Re: [Bug 365521] Re: Unwanted borders added at left and top of images

2009-05-07 Thread Ricardo
Hi, I looked more in depth and realized that the borders appeared when
zooming down (CTRL --). I set my browser back to "normal" zoom and the
borders desappeared .
I am sorry for the inconvenience, and very happy to have my firefox back
to a nice looking.

[Bug 331890] [NEW] FireFox starts in fullscreen mode automatically.

2009-02-19 Thread Ricardo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

Every time FireFox is launched, it pops up in full screen mode instead
of normal, window mode. I use Ubuntu 8.10, and I cannot see the upper
Applications bar neither the lower widow list bar. I can only fix this
by clicking twice F11, then minimizing FireFox and maximizing it again.
After that, it runs perfectly well again. Its not life or death, but it
is really annoying. Than you.

[Bug 55376] Splash screen fails to display on boot/shutdown

2006-08-06 Thread Ricardo
Public bug reported:

I'm running Ubuntu Dapper 6.06 on my Dell Dimension 5150 with ATI Radeon
X600 256MB and Dell 1907FP Flat Panel Monitor. When I installed my
machine onto my hard drive using the desktop CD it failed to correctly
configure the GRUB settings. When running the OS boot/shutdown screens I
get a "Cannot Display This Video Mode" on an otherwise blank screen.

Adding the kernel boot parameter "vga=791" fixes the problem but this
probably should have been added automatically by the system.

[Bug 376290] [NEW] local cache doesn't update to reflect Groupwise deletes/moves issued from another client

2009-05-13 Thread ricardo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I regularly use two different clients (home and office) to access my
Novell Groupwise server. Any emails that I delete or move from the inbox
on one client continue to be present in the inbox on the other client.
Refreshing the inbox folder changes nothing. The only consistent way
I've found to fix the problem is to delete the folders.db file from the
relevant account folder in my .evolution subdirectory. This forces
Evolution to regenerate the local cache. After this the inbox accurately
reflects the contents as they exist on the server.

[Bug 405999] [NEW] GPG spams output using "--no-verbose --quiet --batch" when decrypting email with Mutt

2009-07-28 Thread Ricardo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnupg

I'm using GPG with Mutt to encrypt my email but GPG seems to output
constantly its messages despite I'm using "--no-verbose --quiet
--batch". So, I need to refresh the Mutt interface in order to revert
what GPG does.

The output of GPG should be supressed with these options, but this is
not the case.

¿Is this a bug in GPG?

The GPG I'm using with Mutt is the recommended in the doc:

### GPG config for Mutt ###
set pgp_decode_command="gpg --status-fd=2 %?p?--passphrase-fd 0? --no-verbose

[Bug 405999] Re: GPG spams output using "--no-verbose --quiet --batch" when decrypting email with Mutt

2009-07-29 Thread Ricardo
The problem persist. When a gpg does a key verification or an email is
decrypted, gpg usually output some message which get merged with the
ncurses mutt interface.

I tried with the next gnupg config in the .muttrc using "--no-tty":

### GPG section in the .muttrc ###
set pgp_decode_command="gpg --no-tty --status-fd=2 %?p?--passphrase-fd 0?

[Bug 81898] Can't open strange name's archives

2007-01-27 Thread Ricardo
Public bug reported:

Probably it's a problem of the File Manager because any "ÇÃ" from
Windows don't apper correct.

I use Windows XP Professional and Winrar. In my work I compacted some data and
send to myself/backuped in gmail. The name of file was "CURSO DE MEMORIZAÇÃO",
but where the "ÇÃ" should be, apper some squares with strange caracteres (like
if I try to view a document in any language wich I don't have the correct
character sprites in firefox).
If I open the archive, select "CURSO DE MEMORIZA??O.DOC" and click to 'Extract
Selected Items' (using WinXP don't remenber the correct words) apper an error
message saing a file with that name don't exist. Using the "Extract All "
extract perfect.
When using the Open Office 2.0 to open the CURSO DE MEMORIZA??O.DOC or clicking
in the file in the File Browser Open Office says that archive with that name
doesn't exist.
Renaming the CURSO DE MEMORIZA??O.DOC to CURSO DE MEMORIZACAO.DOC all
funcionalit perfecty.

Sorry my bad English, but I gonna visit this post everyday if you need
any information more or any misunderstud information.

The error when I open the file in OpenOffice is :

I change the option but it doesn't change.

[Bug 84111] System -> Administration -> Services Doesn't open

2007-02-08 Thread Ricardo
Public bug reported:

clicked System -> Administration -> Services, and start removing all
selections, after i gonna active only the necessary, during the "unselection"

Administration -> Services doesn't open anymore. After the right typing of the
password it says :
"
The configuration could not be loaded
You are not allowed to access the system configuration.
"
All other administrative tasks using the GUI works right. I need some help to
debug this, I already installed the gdb. But I can't find the -gdb in

Another question, the Ubuntu use an very unstable repository, I'm
getting too many problems handling the most common programs in each

resolution, icons don't dis aper after the remove of the program and so

I only want help, help me using the debug and then I can take a back

[Bug 119688] Re: Screen goes blank and computer becomes unresponsive.

2007-10-20 Thread Ricardo
Upgraded to 7.10 - everything loaded perfectly - menus were present and
then I received option for "load restricted drivers" for graphics card
(ATI 400). Installed drivers, rebooted and black screen came up. None
of the fixes on the forums worked. Finally reverted back to 7.4. Is
there an issue with Ubuntu and certain graphics cards that is causing
this problem?

[Bug 207466] [NEW] system will not allow updates or downloads

2008-03-26 Thread Ricardo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I get the following message whenever I try to install any software -
updates or synaptic package or firefox dowloads:

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct
the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

This happened when I was using version 7.10 of Ubuntu. Loaded 8.04 and fixed
problem for a couple of days but problem has reappeared. Command line does
nothing. I am thinking of doing a clean reinstall of Heron to see if it takes
care of the problem.

[Bug 107410] mac address change problem on b44

2007-04-17 Thread ricardo
Public bug reported:

i change my mac address in the debian way, editing
/etc/network/interfaces

hwaddress ether xx:xx:...

after updating to the new kubuntu edgy it doesn't work anymore, when i
try to change it manualy with ifconfig command it said that the device
was busy, i compiled my own kernel to see if it was a b44.o module
problem and the same happened i edited b44.c file and found this:

if (netif_running(dev))
return -EBUSY;

so i fixed my problem by adding this to my interfaces file:

pre-up ifconfig eth0 hw ether xx:xx...

but this is not supposed to be the way to do it and i don't know if
it's a network module bug or a ifup script bug.

[Bug 246795] Re: Totem crash when maximize

2008-07-09 Thread Ricardo
When I start from a terminal I got the following error message:

/home/ricardo/.themes/Darker theme/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:50: Clearlooks configuration
option "menuitemstyle" is not supported and will be ignored.
/home/ricardo/.themes/Darker theme/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:51: Clearlooks configuration
option "listviewitemstyle" is not supported and will be ignored.
/home/ricardo/.themes/Darker theme/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:52: Clearlooks configuration
option "progressbarstyle" is not supported and will be ignored.
The program 'totem' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 1872 error_code 11 request_code 141 minor_code 19)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

[Bug 86292] Re: usb key is not mounted automaticaly (feisty)

2007-04-23 Thread Ricardo
Hi. I would like to report I'm also having this bug. I have it
installed on a HP zv6000 laptop with an AMD Athlon 64. I followed the
procedure for collecting data for debugging removable storage
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingRemovableDevices) and I am including
the output in a compressed folder. However, in running the procedure,
the command "ls /dev/sd*" produces an error on my machine because there
are no directories beginning with "sd", so there is no "devices.txt"
file included in my report. You should also notice that the command "id
hal" returned an error. If you need additional info, just ask.

[Bug 86292] Re: usb key is not mounted automaticaly (feisty)

2007-04-24 Thread Ricardo
Hi. I'm gonna post how I resolved my "problem;" this is also from a
thread running in Ubuntu forums in case there is similarity.

I have to post back that my problem with outomounting has been resolved;
however it was auto inflicted to begin with. I'll explain what happened
in case someone goes through the same (doubtful).

I'm working Ubuntu amd64 Feisty on an HP laptop. Those with one know how
pleasant it is getting the embedded ATI accelerator and Broadcom
wireless card working.

Well, I got a vanilla kernel b/c ndiswrapper wouldn't work on Edgy 64
bit without one, and installing ndiswrapper the first time in Feisty
didn't work. So I got 2.6.20.7 (so it's close to Feisty's
(2.6.20-15-generic), recompiled using The Master Kernel Thread and got
ndiswrapper working. I then got fglrx working too.

It was a couple of days later that I tried using the USB drive and
noticed it wasn't mounting. Thus my posts.

I uninstalled fglrx AND ndiswrapper, and reverted back to the
2.6.20-15-generic kernel and guess what? Automounting. But if that's not
enough, ndiswrapper was working too! So I still can use my wireless!
Weird!

Just for the record: KBA3AP's solution worked for me. Also upgraded from
Gutsy.

[Bug 74362] Re: usb wireless device zd1211rw 5-2:1.0: zd_chip_control_leds error -19

2008-04-26 Thread Ricardo
Same problem here. All USB devices just disconnect randomly. Same
messages as above.

For now, I've managed to get the USB devices up with

sudo modprobe ehci_hcd

When the USB goes down I just run that command in the terminal. There is
no difference if you run sudo modprobe ehci_hcd or sudo rmmod ehci_hcd.
Everything comes back up again.

[Bug 53575] Re: Random screensaver is always the same one

2008-04-26 Thread Ricardo
It is there in hardy for me too. Is there a way to include the other
screensavers in the Random pick list?

[Bug 74362] Re: usb wireless device zd1211rw 5-2:1.0: zd_chip_control_leds error -19

2008-04-27 Thread Ricardo
After some more testing I've come to the conclusion that sudo
modprobe/rmmod ehci_hcd doesn't always work. :( It worked a few times
but it's not consistent.

Another thing I'd like to ask to everyone that has this problem is if
you have the usbkbd module loaded. My USB Wifi has been running for 4
hours now without crashing since I disabled it.

This module is blacklisted in 8.04 but I need it because my keyboard
doesn't work very well connected to the PS/2 port. (using a USB to PS/2
converter).

[Bug 224854] Re: _usr_sbin_firestarter.0.crash

2008-05-10 Thread Ricardo
I had a similar problem with sudo. I solved it, I hope this helps
developers to fix it quickly.

Problem:
Recently upgrading to Hardy
Inconsistent performance from commads "sudo" or "gksu" (I stopped using
"gksudo", I thought it was deprecated but in retrospect if it isn't deprecated
it might be related to this too).
When running a "sudo" command in the console from a computer with hostname
"myoriginalhostname" you get the message:
[CODE]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo echo "Hello"
sudo: unable to resolve host myoriginalcomputername
Hello
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$
[/CODE]

The problem is that apparently the upgrader sets the computer name in the
/etc/hosts file to the "default" computer name that the Ubuntu installer sets
up. Thus, it takes the current user name and appends something like "-desktop"
or "-laptop" to the end. So the hosts file might have a line like this:
[CODE]
127.0.1.1 myusername-laptop
[/CODE]

Solution:
For the installer (developers), you would have to make sure that the correct
hostname is written to this file when upgrading. For the end user, edit the
mentioned line in /etc/hosts and change "myusername-laptop" to your original
computer name. I hope that helps.
