[Bug 999109] Re: complete freeze of Ubuntu after some time using Java, wine, games (GL?)

2015-07-14 Thread Jonas Platte
Yes, use the proprietary driver or a get a new system with Intel
Integrated Graphics. I did the latter eventually.

If you really want this fixed though, report the bug upstream (in
whatever bug tracker the nouveau devs actually use, because Launchpad is
about the worst place to file bugs for everything that isn't a project
developed here).

[Bug 1421710] Re: Rating entry form does not appear sometimes

2015-03-21 Thread Jonas Platte
I'm able to reproduce this with the bq Ubuntu Phone. The only reliable
way of getting the rating form is to tap-and-hold on the icon in the
Apps scope. Clicking Telegram in the 'App of the week' thing also works,
but obviously, that doesn't help me for all the other apps.

[Bug 1434839] [NEW] Scope is empty in some situations

2015-03-21 Thread Jonas Platte
Public bug reported:

When a search in the Ubuntu Store scope has no results, the scope is
completely empty. There is no message or anything that indicates that
there were no search results. This is the same when you search for
something and don't have an internet connection, or reload the scope
without an internet connection.

I think in all of these cases there should be a message telling me why
there is no actual content.

This might be why searching for Yahoo displays three apps, Yahoo!

[Bug 1430750] Re: Insecure Default Config leads to security issue

2015-03-12 Thread Jonas Platte
Allright, there is probably some reason this was removed in the original
patch. If you don't want to do anything beyond what you've done already,
that's fine by me. I won't fix this because I hate Launchpad with a
passion; I just seem to have subscribed to tntnet bugs here somewhen,
that's why I got involved.

As another option you could maybe contact the tntnet maintainer and ask
him how to best fix this: to...@tntnet.org

That will probably still allow paths like /../../etc/passwd. That's
why tntnet has the documentRoot setting, which should be available in
tntnet 2.0, but should also already be set in the default configuration:

2015-03-11 Thread Jonas Platte
Oh, wait a second. The DocumenRoot was already set in the upstream
.conf.in file, but was removed by the original debian patch! What?? I
would seriously recommend you to find out why it was removed originally,
and restore it. The DocumentRoot setting is specifically made for this
purpose, and prepending a path like what you did is never a good idea!

I don't know if this is still an issue for anyone, but for me it's not
because I am no more using the computer that had it; so for me,
everything is okay.

However, I still have access to the computer with that graphics card and
can collect the information from a live system. I will do that in the
next days.

[Bug 969489] Re: lightdm tries (and fails) to start too early?

2013-07-29 Thread Jonas Platte
Since I reinstalled my system (13.10) in UEFI mode, this bug even occurs
more often. Before it only occured about every second start.

I've got a SATA II SSD, and a Haswell i5 CPU which also handles the
graphics.

The special thing about the bug for me is that I am never able to start
or restart lightdm manually. It shows a blinking cursor on a black
screen like on the most boots. Even when the boot works normally, I
sometimes get the black screen again when logging out.

[Bug 1055744] Re: can't remove a widget correctly from a Gtk::ScrolledWindow

2012-10-07 Thread Jonas Platte
Thanks! :)
I wondered why the remove function doesn't work, if it's just the function from
Gtk::Bin and no additional function from the ScrolledWindow class. This is the
solution!

Now that opens up a simple way to work around this, but I think this
still is a misbehaviour and should be fixed. I already opened a thread
in the gtkmm mailing list: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gtkmm-
list/2012-October/msg2.html so I'll ask there again.

[Bug 1055744] [NEW] can't remove a widget correctly from a Gtk::ScrolledWindow

2012-09-24 Thread Jonas Platte
Public bug reported:

I've got a little program that should change the content in the left
area when an item in a TreeView on the left side of the window is
clicked. Everything worked well, until I changed the right areas base
container to a ScrolledWindow. Now, when I remove a widget from the
right area, and afterwards - somewhen in the runtime - change back to
it, it can't be added anymore. I get the error

Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_scrolled_window_add_with_viewport: assertion
`gtk_widget_get_parent (child) == NULL' failed

I've found a bug report for something that seems to be the same, but in
gtkmm 2.4: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtkmm2.4/+bug/30345

[Bug 1032806] [NEW] lightdm doesn't start if weston is activated (12.10 with system compositor ppa, nouveau)

2012-08-03 Thread Jonas Platte
Public bug reported:

I already filed this bug when I used the xorg-edgers ppa. Now I purged
it but that doesn't help. So here is the description again, updated with
the new lightdm version and a detailed description on what happens.

On my system, lightdm fails to start whenever I try to start it with
enabled type=weston under [SeatDefaults] in my lightdm.conf.

The logs are from my current system start, where the weston-option was
enabled at startup. I got the error Your system is running in low-
graphics mode but if I went through the menu, and chose to run with low
graphics, I didn't get the login screen - I saw the startup output and
got to the console with Ctrl+Alt+F1, from where I disabled the weston-
option and rebooted.

Re: [Bug 998088] Re: guake doesn't remember transparency

Soory Jonas I do not understand your last comment.

...but it didn't reset my configuration... - ???

I have thought that configuration reset was the problem?! - Typo?

Normally apt-get purge ... should remove any program _and_ its
configuration. But when I used it to remove guake, and then reinstalled,
guake had my old configuration.
But this is only one way I tried to fix the problem.

The problem I have is that the transparency bug isn't fixed like you said
it.

I have version 4.3, but I still have this problem. I tried purging
guake and installing it again. It worked without problems, but it didn't
reset my configuration and didn't fix the bug.

[Bug 999109] Re: complete freeze of Ubuntu after some time using Java

2012-06-06 Thread Jonas Platte
Another UPDATE:
I now discovered that there are two types of freezes:
The first one is what I mentioned before: complete system freeze, no mouse
move, music lags and ends some seconds later.
But I now had some freezes (more rare) that didn't affect the music. I couldn't
change to the virtual consoles, but I was able to access the computer via ssh.
I'll try that with the next freezes too.

And it's absolutely clear now that it's not a java bug. I got it also
with Games on wine and rarely also without playing games (When desktop
effects of Unity apperared or when i clicked onto notifications of Opera
Next).

Btw: I'd be glad to be able to help fixing the bug, I have some basic
knowledge of C/C++.

UPDATE (because the title changed): It's not Java that's causing the
problem, because Minecraft server runs perfectly over hours. It's only
when I play Minecraft on that computer (could it have something to do
with OpenGL?)

UPDATE: The freeze only happens when I play Minecraft, so it has
something to do with Java, but only the graphics part (could be openGL)
because it doesn't happen if I only run a Minecraft server.

[Bug 999109] [NEW] complete freeze of Ubuntu after some time

2012-05-14 Thread Jonas Platte
Public bug reported:

Since I upgraded to 12.10, my computer freezes randomly after some time. If I
play Minecraft, it freezes after mac. 30min, if I use my computer normally it
only freezes after 1 hour or more. I think it never happened if I used Gnome or
Unity 2D (if I didn't play Minecraft there).
I can't use the mouse or get into the console with Ctrl+Alt+F1, so I have to
manually reboot the computer every time it freezes.

It should be easy to Pin but if not, and you can not find it via
Dateien (standard German translation) you should add a launcher via
Main Menu (somehow same in german). If it does not work after this it
is probably a bug.
