[Bug 555333] [NEW] Sync madfuload 1.2-4 (multiverse) from Debian unstable (non-free)

2010-04-04 Thread Neil Wilson
Public bug reported:

Please sync madfuload 1.2-4 (multiverse) from Debian unstable (non-free)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
All changes merged into Debian version - including fixes that allow the
64 bit version to work.

Changelog entries since current lucid version 1.2-2ubuntu2:

madfuload (1.2-4) unstable; urgency=low

  * Imported changes from Ubuntu 1.2-2ubuntu3~karmic~ppa2 (Closes: #547336,
thanks to Neil Wilson):

- 42-madfuload.rules.in: substitution variables need to be in lower
case

 -- Free Ekanayaka fr...@debian.org Fri, 26 Mar 2010 17:23:26 +0100

madfuload (1.2-3) unstable; urgency=low

  * Imported changes from Ubuntu 1.2-2ubuntu2 (Closes #547336, thanks
to Scott James Remnan):

- 42-madfuload.rules.in: Add -D $root/$name to madfuload calls so we use
  /dev/bus/usb paths.
- Makefile.in, Makefile.am: Install udev rules into /lib/udev/rules.d
- configure.ac, configure: Drop attempt to figure out the path, the conf
file is always in /etc but the rules are in /lib
- configure.ac, configure: Update to call udevadm info
- debian/control: Depend on udev

Re: [Bug 499195] Re: No HDMI hotplug in Acer Aspire 5536

2010-03-31 Thread Neil Wilson
It's never worked as a hotplug.

On 30 March 2010 22:10, Bryce Harrington br...@bryceharrington.org wrote:
As this is an output detection issue when running with kernel
modesetting, since the kernel is now in charge of setting up and
managing the video outputs, I'm bumping this over to the kernel team.

One other question - did this use to work and has regressed, or has it
never worked as you expect in Ubuntu?

 ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu)

Re: [Bug 550477] Re: 1920 x 1080 HD displays outside frame of screen.

2010-03-29 Thread Neil Wilson
That's the thing though. The screen is a 1080p screen.
(Or it's a limitation of the video card - which can't drive the higher
setting. I can't tell which).

The resolution selector doesn't state whether the resolution is 1080i
or 1080p, and perhaps it should. See bug 550486 about the failure to
identify the screen correctly.

On 28 March 2010 22:14, Robert Hooker sarv...@gmail.com wrote:
compensate for overscan somewhere in the menus. 1360x768 is the
preferred mode to use though if the alternative is 1920x1080i and not
1920x1080p, it is the native resolution of your screen and will be
 sharper.

[Bug 550477] [NEW] 1920 x 1080 HD displays outside frame of screen.

2010-03-28 Thread Neil Wilson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

Fantastic that HD display and sound is working in Lucid. Kudos all
round.

On this display 1360x768 is working fine, but the windows on 1920x1080
mode are too big for the screen, so the title bar and the scroll bar are
outside the display area.

Don't know if this is the display driver or the preferences.

mplayer doesn't use native pulseaudio by default. You have to specify

mean sound comes out of a different sound card than the one selected in
Sound Preferences.

[Bug 499195] Re: No HDMI hotplug in Acer Aspire 5536

2010-03-28 Thread Neil Wilson
Removing the HDMI cable still fails to cause a reconfiguration. The
second screen stays active until you use Monitor preferences which then
detects the change. 'Apply' then switches the second screen off.

Still no HDMI available unless the cable is attached when the bios
initialises.

[Bug 543219] [NEW] Adding PPA details to Other Software is awkward

2010-03-21 Thread Neil Wilson
Public bug reported:

Software properties could do with some TLC to make adding PPA details a
bit easier.

(i) If the source line for a ppa is in Other Software already, then using the
ppa:x/ shortcut doesn't add the binary line.
(ii) The instructions on the 'Add' dialog don't tell you how to use the ppa
shortcut.
(iii) There doesn't appear to be a way to get it to add both the binary and the
source lines in a single step.

I know that 'real programmers' probably use echo from the command line,
but if there is to be an interface it should at least be functionally
complete.

[Bug 416257] Re: [Acer Aspire 5536] hibernate/resume failure

2010-03-17 Thread Neil Wilson
Can't collect any information due to bug #516381 in apport-collect.

The instructions are now wrong. apport-collect doesn't take a '-p'
argument any more.

Other than that the bug is confirmed in Linux acer-aspire-5536
2.6.32-16-generic #25-Ubuntu SMP Tue Mar 9 16:33:12 UTC 2010 x86_64
GNU/Linux and is potentially a regression.

[Bug 516381] Re: apport-gtk crashed with --- in _request()

2010-03-17 Thread Neil Wilson
Affects me. Might only occur during the initial authorisation exchange
with Launchpad. I didn't see the fault when I re-ran apport-collect once
authorisation has happened.
