[Bug 1891867] Re: zfs not correctly imported at boot

2020-09-09 Thread Panther
Just a correction to the previous comment. The problem did not vanish,
but after 20 times booting the system, the mounting failed once.

[Bug 1891867] Re: zfs not correctly imported at boot

2020-09-07 Thread Panther
Here are
zpool list -v:
NAME SIZE ALLOC FREE CKPOINT EXPANDSZ FRAGCAP DEDUP
HEALTH ALTROOT
sdb 1,81T 1,41T 415G- - 0%77% 1.00x
ONLINE -
  sdb1_crypt 928G 722G 206G- - 0% 77,8% -
ONLINE
  sdb2_crypt 928G 719G 209G- - 0% 77,4% -
ONLINE

and

cat /etc/crypttab:
vol-root_crypt UUID=$UUID1 none luks,discard
vol-swap_crypt /dev/mapper/nvme-swap /dev/urandom
cipher=aes-xts-plain64,size=256,swap,discard
sdb1_crypt UUID=$UUID2 /root/sdb.key luks
sdb2_crypt UUID=$UUID3 /root/sdb.key luks

When I created the bug report I had the additional line
vol-tmp_crypt /dev/mapper/vol-tmp /dev/urandom
cipher=aes-xts-plain64,size=256,tmp,discard
in my config, as reported in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1891858

Lately I upgraded the CPU/Mainbord/Memory with more compute power. Instead of
around 7200, I now have around 15000 CPUMark points. With the slower system,
mounting did not work for weeks of daily booting. Since the upgrade the problem
vanished.
May your system is to fast? Compare it with this

[Bug 1891858] Re: Race condition in mounting /tmp at boot

2020-09-07 Thread Panther
Even with around 15000 PassMark CPU Points the race to the mounting of /tmp is
unreliable. I switched to a memory based /tmp. I removed the mentioned lines
from /etc/crypttab and /etc/fstab and added
tmpfs /tmptmpfs mode=1777,strictatime,nosuid,nodev,size=4G

[Bug 1891867] Re: zfs not correctly imported at boot

2020-08-19 Thread Panther
Yes, this ZFS is a manual setup. I tried to attach it to zfs-linux, but
my browser failed me. @baling Thanks for moving the bug into the right
direction.

A run of apport-collect fails, because
"Package zfs-linux not installed and no hook available, ignoring"
As zfs-linux is the source package, but not the installable package, this seems
correct. Instead I did run "apport-bug --save foo zfs-dkms":

[Bug 1891867] [NEW] zfs not correctly imported at boot

2020-08-17 Thread Panther
Public bug reported:

On a fresh and up-to-date Ubuntu 20.04 amd64 installation I configured
two encrypted partitions on the same hdd. On these I created a stripped
zpool. After login I can import and mount the pool without problems, but
the at-boot import fails after the first partitions is available and
never tried again.

zpool version:

[Bug 1891858] [NEW] Race condition in mounting /tmp at boot

2020-08-17 Thread Panther
Public bug reported:

I have configured a separate /tmp partition, which is a LVM volume and create
at boot via an /etc/crypttab entry
  vol-tmp_crypt /dev/mapper/vol-tmp /dev/urandom
cipher=aes-xts-plain64,size=256,tmp,discard
and mounted via an fstab entry
  /dev/mapper/vol-tmp_crypt /tmpext2defaults0 2
At about every third boot /tmp is not mounted and then gnome-shell cannot
start, because it is not allowed to write in not mounted /tmp directory. One or
two restart are required to fix this problem.
###
Independent of the success of the boot process, the log message related to the
problem seem to be:

[Bug 937537] Re: libgnutls26 2.12.14 breaks SSL tracker support in Transmission

2014-10-19 Thread Shadow Panther
This bug exists in 14.04 with fresh updates. Installing libgnutls26 is
no longer possible, as it breaks depends for other packages. Version of
libgnutls26 from sid doesn't fix the bug.

Can I do something else to fix this or provide more information for
fixing?

[Bug 936473] Re: xfce4-sensors-plugin misses the netcat feature

2012-03-01 Thread Panther
Can you just disable this part of the configure script? I do not see
much use in it anyway. The hardcoded parts are bad, but if they are
included, it would help most people interested in this package. Right
now everyone, people with default configs and people without, has to
build their own package.

[Bug 936473] [NEW] xfce4-sensors-plugin misses the netcat feature

2012-02-19 Thread Panther
Public bug reported:

xfce4-senors-plugin allows hard disk checking with netcat to the hddtemp
daemon at localhot:7634. As this seems to be more reliable than checking
the hard disk by suid binary, it is a wanted feature.

To enable it:
In the debian/rules files add --enable-netcat as such:
override_dh_auto_configure:
dh_auto_configure -- --enable-libsensors=yes --enable-procacpi
--enable-hddtemp=yes --enable-notification --enable-netcat
In debian/control add netcat as a Build-Depends and as a Recommends.
Rebuild the package with fakeroot debian/rules binary.

 Status: New

[Bug 640328] Re: Input device is not saved

2010-10-12 Thread Shadow Panther
This bug affects me too. I have QuickCam Communicate STX Analog Mono input
and I have set internal soundcard as output-only device, so I have only one
sound input available.
After every reboot, USB microphone is deselected and muted(!) in sound
preferences dialog.
After every suspend-resume, USB microphone is just deselected, but not muted.

Also, this bug seems to happen more likely after computer suspend, not fresh

This is actually a power applet with keyboard icon and text. I have wireless
trackball and it's battery is getting low.

So, I have three screensavers, one for GDM, and two for my user. Also,
two instances for my user have sequential PIDs, so they were launched

Re: [Bug 235728] Re: cannot connect to localhost to download updates

2008-07-07 Thread Joseph Douglas Panther
Hello: I'm sorry but I'm afraid that I cannot help you. I just started using a
Linux operating system on a dual-booted computer and know very little about it
yet. I'm still mostly using TOOS (That Other Operating Sysyem- AKA Vista).JDP
P.S. The system administrators helped me because I'd downloaded an encryption
program that was preventing me from connecting to the internet. If you chech
the error code box that comes up it usually tells you which programs are
causing the problem. Uninstalling them through the Synaptic Package Manager
solved the problem. I hope this helps.JDP

please write back to me and send to me in my e-mail what steps I must do
to be able to connect with the server. As it is now standing, it states
that my IP address is 127.0 (something, can't remember the rest).

I am a newbie to Ubuntu and could use a bit of direction so I can
download the programs I designated to be installed from the
repository/server.

[Bug 230007] [NEW] Ubuntu Harty, Glom 1.6.14 -Layouts with 3 or more columns will not align correctly

2008-05-13 Thread Panther
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: glom

When creating a layout with more than 3 columns, the third or 4th, etc
columns, will not align correctly, the third column will be 3 inches
away from the 2nd column.

For example if you create a new database with 12 number fields in a table.
Then under the details tab, layout you add all fields and set the columns to 3.
The first 2 columns of will be aligned correctly and the 3 column will be about
3 inches away from the 2nd column.

If you organize them into three group you can get in to display
correctly however, if you try the same thing with 4 columns it will not
work.

Also you cannot have a in the title of the database, if you do the
tile will be. Database name example DD result: bDD/b
