: Gnome Fallback[s] don't work in 14.04. [Bug 1301125] Re: Lock screen after idle time freezes unity
Exactly the same issue here. Fresh installation and opensource (no catalyst) ati drivers (Radeon HD 4670). This is frustrating, especially as it is already half a year after the 14.04 release. When 12.04 came out, I changed the graphics card (removed NVidia 8800 and replaced it by Radeon 4670) on my workstation because I couldn't get the system work correctly. Do we have to change graphics cards possibly everytime after a major release?? Pardon me for this small rant, but this is utterly frustrating. That said, I'd like to mention that the broken suspend function hasn't been fixed now in years. We run more than 5 different computers and laptops here in the office. Not one is able to suspend and to resume correctly. I know that doesn't belong into this thread, but I just needed to rant and unload some frustration that I picked up over months and years.
[Bug 1379296] Re: unity8-dash should be excluded from app lifecycle management
if the dash would not be in lifecycle management at all and you would have gotten your system in such a state, the kernel would just have randomly killed bits of your session instead of the dash. it is wanted that in such cases the dash gets killed before i.e. ofono gets killed so that your session still stays functional. imho the behavior is just fine, in case the sysem functions normal it should be the last of your UI apps that gets killed. in case where not even that would free up enough memory you have a whole lot of bigger probs ... the bug here lies within the apps that consume all your ram where they should not. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1379296 Title: unity8-dash should be excluded from app lifecycle management To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qtmir/+bug/1379296/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
