[Bug 351970] Re: [Hewlett-Packard HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PC] suspend/resume failure [non-free: nvidia]
The Karmic 64-bit Live CD booted perfectly for me on a HP Pavilion dv6700t SE | Core 2 Duo T9300 | 4 GB RAM | 160 GB HD | nVidia 8400M GS (256 MB) | Intel 4965 AGN WiFi. Without installing nvidia drivers, on battery power, I had just a black screen upon resume though it seemed to resume just without x running. Didn't check AC power/ When I installed nvidia-glx-180 and restarted x (via sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart), I was able to successfully suspend and resume on both battery and AC power. X is running properly with no delay or any other issue. The 'Hardware Drivers' screen still says I need to restart the computer (can't on Live CD), but synaptic package manager shows the driver as installed. The NVIDIA X Server Settings program under System>Administration is operative. And the nvidia driver shows as loaded under /var/log/Xorg.0.log. Hope that helps. Seems to be a step in the right direction! -- [Hewlett-Packard HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PC] suspend/resume failure [non-free: nvidia] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/351970 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 344343] Re: Installation for theme "name_of_the_theme" failed. Can't move directory over directory
I ran into this problem. I installed some Shiki-Colors themes, but hadn't installed the corresponding icon theme ahead of time. So I deleted those themes using the delete button in Appearances, installed the right icon themes and then tried re-installing the shiki themes. The same directory over directory error occurred. Using this thread http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1040277, I was able to correct the error. It seems the delete function from appearances doesn't delete the folders in your .themes folder in the home directory. Once you manually remove these folders, you can install the original theme again. A new theme was able to be installed correctly throughout this process for me. -- Installation for theme "name_of_the_theme" failed. [Bug 277634] Re: Intel Pro/Wireless 4965 AG stops transferring data within a few minutes
I experience this problem under Jaunty beta, but only under 11n networking. I've found when the connection stops transmitting packets if I click on another link (that hasn't been cached into memory) many times in succession (~20x), it will reconnect in about 20 seconds instead of +1 minute. -- Intel Pro/Wireless 4965 AG stops transferring data within a few minutes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/277634 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 205990] Re: [hardy] splash screen disappears after a few seconds
I also ran into this bug on Hardy and it persisted after upgrading to Intrepid. The problem began for me after an unfortunate situation caused by using ext2fs on MS Vista to access some videos from my Ubuntu ext3 partition. At some point, I think Vista either slept or hibernated which caused my ext3 partition and swap partition to be labeled read- only. After some fsck's/fixes and after swapoff and mkswap on /dev/sda5 to restore use of my Ubuntu partition, this bug started occurring. The fix offered by wieman01 through analystscouch solved this problem for me as well. -- [hardy] splash screen disappears after a few seconds https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/205990 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This is how I noticed: I have Cheese running with normal webcam video output. I open Totem and the video output immediately takes on a green/purple hue. This doesn't go away until the computer is restarted. The webcam video output is also discolored in Skype. However, the webcam video output is not discolored in Ekiga. I've also noticed that if I take pictures with Cheese, the resulting JPEG does not exhibit the discoloration, though they are the wrong aspect ratio (352 by 288). [Bug 231278] [NEW] Opposite Response on Power Event
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, Kernel Linux 2.6.24-16-generic, Gnome-Power-Manager 2.22.1 Power events cause the opposite response from selected settings under System>Preferences>Power Management - Icon in top panel is always correct (e.g. power cord when plugged in, battery when not) However, if you hold the cursor over the icon when battery is displayed, message returns "Computer is running on AC power" - Unplug power the screen brightens and the screen blanks on lid close. This matches the power settings for "On AC power" - Plug the power back in the screen dims and the computer sleeps on lid close.
