In my case the bug was triggered by trying to install the driver for an Epson scanner Perfection V500 Photo. It is a great scanner, too bad the Ubuntu developers think it is enough to support HP printers and scanners. Epson provides proprietary Linux drivers, unfortunately not distribution specific, and not updated very often. I have had to reinstall them after every version upgrade, every time with different errors to bypass. When I first installed the scanner driver on Ubuntu 16.10 I managed to go past by deleting manually '/usr/share/doc/libperl5.22/changelog.Debian.gz' Who knows what I broke by doing that, but I do need the scanner -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1659487 Title: package libperl5.22 5.22.2-3 failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite shared '/usr/share/doc/libperl5.22/changelog.Debian.gz', which is different from other instances of package libperl5.22:i386 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/perl/+bug/1659487/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1282349] Re: apport-gtk crashed with EOFError in _read_exact(): Compressed file ended before the end-of-stream marker was reached
Marcos: Yes, after a kernel update, but not only 14.04, I had the same problem on and off in 13.10, approx. from Jan till beginning of March, before I went 14.04. I do not know if it made a difference: whenever these errors popped up I was not able to update using the Software Updater, but if I ran sudo apt-get update and upgrade enough times, all would be peachy again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1282349 Title: apport-gtk crashed with EOFError in _read_exact(): Compressed file ended before the end-of-stream marker was reached To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/1282349/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 421422] [NEW] xulrunner dependency is overkill - only spidermonkey is needed
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: couchdb The current couchdb package works great for me on my workstation. I wanted to install it to a server(ec2) and found the xulrunner dependency is pulling in lots of desktop-related packages. It seems couchdb only needs spidermonkey (which -on ubuntu- isn't available outside of xulrunner). This means that currently, gtk2, alsa, fontconfig, avahi, cairo, cups, defoma, png/jpg/tiff and a bunch of X11 libs are being pulled in just to install couchdb. It would be very helpful if spidermonkey can be split out of xulrunner, to keep servers a bit more clean Thanks ** Affects: couchdb (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- xulrunner dependency is overkill - only spidermonkey is needed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/421422 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 421422] Re: xulrunner dependency is overkill - only spidermonkey is needed
I created a fake xulrunner deb to work around the issue. Hi, thanks for checking. Personally, I can live with using some karmic packages on my desktop system. So calling it critical might be a bit too much. I reverted to full disk encryption in the mean time. On Fri, Jul 24, 2009 at 10:39 PM, Dustin Kirklanddustin.kirkl...@gmail.com wrote: I can confirm this on Jaunty 2.6.28-13 However this is fixed upstream. I cannot reproduce it on karmic's 2.6.31-3 kernel. If you really think this is a critical issue for jaunty, we can perhaps try to update jaunty's kernel. [Bug 380073] Re: Error reading symlinks in an ecryptfs filesystem
I can confirm this problem on plain old ext3. whenever git has to work on ecryptfs, symlinks fail. I cannot add new symlinks, and all old ones(when I clone an existing repo) permanently stay in a 'modified' state.
