[Bug 488638] Re: HP dv7 2040us Sound comes out from both speakers and headphones

2009-11-26 Thread Ghaith Hachem
Wow, that simple?
it worked thanks i'm wondering why i never saw that in forum posts.
Backports get pulled to the main branch eventually though right? so in theory
would i have gotten this fix through normal update channels?

Thanks

[Bug 488638] [NEW] HP dv7 2040us Sound comes out from both speakers and headphones

2009-11-26 Thread Ghaith Hachem
Public bug reported:

On my hp dv7-2040us the sound comes out from both speakers and headphones if i
plug the headphone in.

by modifying the alsa configuration and setting model=hp-dv5 this time it's not
working

[Bug 433683] Re: HP Pavilion dv7 2108 doesn't mute speakers & switch output to headphones when they are plugged in

2009-11-16 Thread Ghaith Hachem
Hi,
I am facing the same as #6
However i'm using hp dv7-2040us and i686, i wasn't sure i should open a new bug
as it's the same behavior.
Should i apply the suggestions proposed or should the fix be automatically
pulled by the updates?
i have the latest updates installed
uname -a : Linux ghaith-laptop 2.6.31-15-generic #50-Ubuntu SMP Tue Nov 10
14:54:29 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux

[Bug 303670] Re: package linux-restricted-modules-2.6.27-9-generic 2.6.27-9.13 failed to install/upgrade: le sous-processus post-installation script a retourn? une erreur de sortie d'?tat 1

2008-12-01 Thread Ghaith Hachem
What's the output of df -h ?
try manually deleting old images from your /boot then running dpkg --configure
-a , if that works (it did for me) go in synaptic and remove old kernels
(linux-image-2.6.xx) keep the newest, and one older then that..
hope that helps.

running dpkg --configure -a from terminal will give you :
$ sudo dpkg --configure -a
Setting up initramfs-tools (0.92bubuntu16) ...
update-initramfs: deferring update (trigger activated)

Setting up linux-restricted-modules-2.6.27-10-generic (2.6.27-10.14) ...

gzip: stdout: No space left on device
update-initramfs: failed for /boot/initrd.img-2.6.27-10-generic
dpkg: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

What's relevent here is gzip: stdout: No space left on device, i got it having
my boot partition full
i don't think this is a valid bug, however a notification from the gui would
have been nice..

[Bug 108527] Re: X freezes when compiz is enabled on ATI cards

2008-01-26 Thread Ghaith Hachem
hey,
Just for the record, i'm facing this problem on my laptop, thinkpad z60m with
x300 ati, compiz enabled with the default effects, i'm not however facing it on
my desktop with ati x300se, actually i sometimes keep the desktop running for
weeks with no slowdowns..
on another note, i previously had faced some lockups on my laptop while playing
warcraft, and once with worms 3d, so it might after all be a driver issue not a
compiz one no?
