[Bug 815710] Re: To-button: looking up contacts is very slow

2011-08-04 Thread Veger
I updated the description a bit to clarify it more.

** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu)
   Status: New = Confirmed

** Description changed:

- Hi,
- when I start typing a contact name in the To box, It seems like the program
hangs, but after +/-30 sec, then the program does continue.
- Regards, Karel
+ When I start typing a contact name in the To box, It seems like the auto
completion is not working, but after +/-30 sec the auto completion works and
the email adress is completed.
+ During this period it is still possibl e to continue typing the email adress
(or do other things), the evolution itself does not hang.

[Bug 773466] Re: libva1 trying to open /usr/lib/dri/nvidia_drv_video.so ends with segmentation fault

2011-08-03 Thread Veger
For me it works for ATI/fglrx with these steps:
1) Install fglrx and libva1 1.0.12-1~xup from
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-updates
2) Download and install
http://www.splitted-desktop.com/~gbeauchesne/xvba-video/xvba-video_0.8.0-1_amd64.deb
(the version from the repositories seems to be missing functions)
3) libva looks in /usr/lib/dri/ for its drivers and xvba-video installs in
/usr/lib/va/ so create a symolic link to fix this: ln -s
/usr/lib/va/fglrx_drv_video.so /usr/lib/dri/ (see comment #9)
4) set LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME to fglrx (export LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME=fglrx) eg in
~/.bashrc to prevent vlc crashes (see comment #9)
5) Optional, install vainfo and run the comment to see that everything is
working correctly, for me (ATI HD5870) it returns:
libva: libva version 0.32.0
libva: User requested driver 'fglrx'
libva: Trying to open /usr/lib/dri/fglrx_drv_video.so
libva: va_openDriver() returns 0
vainfo: VA API version: 0.32
vainfo: Driver version: Splitted-Desktop Systems XvBA backend for VA-API - 0.8.0
vainfo: Supported profile and entrypoints
  VAProfileH264High : VAEntrypointVLD
  VAProfileVC1Advanced: VAEntrypointVLD

So to return to this bug report, adding the LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME=fglrx and
creating the symbolic link worked for me as a fix/workaround. So I
suppose it should be included in the/a package so it is set
automatically?

[Bug 815710] Re: To-button: looking up contacts is very slow

2011-08-03 Thread Veger
I have a similar experience, although evolution does not *really* hang, as I
can continue typing the email adress.
If I wait for a while (might be about 30 seconds yes), the contact is found and
the emailadress is completed.

Is this the same for you, or does evolution really hang (and you are
unable to continue typing) while looking up the contacts?

2011-08-03 Thread Veger
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if
you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test
it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running
apport-collect 542292 and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.

RI mark this report as 'fix released' as Oneiric contains a snapshow with the

Whether it will become available in natty is very doubtfull, as the patch does
not apply on the natty sources...

[Bug 818775] [NEW] Ark: adding a file to a folder get it in the 'root' of the archive

2011-07-31 Thread Veger
Public bug reported:

When adding a file to a folder inside an archive it places the file in the
'root' of the archive.
Steps to reproduce it:
1) Create an (tar.gz) archive with at least a folder in it.
2) Open it with ark
3) Drag another file to ark (hovering over the folder in the archive)
3a) Wrong: File gets created in 'root' of archive
4) Open/unfold the fodler in the archive and drag it to the fodler contents
4a) Wrong: File gets created in 'root' of archive

I am using Natty with KDE 4.6.5

Thanks for your report. Does the problem still happen?
If so, it might be due to problems with the certificates. A workaround is

Could you try this and report back if the workaround did work or not?

According to the title you are having a 'crash with a segmentation
fault', in your description you do not mention this anymore and provide
a lot of configuration settings/tries.

Could you update your description by telling when the crash occurs
(which configuration settings are at fault), and provide a backtrace so
we can (better) see what happend?

[Bug 791007] Re: Evolution crashed after sending an email with a link (https)

2011-06-05 Thread Veger
Thank you for your backtrace, unfortuately it is not very usefull when the
application did not crash.
So I guess we'll have to wait for another crash.

To help you get the backtrace properly you could enable apport. For more
information see https://wiki.kubuntu.org/Apport#How to enable apport
As your crash it not reproducable, it might be convient to keep apport enabled
until the crash occurred again (instead of enabling it once), so editing
/etc/default/apport seems your best option at the moment.

[Bug 317819] Re: Evolution shows false unread messages in folder

2011-06-05 Thread Veger
I can confirm as well, I have the same setup as bryncoles described in
comment #6

Additionally I read my email on two locations and I am wondering whether
it has something to do with reading email just to turn off the computer,
go to the other location (mail was still unread there as the first
location did not update a 'read flag') readthe email again. There going
back to the first lcoation, the unread counter seems to be off.

But I am not sure whether this is the real problem, but it kind of feels
this way.

I still see the same behaviour for the natty version (2.32.2) of

Additionally, almost the same problems occurr in 'Plain Text' mode. Only

Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or
feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an
issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May
you please test with that version and comment back if you're still
having or not the issue? Please have a look at

version.Thanks in advance.

2011-06-03 Thread Veger
Thanks for your reply. Unfortuately we do not have enough information to work
on this bug.
At a minimum we need:
- the actual error message when storing the send message in the IMAP account
fails
- the log file recorded when the error occurred (to generate the log file start
evolution from a terminal using evolution --debug=~/evo.log)

Hopefully this will result in a better understanding of the problem.

As an addition on my previous comment: in order to get more/useful log
information about the IMAP server communication, please start evolution
using: env CAMEL_VERBOSE_DEBUG=1 evolution ~/evo.log

Also, it might be a solution to update to a newer version of evolution,
the natty repositories provide version 2.32.2. Maybe this will fix your
problem..?

[Bug 791823] [NEW] Closing opened subfolders after moving a message

2011-06-02 Thread Veger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

When moving a message to another folder (using the mouse), folders
automatically show their subfolders when hovering above them (very
convenient). But after the move was completed (or canceled) all opened
folders stay open instead to reverting to their original (closed)
states.

So when moving slowely over the folder list, they are all opened and it
is quite some work to close them all again

[Bug 790014] Re: index says there is an unread message, but in fact there is no mesage

2011-06-02 Thread Veger
I frequently have this problem as well, also with the unread counter on
top of the list: xx unread, xx total

Choosing show 'Unread Messages', shows the 'unread' messages. But they are read
(and shown as read as well).
Selecting them and marking them as unread and after that marking them as read,
mostly fixes the wrong unread-counter
If that fails (sometimes) selecting all messages (in All Messages view) and
again marking them unread and read again, always fixes the wrong unread counter.

It seems that it has something to do with me having read the messages on
another computer at work (the unread messages problem then might happen
at home for the same email account)

It is working correctly for me.

For example, for my GMail account I have set the 'Send Messages folder'
(in the Account editor) to 'GMail/[Gmail]/Sent Mail' and the sent emails
all are stored in that folder.

So could you provide some more information about your (account)

I tried to reproduce your problem using the steps you provided, but
every thing seems to be working. I created 3 tasks using the 'fast entry

So could you try to give more information, what type of calendar

And hopefully we can find the cause of your problem.

[Bug 783525] [NEW] ntlmap has unhandled exceptions resulting in bad performance

[Bug 768727] Re: Brother HL 2040 prints infinite blank pages

2011-05-05 Thread Veger
I have the same problem. When I plugin the HL 2040 the HL 2060 driver is
used, so this driver is obviously not compatible with the printer.

- Brother HL-1030, Foomatic/hl1250
Works, good quality (probably a nicer rastering method than the WIndows driver
uses!)

- Brother HL-1040, Foomatic/hl7x0
Printing does not work: The printer Ready LED flashes for a while and
afterwards it is on again.

- Generic PCL-6/XL printer, Foomatic/pxlmono
A soft 'tick' sound occurred and the printer turned off... Surely is a bad
driver!

- Generic PCL-5e printer, Foomatic/hpijs-pcl5e
Works, but the gray (of the colored parts) areas are ugly (rastering method is
too coarse!)

So, when choosing from these 4 drivers the HL-1030 is best.

problems?

[Bug 775913] [NEW] gnome-settings-daemon cannot register type OxygenStyle

2011-05-02 Thread Veger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon

In order to have the oxygen theme for the gnome applications as well, I
installed gnome-settings-daemon. Since updating to natty this does not seem to
work anymore:
- After starting gnome-settings-daemon the gnome applications still look ugly
(ie no theme is added).
- When starting gnome-settings-daemon on the konsole these errors/warning are
shown:

(gnome-settings-daemon:8606): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: plugin 'oxygen-gtk'
failed to register type 'OxygenStyle'
** (gnome-settings-daemon:8606): WARNING **: Grab failed for some keys, another
application may already have access the them.
(gnome-settings-daemon:8606): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **:
gdk_pixbuf_format_get_name: assertion `format != NULL' failed
(gnome-settings-daemon:8606): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **:
gdk_pixbuf_format_get_name: assertion `format != NULL' failed

I suppose that especially the first warning (about the OxygenStyle)
suggests the reason why the gnome applications do not have the proper
theme.

[Bug 605356] [NEW] Mounting partitions using UUIDs fails while booting

2010-07-14 Thread Veger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mountall

When I use UUIDs in /etc/fstab mounting during booting fails. After mounting
failed, I can use manual recovery and use 'mount -a' to mount both partitions
correctly (ie UUID seems to be available at that time)
When I am using the device paths (/dev/sdaX) in fstab mounting does not fail.

I also tried to add bootwait to the mounting flags in fstab, as
suggested in #481190, but this did not affect the outcome.

My partial fstab (with UUID):
# /boot was on /dev/sda2 during installation
UUID=8a028428-471b-4ec8-aeba-1abeb4216f95 /boot   ext3defaults
  0 2
# /home was on /dev/sda6 during installation
UUID=760f6b92-5efc-4141-bd52-fe1dee758715 /home   ext3defaults
  0 2

An without UUID (and working):
# /boot was on /dev/sda2 during installation
/dev/sda2 /boot ext3defaults0 2
# /home was on /dev/sda6 during installation
/dev/sda6 /home ext3defaults0 2

blkid returns:
/dev/sda2: LABEL=grub UUID=8a028428-471b-4ec8-aeba-1abeb4216f95
SEC_TYPE=ext2 TYPE=ext3
/dev/sda6: UUID=760f6b92-5efc-4141-bd52-fe1dee758715 SEC_TYPE=ext2
TYPE=ext3

I attached the boot.log when booting failed and I had chosen to skip the
manual recovery.
