[Bug 1680156] Re: smartpqi driver needed in initram disk and installer
Hi Brad/Leann, Some positive feedback that at least one system now works out-of-the-box with the 17.04 installer. I want to verify that this driver will land in the 16.04.3 installer (initrd). Is it true that any modules in an interim release installer (initrd) always will automatically also be in the LTS point release installer (vs. just in the kernel/kernel modules package). Just a couple of other data points. It looks like dhclient added the broadcast request flag functionality in v5 (development release). 14.04 ships with 4.2 16.04 ships with 4.3 (the latest stable release) Do we know if the user is using dhclient, or networkmanager or if either client is acceptable? When reading the RFC it appears the broadcast bit specifies to the server how the client wants the server to respond. I have a few requests: 1. Can you create pcaps in Ubuntu / RHEL with various settings (like always broadcast on and off) so we can compare the behaviour and packet changes 2. [Bug 1156667] Re: Need driver support for IPMI device on OCPv2 Windmill
The dcmi kernel module has not been upstreamed (which the dcmitool uses, which is necessary for inband management and setting username/passwords and BMC information). I tried the precise daily build (08-Aug-2013) which had the kernel 3.8.0-27-generic #40 for the installer... then after I rebooted 3.8.0-28-generic #41 was installed. uname -a suggests the installer kernel was built/compiled on Fri Jul 19th? Anyway, the BMC did not work (ipmitool lan print). I used the script above to manually load it... and then, quite annoyingly, when I rebooted to capture logs and output, it just worked. kernel from #23 works w/ tg3! I also tested ipmi just to make sure it works. Will this fix make it into the 12.04.3 LTS point release? The only things to note, but don't hold up this bug from closing, is 1) The NIC shows up as eth11, but I suspect this could be due to this not being a stock image (using an addon card in the past), etc... but it still works 2) The first time I tested ipmi and reboot the BIOS stopped and said "The BMC is not responding, press to continue"... but doing the exercise again didn't cause that to happen. [Bug 985741] Re: multipath can't show device on which is setup lvm
Hi Vencent, The initial ramdisk includes modules, configuration files, and scripts needed to boot the system. Since everything works post-boot, I suspect that some initialization is the problem. After looking through your information I am almost certain this is because during the init process LVM is grabbing the block devices BEFORE multipath gets the chance. Do you see that after the boot your volume groups are using scsi major numbers (8) instead of multipath (252)? It doesn't explain everything.. I would expect this to be a problem even for the second partition, not only when you create an LVM on partition 1. Nor does it explain why the volume group doesn't come up, yet it found it's PVs (directly instead of using the correct multipath). Take a look at this bug report, it is a familiar problem. You might have to recreate an initrd with the correct multipath and lvm config files, and also make sure the kernel modules you need are loaded. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/246324 Sorry I do not have 11.10 installed or I would try to dig a bit deeper. Canonical does have a Technical Partner Program for vendors that want to have a formal relationship (technical partner manager) to make their devices work well out-of-the-box with Ubuntu. [Bug 985741] Re: multipath can't show device on which is setup lvm
Hi Vencent, Here are some things you can try that might help narrow the problem: * Re-create the init ramdisk, make sure your storage module is in the initrd (what modules are in the initrd, vs what modules are loaded after boot and everything is working) * Can you test this on 12.04 LTS (released April 26th) to see if it has the same behaviour? * Show the output of multipathd -k"show config" * Give the output of the following commands before creating the lv, after, and after reboot * dmsetup ls --tree * dmsetup table I suspect this can be fixed in the initrd. I too used the Ubuntu 10.04+ 64bit debian download from skype's website, dpkg says 2.2.0.35-1. I installed a second machine this weekend (Saturday the 10th) and update/upgraded which inhibited the same problem. Although on that machine Unity came up as Unity 2D on initial boot / login, and i didn't have the same gconf information in order to do the work around / hack. Bother machines were installed using 64bit ISOs. I have a third machine to test w/ but was going to wait if/when Skype shows up in the USC to install from there. When touching with the finger, the pointer follows the finger, but upon release the pointer goes to the top left. [Bug 773524] Re: [Toshiba Tecra R850] SD card reader doesn't work
It appears that this SD card reader may be the same that is found on the Lenovo X220, which works (717435). I would leave room for someone with more expertise to verify the system here and on 717435 are actually the same SD card readers. Is there a way to verity that any firmware involved is the same or running different versions? But we have two R850s, one Intel based, another AMD based, that both have this problem. So it is unlikely a dirty card reader. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/773524 Title: [Toshiba Tecra R850] SD card reader doesn't work -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 717435] Re: [MAVERICK] Ricoh e823 Media card reader not functional
The Toshiba laptops (R850) appeared to have similar problems, but it appears the Lenovo laptop mentioned here works with SD (but not MMC), and the Toshiba laptops don't work with either. A new bug has been opened for the Toshiba laptops (Intel and AMD R850) here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/773524 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/717435 Title: [MAVERICK] Ricoh e823 Media card reader not functional -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 717435] Re: [MAVERICK] Ricoh e823 Media card reader not functional
It appears that this patch appears to enable the card reader, it fails to mount/use/unmount MMC cards successfully. We are seeing failures on two Toshiba R850 (Intel and AMD) laptops with the 11.04 release of Natty. The output from lspci is: * System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd Device e823 (rev 04) It appears to be a known issue according to: * http://groups.google.com/group/linux.kernel/browse_thread/thread/81d5997647563887?pli=1 And it doesn't appear others have reported successfully using MMC. -- cut and paste from the URL above -- Okay. There's nothing in the log about Ricoh, which probably means that it bailed out early in the function. You could add a printk to the top of ricoh_mmc_fixup_rl5c476() if you want to be really sure that the code there is getting a chance to run. I think the likely conclusion is that: (a) The Ricoh controller has a proprietary MMC function that is stealing MMC cards away from the SDHCI controller even though the SDHCI could read them if it had a chance to. (b) We don't know how to turn the MMC controller off, because our old method for doing so isn't working on this new 0xe823 model. I'm adding a few people who've touched this code to CC: in case they have any ideas on working out how to disable the MMC function. If you have contact with Ricoh directly or through a vendor, please ask them for the PCI configuration writes needed to disable the MMC function on this model so that you can read MMC cards with the SD interface instead. -- end copy and paste -- -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/717435 Title: [MAVERICK] Ricoh e823 Media card reader not functional -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
