[Bug 301926] Re: Crash/Freeze When using bit torrent client and other random programs
Hey nrml, I have actually figured out why my bit torrent freezes. The reason is because I am downloading 15GB worth of stuff and the partition that I am downloading to only has 8 GB. So my mistake. Regardless I was still locking up and freezing under some random circumstances. So what I did was fresh install Ubuntu 8.10 i686 (no 64 bit for me, at least for now), but I am still freezing/crashing. Especially when downloading or installing a new package. I personally think that it has to do with my nvidia video card driver, but I just don't know what to do. I hope someone comes to my aid. -- Crash/Freeze When using bit torrent client and other random programs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/301926 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 301926] Re: Crash/Freeze When using bit torrent client and other random programs
** Description changed: I have ran into some problems with the new 8.10 version of ubuntu. There are a few issues, but the most annoying is that my computer randomly freezes, I have yet to determine a pattern to the crashes. But more or less, it happens when I am doing something with the video card (example playing a youtube video.) But it often happens when opening LimeWire, or even when installing software through the package manager (Synaptic). It never happens when I install packages through the good old command line. In a nutshell my system consists as follows Motherboard: Asus M2A-VM CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+ Socket AM2 Memory: 1GB Video Card: nVidia GeForce 7300 GT Storage 1: 80 GB SATA II Storage 2: 160 GB SATA II This a complete fresh installation, the system was working well before (ubuntu 8.04). Although I have installed a lot of software (mainly because I use this computer a file server, web server, share iTunes media library etc.) But this issue has been going on even before installing all this software. My System logs don't say much. It just says restart. I don't know what to make of it. I've also been getting the famous acpid: exiting hang, when shutting down or restarting. If I wait long enough it does restart or shut down but its very annoying. - - --- - - AN UPDATE: - - Every time I open my bit torrent client, after about 2 minutes of use it - freezes Every TIME, without fail. This is strange because previously - (about 4 days ago, I downloaded two 1.5gig files without a hitch)... - - I would appreciate any help... - - Thank you. -- Crash/Freeze When using bit torrent client and other random programs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/301926 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
