[Bug 1575053] Re: Please move the "$HOME/snap" directory to a less obtrusive location
I went the sudo apt remove way. I'm like many Ubuntu users, creature of habits and obsessions. The $HOME is really a home for me, I like it tidy in clean. I can't stand somebody putting a shelf in the middle of my room and "deal with it" ... I love Ubuntu so please remove this shelf off my room and put it in the closet. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1575053 Title: Please move the "$HOME/snap" directory to a less obtrusive location To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapd/+bug/1575053/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 871985] Re: The printing panel shouldn't display errors about firewalld not running
@Leon : thank you it works. I logged in Unity 2D session and added the printer, then its available in the fallback session and I'm able to print. @Seb : I agree with you if I use defaults it works. But my hope was that 11.10 will be user friendly with or without the use of Unity. I'm also experiencing this issue. [Bug 107807] Re: [3c900B] NETDEV WATCHDOG: transmit timed out/ Resetting the Tx ring pointer
I have created a new bug report : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/289581 , which looks very similar to this one. [Bug 263555] Re: [intrepid] 2.6.27 e1000e driver places Intel ICH8 and ICH9 gigE chipsets at risk
All this is just crazy! I'm testing Intrepid since Alpha 3, I have done testing on all Ubuntu releases at very early stage (Alpha 2) starting from 6.10. I'm not developer myself and the only way I can help improve Ubuntu is to test and submit bugs. I assume that I can loose some data and on regular basis I won't be very productive on the testing machine, I'm ok with that. BUT damage my hardware is something different, my machine costs ~ 2500 $ (ThinkPad T61p). I just upgraded the kernel this morning via synaptic, sometimes I don't even bother to check what's upgrading, because I ASSUME that Alphas can damage my data (which is backed up daily). When I submited a bug (duplicate of this one) this morning I saw the danger. I'm currently on Intrepid with the old kernel (2.6.27-3), and luckily my ethernet adapter is running well. I'm sorry to say that but I think this will be the last time I'll run Ubuntu Alpha on my machine. I'm willing to help, but I have to be 100% sure that Ubuntu developers have very CLEAR policy on what will be pushed in the repositories for testing. [Bug 204479] Re: PHP should be shipped with magic_quotes_gpc = Off in php.ini
Ubuntu ships with version PHP6, and it's likely that before 8.10 there will be no PHP6, so this is an issue. I reiterate my point. Novice developers will learn PHP with bad configuration, they won't (or badly) escape variables = create security holes in their applications. Other developers will simply edit php.ini after fresh install. To fix this bug by yourself it's very easy, but it's Important that Ubuntu offer good packages by default.
