[Bug 1420022] Re: mplayer using va_gl whites out while fast-forwarding/rewinding
I can confirm Hadmut's observation that it only happens when the on- screen-display shows something. Deactivating it resolves the issue. The issue persists in xenial (current dev); in addition playback stops after 3 frames (I can, however, fast-forward and rewind). However, there was some dependency failure during the update; I will try to fix that and see if this fixes the problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1420022 Title: mplayer using va_gl whites out while fast-forwarding/rewinding To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvdpau-va-gl/+bug/1420022/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1420022] Re: mplayer using va_gl whites out while fast-forwarding/rewinding
Note that I had the same setup with 14.04, which worked perfectly with MPlayer, but sometimes showed a purple border with VLC. As it stands, vlc won't work at all with vdpau output on my current system, so I cannot tell if this is an mplayer thing. Christopher M. Penalver, the output is: 8DCN40WW 10/24/2014 Interestingly, the version coincides with the version information on the Lenovo site (where I downloaded the update), but the date is one day and one month earlier than the date on the Lenovo site. [Bug 1415880] Re: 14e4:4365 bcmwl-kernel source: fix for null pointer crash
Hi again, this took some time. I had to dig up a Windows 7 Rescue CD from somewhere, change my BIOS settings to activate legacy support (otherwise it would not boot), then start the BIOS update utility. Those were some tense 30 seconds. Afterwards, it rebooted into Windows, which I exited, rebooting again only to find out that either the Windows or the BIOS update had somehow mangled my grub partitions. With a vivid USB stick, I was able to make it boot again. Long story short, the error reappeared promptly. So, now I'm on 8DCN40WW (and we can probably remove the BIOS-outdated tag). I'm going to do some more testing, perhaps upgrading to vivid. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1415880 Title: 14e4:4365 bcmwl-kernel source: fix for null pointer crash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bcmwl/+bug/1415880/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Christopher Penalver, I'm not sure, I'm still on Utopic, but I'm currently downloading the alpha2 ISO; I'm going to inform you once I have tested. Also I have to report that the 'fix' is apparently not fully effective; yesterday the problem reappeared. Regarding the outdated BIOS; I could perhaps borrow a Windows 7 to update the BIOS (alas, Lenovo does not ship the IdeaPad BIOS update in a format that can be managed with Linux tools). Public bug reported: The bcmwl package as of now misses one patch for a bug that occurs with BCM43142 and possibly other broadcom chipsets that will look like random disconnects, poor wifi signal and kernel warnings, See also #1379524. Adding the patch is a fairly simple process: * put the patch file in /usr/src/bcmwl-6.30.223.248+bdcom/patches * add the following line to /usr/src/bcmwl-6.30.223.248+bdcom/dkms.conf PATCH[7]="0014-null-pointer-crash.patch" * run: /usr/lib/dkms/common.postinst bcmwl 6.30.223.248+bdcom /usr/share/bcmwl x86_64 $(uname -r) This has fixed the issue for me. [Bug 1379524] Re: 14e4:4365 Weak wifi signal
There is a patch for the driver on http://pastebin.com/pATazP6K – found it through https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/broadcom-wl/ I've applied the patch on my Lenovo Z510 (which also has a BCM43142 chip) using dkms (copied the patch into /usr/src/bcmwl-…/patches, edited the dkms.conf, adding the patch name, called dkms common-postinstall) and since then the wifi has been rock solid. @Christopher M. Penalver: Can I somehow help to include the patch in the bcmwl-kernel-source package? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1379524 Title: 14e4:4365 Weak wifi signal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bcmwl/+bug/1379524/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1405915] Re: Broadcom sta driver not working correctly on BCM43142 - low signal recieved
Also affects Lubuntu Utopic Unicorn (and incidentially all other distros with a >=3.16 kernel I've tried). There is a patch on the arch linux wiki that seems to solve the problem (At least all long downloads I started last night have finished successfully). Here is the link to the arch linux bug tracker: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/broadcom-wl/ And here is the link to the patch: http://pastebin.com/pATazP6K The solution involves the following steps: * copying the patch to /usr/src/bcmwl-$(version)/patches/0020-null-pointer-crash.patch * adding the patch into the /usr/src/bcmwl-$(version)/dkms.conf file (there are other patches referenced, just add it after the last one * running "dkms build bcmwl-$(version) $(uname -r)" (this should re-install the module) * rebooting the system -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1405915 Title: Broadcom sta driver not working correctly on BCM43142 - low signal recieved To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bcmwl/+bug/1405915/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1244138] [NEW] Run gnome-keyring-daemon using upstart
Public bug reported: After upgrading to LUbuntu 13.10, gnome-keyring-daemon (from the package gnome-keyring-3.8.2-0ubuntu3) was no longer started . Asking around in IRC suggested that the correct solution to the problem would be to upstartify gnome-keyring-daemon. So here I provide the attached upstart script. If added to the package at /usr/share/upstart/sessions/gnome-keyring, gnome-keyring-daemon should correctly be started without the need to modify the lxsession. ** Affects: gnome-keyring (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "upstart script for gnome-keyring-daemon" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1244138/+attachment/3889568/+files/gnome-keyring-daemon.conf -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1244138 Title: Run gnome-keyring-daemon using upstart To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-keyring/+bug/1244138/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
