[Bug 1447282] Re: Does not use encrypted swap when using GPT partitioning + encrypted home directory (ecryptfs)
I think there may be a regression on this issue: I just got this same exact behavior (asking for a cryptswap passphrase during boot) on a brand new Ubuntu 15.10 system76 laptop with updates applied. [Bug 968571] [NEW] My second monitor isn't enabled by default, and Displays doesn't see it as a second monitor
Public bug reported: I have two monitors plugged into my nvidia video card. The second one doesn't work by default. I figured out I could run "nvidia settings", and enable the second monitor with TwinView, but I can't save those settings persistently. So every time I log in, I run it and enable the second monitor. Sorry, I spoke too soon. It started going choppy for a few seconds at a time, and now it's choppy all the time, just like it used to be. I just upgraded my karmic system to all the latest packages (including PulseAudio and the stock Wine package) and my sound on WoW now works fine using the ALSA wine output plugin. [Bug 371897] Re: Occasional sound drops in Wine via PulseAudio
@Robert Shaw: I've experienced the exact same problem with audio dropping out entirely while in WoW using Niel's Wine-pulse. For the record, apparently you don't need to restart it entirely; you can just get WoW to reinitialize its audio stack by going into sound preferences and toggling "use hardware" (which doesn't seem to do anything in wine, as far as I can tell, but does get it to give audio a kick-start). -- Occasional sound drops in Wine via PulseAudio https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/371897 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 371897] Re: Occasional sound drops in Wine via PulseAudio
When I use the default "wine1.2" (1.1.31) in karmic, with its default of ALSA audio output, the sound in World of Warcraft is extremely jittery. When I play a test sound with the ALSA audio output plugin configured (in winecfg), it jitters out part of the sound and then freezes. When I use Neil Wilson's PPA of wine w/ pulseaudio, and then configure wine to use the pulseaudio plugin, sound works perfectly (so far). I'm not very happy about using a version of wine that's not condoned by the wine upstreams, but they (or the Ubuntu developers) need to fix *something* for wine audio to work in karmic. -- Occasional sound drops in Wine via PulseAudio https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/371897 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 410407] Re: flash does not recognise mouse clicks
I just want to point out that this is a really strange bug: - It has been reported when using both chromium and firefox, sometimes one works and the other doesn't, sometimes neither of them work - It has been reported on 32 bit and 64 bit machines - It has been reported on setups which use and don't use nspluginwrapper - It has been reported on metacity and compiz (and similarly to the browser, people have reported that switching fixed it, but some people have the problem under both window managers) - It has been reported on intel and nvidia video cards So it's really unclear where the problem lies. [Bug 358744] [NEW] Update to landscape-client 1.0.29, which is a bugfix-only release
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: landscape-client landscape-client 1.0.28 has some critical bugs. The fixes should be put into jaunty. We have prepared a bugfix-only release, 1.0.29, which has these fixes. The bugs are all filed against the landscape-client package already. [Bug 343954] Re: Update landscape-client to 1.0.28
Actually, there were some problems with that upload. For some reason, the debdiff which I crafted and attached wasn't used, and instead lp :landscape-client trunk was used. - The changelog entry didn't have all of the details which I included - The version number that I specified wasn't used, which was carefully crafted to allow Intrepid->Jaunty upgrades to work properly, getting the Jaunty package installed even if the upstream release hasn't changed - The version number in the landscape code itself is wrong, because lp:landscape-client trunk was used instead of the debdiff based on my release 1.0.28 release branch. This is problematic because this version is actually sent over the wire in our messaging protocol. I think we'll need another upload to fix these issues. ** Changed in: landscape-client (Ubuntu Jaunty) Status: Fix Released => Confirmed -- Update landscape-client to 1.0.28 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/343954 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 343954] Re: Update landscape-client to 1.0.28
Okay, here are the Feature Freeze Exception details for the jaunty package. - A description of the proposed changes, with sufficient detail to estimate their potential impact on the distribution The description of the changes are in the ticket description. The potential impact isn't too high because most of the changes are either bug fixes or unrelated new features, and they're all thoroughly unit tested. 34 files changed, 1608 insertions(+), 412 deletions(-) only 497 of these changes are to non-test files: the other 1200 or so are all test changes. - A rationale for the exception, explaining the benefit of the change It would be very helpful for this release to go into Jaunty so that Jaunty users of Landscape will be able to get the new features like EC2 support and non-root mode. An explanation of the testing which has been performed on the new version in Ubuntu, including verification that the new package: - builds - installs and upgrades, - does not break packages which depend on it, or that corresponding updates have been prepared. I've done testing on a Jaunty KVM that it builds and upgrades from the previous package, and once installed that it works. [Bug 306360] Re: Update landscape-client package to 1.0.24
There were some other changes, which I'm putting into the changelog: * New upstream release supporting custom graphs (LP: #306360) - PATH is now set for scripts in script execution (LP: #257018) * debian/landscape-client.postinst: Work around chfn/system user problem by not specifying a --gecos (LP: #238755) * debian/landscape-client.logrotate: logrotate no longer reports spurious errors when the client isn't running (LP: #271767) I'm not sure what type of detail you want to know for the various code changes, so I'll try to be thorough. I'm looking through the entire diff from the current intrepid version to this new version to write this list of changes: In addition to the changes above, the feature of custom graphs required some changes: - The client now sends a list of the types of messages that it can accept to the server. This is to allow the server to determine whether any given client will support a particular feature. For example, it's used now to determine if the client supports custom graphs before sending a message to the client. - In order to thoroughly support the previous point, we had to change the code that handles messages (in the manager and monitor) to tell the broker which messages that it handles. This involves a new dbus call to the broker. The broker itself now maintains a registry of handlers for messages instead of doing ad-hoc message introspection when handling a message so that we can know which types it handles. - This accepted types stuff has a minor optimization so that the client doesn't have to send the full list of accepted types on every exchange with the server; the server keeps the list of accepted types and sends a hash of all of them to the client on every exchange; the client only sends the full list again if the hash doesn't match its current list. - Since the custom graph code uses a lot of same functionality as the script execution code, the script execution code was refactored to allow reuse of the same code. Methods were refactored into smaller bits for easier reuse and some class hierarchies were restructured. - The custom graph feature is actually being made available as a part of the script execution plugin: so if the user already has include_manager_plugins = ScriptExecution in his configuration file, custom graphs will Just Work. This also drove some of the refactoring in the script execution code (scriptexecution.py). - A new "manager.database" sqlite database was added to /var/lib/landscape/client/ to store custom graph-related data. It's called "manager.database" because it's not actually restricted to custom graphs, but will be used for any other data storage needs of the manager. custom graphs is just the first user. - Of course, new unit tests were added and existing unit tests were updated for all these changes. As for non-custom-graph related changes: - An accidentally duplicated method in the load average plugin was removed If you'd like something more thorough than this, or just some clarification of specific issues, please ask. [Bug 306360] Re: Update landscape-client package to 1.0.24
We've got tarballs released to https://launchpad.net/landscape- client/+download We're going to be running the client in staging for a while to test it. The attached branch builds and installs correctly on Intrepid. Is there anything else we need to do in the SRU process? We don't want to get the client into intrepid immediately, because we want to test it for a while, but we would like to make sure we get through the process early so by the time we're done testing we can push it up. -- Update landscape-client package to 1.0.24 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/306360 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 306360] [NEW] Update landscape-client package to 1.0.24
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: landscape-client Following the format at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#Procedure STATEMENT EXPLAINING THE IMPACT: The new Landscape feature Custom Graphs doesn't work on the client yet. Existing customers using landscape- client in Intrepid will be notified and able to create custom graphs with the Landscape service, but these graphs won't actually work on their clients. Canonical wants to support new features in the most recent stable release of Ubuntu. The client needs to be updated in order for the feature to work. HOW THE BUG HAS BEEN ADDRESSED: Upstream has developed support in the client and is releasing a new upstream version that includes it. PATCH: To be attached as a bzr branch. INSTRUCTIONS TO REPRODUCE: Try to enable a custom graph on a computer using the old version of Landscape Client.
