[Bug 144288] recommends: mail-reader not justified
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: postfix An MTA and a MUA are completely different things, there's no rationale to recommend mail-reader to be installed. Or at least I can't think of one. None of my MTAs have anything to do with local mail delivery, and I don't understand why the should be. [Bug 136829] telnetd doesn't have an init.d-script or depend on inetd
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: telnetd When installing telnetd, it neither ships an init.d-script of it's own nor does it depend on inetd. [Bug 103074] Missing policy for CA certificates
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ca-certificates The ca-certificates package doesn't have a proper security policy. The process of adding certificates to the list of trusted root CAs doesn't require any sort of objective attestation of the trustability of the CA, as witnessed by the inconsistent certificate list with some 3rd party audited CAs missing and some unaudited CAs available. Quoting the README.Debian: - submit *GPG signed* bug report to ca-certificate with severity normal. the bug report should include - description of the CA - how to obtain CA cert pem or paste it in the bug report - license of the CA certificate - fingerprint and/or hash value of the cert - get 2 or 3 recommendation ("seconded" mail) from other people to the bug report, GPG signed. As the PKI security systems that the Internet rests on ultimately break down to how trustable the CAs are, this very seriously undermines any pretense of secure communications. ** Affects: ca-certificates (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Missing policy for CA certificates https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/103074 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 69525] Re: Port listeningn / registration broken (by design)
Yes, it is. This is by design, as I pointed out. It's in 2.0.3-0ubuntu5 as well as in snapshot 20070208-01-feisty.1 from snapshots.ekiga.net. It goes as far as when starting ekiga when I have no network connection for it being unfunctional until restarted (even trying to register my account by hand doesn't work, it just always says "registration failed" presumably because it doesn't have the socket to use). -- Port listeningn / registration broken (by design) https://launchpad.net/bugs/69525 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I'm not sure if mine is the same bug, but when I read articles in the unread-folder, either by down-arrow or mouse-clicking on the next one, the previous article doesn't get removed from the unread-folder, though it gets marked read. I can right-click the articles and choose "mask as read" which seems to remove them. -- liferea incorrectly reports number of unread messages https://launchpad.net/bugs/81128 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 83896] Screen brightness in minimum
Public bug reported: Sometimes the ACPI in the latest Feisty seems to malfunction, so my screen brightness is set to minimum, and even if I try to brighten the screen using Fn-Home it brightens it, the Ubuntu brightness meter comes on-screen, and the system seems to reset the brightness immediately back to the minimum. I dist-upgraded just now, 2007-02-08. I've set my screen brightness to the maximum when plugged in, and 75% when on battery. This "jamming screen brightness to minimum" seems to happen especially when I plug my computer on AC, after booting on battery. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Screen brightness in minimum https://launchpad.net/bugs/83896 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 83665] Multi-line text handling in openoffice.org calc broken
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org When I have multi-line cells with many lines of text with different lines hand-separated by line breaks, openoffice.org often during editing removes the line breaks. Also, even though openoffice.org seems to support line breaks inside cells, there seems to be no way of inserting them except by copy-pasting from someplace else. Then, perhaps another bug or maybe not, when these cells start with a dash, even though the cells are being used for text and were previously prefixed by an apostrophe ('), openoffice.org sometimes decides that the cells must contain an equation instead, so it clears all the line breaks, lowercases the text, prefixes the cell data with an equals to -sign (=) and displays #NAME? as the contents. ** Affects: openoffice.org (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Multi-line text handling in openoffice.org calc broken https://launchpad.net/bugs/83665 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
