[Bug 1510624] Re: double menu bar

2016-10-18 Thread Rémi Denis-Courmont
grofaty, there is no fix upstream. In fact, I understand the bug is in
Ubuntu libraries, not in VLC.

So then, there is no fix to be upstreamed. That also explains why
updating VLC on 16.04 won't fix the bug.

[Bug 1634161] Re: Default multipath policy is round-robin, shows considerably worse read throughput compared to using service-time

2016-10-18 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
FYI the minimal bits I checked in the background when we talked about it
yesterday.

Done in debian/patches/path_selector.patch

Related Changelog:
  * debian/patches/path_selector.patch: switch the default path selector

back to round-robin while service-time isn't available to the installer

multipath-modules.

Likely starts by fully understanding the old dependencies that got to
the decision to add that.

[Bug 1634125] Re: kajongg – early segfault within Kubuntu 16.10

2016-10-18 Thread Wolfgang Rohdewald
This is not about KMahjongg but kajongg. Big difference. A very
different game and a very different implementation.

kajongg is a pure Python application.
There are no Python bindings for KDE Frameworks 5 except for some
experimentation.

kajongg (always identical source code) can run with qt5, it can run with
python3, and it can run without KDE bindings (not all combinations are
possible). But without KDE bindings it does not behave like a KDE
application in all aspects.

So if KDE bindings are wanted (and they are wanted), kajongg needs a
working pykde.

I have no idea what you mean with duplicates - if that is something
about KMahjongg, I do not even want to know.

[Bug 1634537] Re: mnemosyne appears to connect to PRISM company on OpenSM2

2016-10-18 Thread Peter Bienstman
The nice thing about open source is that you can exactly see what's
going on and what data is sent across (if any).

In this case, I'm using a well-known trick in Python to determine your
local IP address by opening a connection to an ubiquitously available
site, and then using that connection to get your local IP address.

As you can see, absolutely no data is sent across.

[Bug 1634537] [NEW] mnemosyne appears to connect to PRISM company on OpenSM2

2016-10-18 Thread themusicgod1
Public bug reported:

relevant code from configuration_wdgt_sync_server.py:

from openSM2sync.server import realsocket
def localhost_IP():
s = realsocket(socket.AF_INET, socket.SOCK_DGRAM)
s.connect(("google.com", 8000))
return s.getsockname()[0]

I definitely don't remember being informed that using mnemosyne included
consent to connect to Google, which is a part of the NSA's PRISM
program.

Is there any more log I can provide that could shed a light on this?
This bug is very easily reproducible on my computer, so I should be able

My computer is not a fresh install and has been upgraded every step of

persists.

[Bug 1623256] Re: adjust the way to create dbgsym packages like Debian does

2016-10-18 Thread Martin Pitt
I'm currently looking into using debhelper's dbgsym generation instead
of pkg-create-dbgsym. This requires some modifications, in particular:

  * Naming the dbgsym packages .ddeb instead of .deb (as LP cannot deal with
.deb right now)
  * Reading /CurrentlyBuilding to determine whether or not build dbgsyms.

It would be nice if Launchpad builders could move away from
/CurrentlyBuilding and instead set ENABLE_DBGSYM=0 if debug symbols
should *not* be built; for the default, it can either not set it at all
or set ENABLE_DBGSYM=auto. This would then get rid of the
/CurrentlyBuilding parsing logic in dh_strip.

[Bug 1628956] Re: From v49.0, Firefox needs read access to @{PROC}/net/arp

2016-10-18 Thread Franck
Motivation for this new requirement is:

## Why

 Each particular network your computer and browser run in has its own set of
 network conditions, routers, proxies and MITM situations.

 Changing between networks also changes proxies. Intercepting or explicit,
 willing or unwilling, HTTP or even HTTPS with custom installed trust-roots.
 This makes the web content cache, the cookie store and others to save
 contents from one network that is potentially different than what is received
 over other networks. It can lead to content pollution and information leaks,
 on purpose by malicious actors or just by mistake.

[Bug 1580792] Re: Unity8 on Intel Atoms performs poorly (falls back to software rendering more than non-Atoms do)

2016-10-18 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The original bug description is a bit vague here. In comment #3 I was
aiming to make this bug very definite. If you add INTEL_DEBUG=perf then
you will see the errors I mentioned. I think this bug should be about
those errors in comment #3 since the bug description is a bit too vague.

Please add INTEL_DEBUG=perf to your /etc/environment to help us
determine if you are experiencing this bug or something different.

I can't reproduce any such problem on a pure 16.10 install. The error:

  what(): option cannot be specified more than once

implies that your lightdm is passing an extra option when it executes
the unity-system-compositor command.

[Bug 1629038] Re: package samba 2:4.3.11+dfsg-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2016-10-18 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
We synced up on IRC and went through the same stages:
overall we did:

1. cleaning all samba bits via apt purge (and rm if stale files were around)
   after that my test container as well as his system were in this state:
   Since on the Desktop there is a dependency chain mplayer -> libsmbclient ->
samba-libs I was
   adapting my container to the reported case. The new overview is:
   http://paste.ubuntu.com/23343815/
2. clean out files of samba-libs:i386 as defined by
http://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial/i386/samba-libs/filelist
While we haven't found a reason it should be on the system, it is - so
removing those makes apt match again.
3. installing samba via "apt install samba"
   On the apt report before Y/N watch the "The following additional packages
will be installed:"
   That should have no i386 packages listed - please report if it does.
   That hopefully gives a clean and working system again like:
   http://paste.ubuntu.com/23343842/

[Bug 1632252] Re: linux autopkgtest kills sshd in testbed

It's better now -- in my local QEMU test the last output is now

But also, no messages beyond that (last message one hour ago).

On the currently running amd64 yakkety test on the ifrastructure, the

and then it's apparently hung at exactly the same problem. But unlike
with local QEMU I cannot ssh in any more (Connection refused), and
console-log shows trouble:

Re: [Bug 1546674] Re: virt-aa-helper Apparmor profile missing rules for name resolution

2016-10-18 Thread Matt LaPlante
At least in my instance, and based on at least one other reporter's
description, the issue manifests on upgrade of the host to Xenial with
existing guests. If you create new guests in Xenial or newer they may very
well be configured correctly (I really don't know). My interpretation was
that virt-aa-helper added some functionality in Xenial+ which requires this
access, but configs from older versions have not granted it. Or at least
maybe that would make repro easier?

2016-10-18 Thread gerald.yang
Hello Michael,

The new snapd in proposed updates the dependency of ubuntu-core-launcher, but
not snap-confine,
I just upgraded snapd, but the snap-confine is still the old version
(1.0.38-0ubuntu0.16.04.4),
only ubuntu-core-launcher is upgraded to the latest one
(1.0.43-0ubuntu1~16.04.1),

2016-10-18 15:22:56 MSK [5580-2] LOG: database system is shut down

# Why it is happens

pg_ctlcluster check cluster is running through psql

pg_ctlcluster contain func with name cluster_port_ready check:

  while ($n < ($result ? 10 : 3)) {
select undef, undef, undef, 0.5;
$out = `$psql -h '$sd' --port $p -l 2>&1 > /dev/null`;

print STDERR "PSQL res: $out $?\n";

if ($? == $result) {
$n++;
} else {
$n = 0;
}
$result = $?;
}

That func check error code after executing psql. Max 10 times with
interval 0.5s, so 5s is maximum time to postmaster restoring after
crashing. After that pg_ctlcluster return exit code 1 and systemd send
SIGTERM to postgres.

But postmaster cannot accept any connection during restore procedure

postmaser.c:2164
case CAC_STARTUP:
ereport(FATAL,
(errcode(ERRCODE_CANNOT_CONNECT_NOW),
 errmsg("the database system is
starting up")));
break;

# How to fix

Increase timeout ?

Check message during connect: FATAL: the database system is starting up
?

Determine state of recovery and wait when done ?

[Bug 1627534] Re: Keeps resetting homepage to start.ubuntu-mate.org

2016-10-18 Thread Egmont Koblinger
Doing a recursive grep under /usr, the only file containing this
particular URL is /usr/lib/firefox/ubuntumate.cfg, shipped by the
ubuntu-mate-default-settings package.

Attempting to purge this package says it'll install debian-mate-default-
settings instead, and remove mate-core, mate-desktop-environment-core
and a few others as well. So apparently this package is needed in order
to have Mate available as an alternate desktop environment.

to install this package on a Yakkety installation without the package
ubuntu-release-upgrader-qt installed. Then install this updated plasma-
discover package and make sure that ubuntu-release-upgrader-qt is

[Bug 1634494] Re: build.sh script fails to build needed dependencies

2016-10-18 Thread Albert Astals Cid
We do run that, things that may have happened:

1) Was not a clean build, i think we don't run it again for successive builds
2) You Cltrl+C'ed it when it asked for the root password, then since we don't
run it for successive builds it was never run again.

Can you try to actually reproduce this?

[Bug 1606940] Re: A a single PCI read or write appears twice on the PCIe bus. This happens when using the SR-IOV feature with some PCI devices

2016-10-18 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
The remaining issues in the logs are:
- qemu forward migration P->T and machine type uniqueness, both fixed by the
upload blocked by this bug atm
- libvirt test on trusty (independent to the fix in proposed in pre & post
tests)

All others worked fine - so I think we can call that verified.

[Bug 1580740] Re: [SRU] Cannot open a browser link from a snap that provides a link

2016-10-18 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The .service is generated at build time by the Makefile

"com.canonical.SafeLauncher.service: Makefile
$(AM_V_GEN) (echo '[D-BUS Service]'; \
 echo 'Name=com.canonical.SafeLauncher'; \"

the static version included in the xenial upload shouldn't be there but
it doesn't create issue since it's replaced a buildtime (you can look at
the i386 the libexecdir is correct and not the x86 one from the static
version)

[Bug 1606940] Re: A a single PCI read or write appears twice on the PCIe bus. This happens when using the SR-IOV feature with some PCI devices

2016-10-18 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Thanks Martin.
Given that I tested this on Trusty with various tests I had from former bugs.
That should ensure a good base level of extra QA - especially including the
recently added upgrade tests.

s390x/ppc64el wasn't available/supported back then (only since
xenial/vivid) and I unfortunately have no suitable arm system available
atm.

But since the patch came by embedded power x86 can be considered the
cross-arch test to some extend.

Attaching logs of all the tests that ran ...

Re: [Bug 1606940] Re: A a single PCI read or write appears twice on the PCIe bus. This happens when using the SR-IOV feature with some PCI devices

2016-10-18 Thread Serge Hallyn
Hi Christian,

just for future references, it's of course ideal if we can verify that
the reported bug is fixed, but after 14-21 days it becomes ok to
simply run the qa-regression-tests and verify that there are no new
failures. Whether or not to drop the set if we can't verify the
original bug is fixed is something you can decide. If it was an
upstream fix that didn't take too much finagling to get backported, it
normally makes sense to take it if there are no regressions.
