[Bug 2072153] Re: LUKS/Cryptsetup shows blank screen on boot in noble
I'm using the internal screen, and I have no other screens attached. The internal screen is a 3840x2160 resolution one. No change if I set plymouth.use-simpledrm. It could be noted, though, that when I reboot from a working state, I see the splash screen on shutdown after X is shut down before the machine boots. That is, there is something that works once X has run proper. Moreover, if I remove "quiet" from the boot line (and enter my password blindly), after a while the screen blinks black" and I see the boot messages in high resolution (i.e. small font) for half a second on the screen right before I get dumped into the X login screen. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2072153 Title: LUKS/Cryptsetup shows blank screen on boot in noble To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plymouth/+bug/2072153/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1857410] Re: Install Anti-Malware by default for system scanning
If a user chooses to use a deb file to install software, Linux could prompt the user for the hash value. This would ensure the file didn’t get corrupted while downloading. The attacker that embedded malware in Linux Mint, created a hash value for the iso file. Verifying the hash would not have protected users. There could be a database of hash values for non repository software. If a user downloads a deb file, linux could use the hash value from the database to verify the download is safe. If the downloaded software is not found in the database, a user could press a button to request the software and hash value be added. Linux security team developers could check the software and add the legitimate hash value to the database. This could help protect inexperienced Linux users. A user could install non malicious software from the repository or a deb file, but malware could be delivered through software updates. Some software developers might not be trustworthy or they might get hacked. Malicious code might be obvious in open source software, but security flaws are like a back door and are more difficult to discover. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1857410 Title: Install Anti-Malware by default for system scanning To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1857410/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2065234] [NEW] can't unlock and xfce4-screensaver-dialog segfaults if weston running
Public bug reported: laptop running xubuntu 22.04.4, logged into xubuntu session. xfce4-screensaver 4.16.0-1 weston 9.0.0-4ubuntu1 firefox 125.0.3-1 (snap) Run firefox. In terminal: tail -f /var/log/syslog In another terminal: weston Lock the screen by hotkey calling: xflock4 Press key to bring up dialog but only black shows - can see backlight periodically turning on/off and flashes of cursor when pressing keys. Ctrl-Alt-F1; login; pkill weston; Alt-F7 back to locked session. Now unlocking works normally again. [Bug 2056543] Re: Ubuntu 24.04 breaking gnome, showing "Oops.." requesting logout, and several instabilities when using GDM3 instead of Waylan after upgrading from 22.04 to 24.04
Yes. I reproduced it exactly here to validate, when trying to close an APP by clicking on the dock, when closing, the session was immediately logged out. A few days ago, I tried to disable Waylan, but the problems seem to recur more often. But it happens anyway. In some cases, for example, if you try to just block the current session, it also generates behavior. Below is the result of journalctl attached to this. Thanks! ** Attachment added: "prevboot.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/2056543/+attachment/5754998/+files/prevboot.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2056543 Title: Ubuntu 24.04 breaking gnome, showing "Oops.." requesting logout, and several instabilities when using GDM3 instead of Waylan after upgrading from 22.04 to 24.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/2056543/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1960159] [NEW] 5.13 amdgpu, random pixel screen
Public bug reported: Hi, I have a Laptop with a Ryzen 5500U, running Linux Mint 20.3. To make use of the graphics driver, I update the kernel from 5.4 to 5.13. The computer is booting up, the LM splash screen apprears and then the screen gets funky with a random assignment of pixels. It seems each pixel gets a random assigned color (white, red, blue, green?, black). The pixels change color roughly every 200-500 ms. This happens with 5.13.0-28 and 5.13.0-23. The laptop is not responding to anything. Using 5.11.22 works without any flaws. AMD gpu drivers are installed correctly. [Bug 1959508] [NEW] Proposal to include exiv2 0.27.5 in Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
Public bug reported: On https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/jammy/+source/exiv2 I see that Ubuntu 22.04 currently includes exiv2 0.27.3 Exiv2 v0.27.5 includes support for Canon *.CR3 image files. The CR3 file format has been the Canon camera-raw file format since mid 2018, and is probably one of the most common raw image file formats today. [Bug 1955109] Re: boot menu not appearing after manual install of jellyfish daily build
As OS PROBER is disabled for security reasons I think this bug should be labelled 'security issue' ** Description changed: desktop amd64 PC, UEFI, 8 core processor, 16gb RAM, nVidia graphics card, several ssd's manual install of Kubuntu Jellyfish to a partition on ssd alongside Kubuntu Focal LTS I am testing an installation of Kubuntu Jellyfish daily build alongside Kubuntu Focal 20.04.3 Usually this proceeds without a problem. Since the 16th Dec daily build of Jammy, the boot menu does not appear any more after installation, also booting ignores Kubuntu Focal and proceeds directly to Kubuntu 22.04. I recovered the boot menu on this PC by running boot-restore from an iso of Kubuntu Focal both Focal and Jelly fish are then available from the restored boot menu. [Bug 1955109] Re: boot menu not appearing after manual install of jellyfish daily build
There is a workaround here but I'm pretty sure a newcomer to Ubuntu wouldn't be able to discover it. To them this would appear to be an insurmountable problem and they could get into difficulties as any other OS present alongside on their device would apparently have 'disappeared'. Because this bug prevents completion of Jammy Jellyfish installation it seems testing is halted for the time being until the issue is addressed. As this situation arose on 8-11-2021 and it seems to have had no attention since then I am guessing the developers consider this to be a matter of little or no importance at this time. I suspect that they are aware of what is holding things up and will return the daily-live releases to a state where testing can resume when they are ready. [Bug 1951399] Re: xubuntu jammy daily fails to install
Something similar to this occurred on a previous version of Kubuntu. I was test installing Kubuntu and I think it was Impish Indri. If I remember right the tool chain had just been installed and the problem was in there somewhere. I'm not a programmer or developer so I can't expand on that. I think tool chain might have something to do with it. My report on 2021-11-08 was the first instance of this bug, I had been testing every day with no problem until then. I posted at launchpad as soon as it cropped up. My report was bug 1950132. I'm happy to engage in further testing if this is useful. I had this issue as well, through ALL of the 5.x kernels. Tried everything mentioned in the thread here, but nothing worked other than going to 4.15 kernel. [Bug 1937115] Re: Unable to boot/install Impish daily in UEFI boot mode
recently... while booting the ISO image for the Impish live build the following error lines are displayed: [ 1.501001] gpio gpiochip: (gpio_aaeon): tried to insert a GPIO chip with zero lines [ 1.501013] gpiochip_add_data_with_key: GPIOs O..-1 (gpio_aaeon) failed to register. -22 [ 0.197133] gpio gpiochip: (gpio_aaeon): tried to insert a GPIO chip with zero lines [ 0.197161] gpiochip_add_data_with_key: GPIOs O..-1 (gpio_aaeon) failed to register. -22 After a pause the iso then continues to boot and a successful installation proceeds without any signs of further error. this first occurred at 20210820 (since fix released) I have an own build PC with nVidia graphics and use 'safe graphics' to boot the iso Prior to this I was not experiencing the problems that had been occurring with Dell laptops. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1937115 Title: Unable to boot/install Impish daily in UEFI boot mode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/1937115/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
